From my experience, AP, IWC, Pams and to a certain extent Hublot (don`t like it either) has been the choice lately for the it crowd. I`m talking gens and real world off course, not in relations to different forums and the hard core collectors. BUT as i said, Rolex is as strong as they ever where, du to the new lineup, especially the DS.

I know i am playing the devils advocate here so i`ll elaborate. I speak as a watch lover, not on behalf of the market. With the business hat on, sure TT DJ is the best watch ever made. But certainly this is a forum where more than normally interested guys share their opinion, not a place to add and subtract. Lol, don`t be sorry, why would anyone be offended by your personal taste? And you are very passionate about your present collection, that`s why you and many more Rolex collectors feel a big need to tell the rest of the watch world that you personally don`t like this watch. Read below... To me that says they got EVERYTHING right, Rolex never tried to accomodate hard core collector fans (you think they wan`t customers who spends a year thinking about their next second hand purchase?). They wanted a brilliant designed watch that collectors across the brands would like, and look at forums for IWC`s, Paneristi, etc... it`s appearing everywhere. This watch is speaking to people who don`t are Rolex fanboys. Like the Luminor, Big Pilot, AP ROO... a defining watch that gets appreciated across the boarders. That`s why it get so much hate from the classic Rolex collector. The most desirable Rolex all of a sudden looks nothing like the watches they all have... what can they do, sell their collection, renounce all they believe inn and feel so strongly for... much easier to proclaim to their forum buddies "i don`t like it"! I`ve even read statements like "I hate it"! and "i feel sick"... lol, tell me that`s not psychological.

Discussing wether it`s worth it or not is pointless, the second hand market sets the value and shows us all the desirability. A rep sub, $300... gen second hand $4000 (ballpark)... that`s the difference, the democratic vote has told me and you what the counterparts are worth. It`s a + 90% difference, that`s pretty much. I love my pam reps, or my modded fiddy at least... i tell everyone about how overprised the damn Panerai brand is, standard ETA, stainless steel and a sapphire glass... $20.000???, get the hell outta here!... wish i was rich. I`ll have some fun with my gen DeepSea for a while longer, in the meantime i`ll dream about the 203, AP Barrichello, Patek... but the reps will take some of my longing away and make me forget that i`m not where i wan`t to be, i wan`t to be better, smarter, smaller, bigger, so successful that i could buy every watch i loved... all the things i`m not. In the meantime, i`ll use reps instead of prozac... and they work pretty good.

Brushing the bracelet is a great idea, it will solve your worries. Sacrilegious to brush the center links? What about wearing a rep? Your allready going to hell mate, might as well enjoy it

There is one guy that have done minor repairs on my watches with Asian 7750`s, 100 m north of the roundabout at Bislet Stadium. For more extensive repairs, i don`t know.

Or that they`re rich... the only gen owners that i see are in uproar over reps is the guys who saved for a long time, finally bought an Omega or Sub or something and actually thinks it makes them special. Then they see the $300 rep and, WTF? I am not special after all, buu, down with reps! Nerds!

Congrats with the new purchase, it is a good rep but not one of the best Breitling reps out there. I would say the bad AR is the easiest way to call out this rep, also subdial spacing is pretty bad, not centered. A Breitling dealer who can`t see that this is a rep should quit his job. BTW, don`t take the reps to AD.

He sounds cool, i wan`t to be his friend. Glad to see some watch lovers are still driven by pure emotion, not practicality or economics.

They fixed the PR but downgraded the strap. I don`t know, seems like V1 is still the best choice, the strap looks so much better on the V1. What is this new version, a 5002 case with a 5004 strap? Hopefully it`s still possible to choose the old strap.

Why? They will sell just as many at $200... selling this rep for $100 would be an idiotic business move. I am hoping for the strap to be of good quality, supposedly it is, that`s worth an extra $100 right there. 5002 looks much better than the 5004, thank god they repped the right version and not the ugly sibling. A pilot watch should have a rough look, the 5004 looks to clean, like a Big Portugese... imo. Thats probably one of the reasons the 5002 are more sought after and holds a higher value.
