I got called out last week on my 177H (full mods, including palp crown)... guy is a real watch buff... asked me where I got it, I said 'internet'... lol Kinda gave myself away I guess. He was quite impressed and had never tried a PAM on... he fell in love with it I think.
I know that if you try to put the stem back in without unscrewing the little screw on the 6497 it can make something 'snap' into place and thus you won't be able to wind - only set the time... well, I thought i had unscrewed it but this seems to be what happened to me...
Do I have to take the hands and dial off again to 're-set' something?
Any guidance would be appreciated.
I took mine to a jeweler who sized it for $5.... he had a hell of a time (took him about 10 minutes)... I then went home and ordered the Narikaa tool just in case
Don't have the old one because it was seized inside the crown and broke in half when trying to remove it (with half still fused inside the crown)....
I'll give it a go with your instructions
I received a new stem for my 177H from The Zigmeister, but it's full length and needs to be cut/sized... anyone have experience with this that they can share? I have no idea how to figure out the proper length or even what to use to cut it...
Sounds like a junk movement, and I doubt they are worth saving... buy a new one from Davidsen... not sure how much but well under $100 I think... use your old ones to learn some watch skills
Would you people start posting more! I'm having withdrawal... every day I visit here and all of the other boards and find that I've exhausted everything after 5 minutes... I need MORE!
Which movement (CN or Swiss)? Who was the dealer? Maybe something is slipping - does it wind smoothly? Only takes about 30 turns for 6497 to be fully wound and last for 40+ hours...
