  1. Any un-serviced movement could be problematic, and the Asian 7750 as delivered is unserviced. It is probably completely dry throughout the motion works, has no oil in the balance cap jewels, is not adjusted correctly, and most likely is over oiled around the mainspring area. I see this all the time.

The Asian 7750 once serviced, (cleaned, oiled, adjusted) runs just as well as the Swiss does.

Don't think for a minute that just because you have an ETA Swiss 7750, your problems are solved. A perfect example occured yesterday, a Swiss ETA 7750 25 jewel shows up at my bench because it's not working right. I serviced it, and now it runs fine.

The problem your having is not due to the origin of the movement, but due to lack of correct maintenance.

The Asian 7750's are fine movements once given the same care and attention that a Swiss model has leaving the factory.

Based on that, why would anybody ever buy one...???

Why would you pay decent $$'s to but a watch that IMMEDIATELY needs relatively expensive servicing simply to perform in the manner it was designed and represented..???

These reps are expensive enough to begin with, and to need to invest additional funds to get them to work properly is asinine!!

I won't even buy a rep with a non chrono 7750 inside!! My Arktos has the "cheap" 21j Asian movement, and performs flawlessly, WITHOUT needing an immediate trip to the watchmaker....And if and when it dies, I'm pretty sure I can simply replace the entire movement for less than the cost of a lube servicing on a 7750 out of the box!!

  2. I do not know if DW's assembled watches were drop-shipped (my understanding is that they were not), but here is a gen 6241 that sold on Antiquorum for close to $60,000 a few years ago next to 1 of those '$2000.00 REPLICA!!!!' watches (built from a DW kit)

    GenvsDW.jpg

But you are right about 1 thing -- It helps to have rocks in your head if you are seriously considering the purchase of either one -- gen or rep. :bicycle:

Problem is...after @40 yrs around watches, I know they are in reality BOTH @$2000.00 WORTH of watch!!..The fact that some idiot will spend $60,000. to get one is the most perplexing... <_< <_< <_<
  3. WHY...????....

From what I've read in this thread and attached thread, you need to have rocks in your head to spend 4 figures for a rep from what amounts to a "dropshipper"....And...even if you're lucky enough to get a decent example, you've still got: a $2000.00 REPLICA!!!! :o :o :o

  4. Only if it was included in a set of 4 !!! ;) ;) ;)

Anything over $200. for ANY rep is overspending IMNSFHO

In fact my last BIG purchase was an Arktos (asian) for $120.00!!

I cherry pick the sales boards for private party sales, and seldom spend over $100. for a rep...

After all....no matter HOW MUCH you spend, you can't make a "gen" out of it, so why get crazy...???

  5. Josh's noobmariner (called the beginmariner which has a Asian 28,800 bph movt) is known to have bold date font. You should double-check with Josh or any dealers to make sure you're not getting that. I haven't seen TTK's having the bold font and he assured that now, excellent.

    -bk

I have one of his "early issue Begin's", and the date font is not bold at all...And the pearl is properly sized, and most importantly....perfectly centered on the triangle...all in all one of my best rep deal to date!! ;) ;) ;)
  6. Cell phone ... hmmmm?? My cell phone does not report seconds, only hour and minutes. Maybe there is a way to adjust this presentation on my cell phone to show seconds, as well.

Simply "hack" your watch with the sec hand @ 12:00, set the minute hand to the next minute, and wait for the cell phone to change minutes..then push your crown in...Sounds more complicated than it really is!!

  7. There is apparently a "transitional" model between these also..!!..

I recently acquired, from a member of another board, an 092, that has the folowing attributes: new style case, crown guards, bezel, and back(sort of, with the same graphics as the new one, MINUS the serial#!)

Also....it has the older, almost non existent AR, crummy magnifier, and IMNSHO,.. MORE reliable Asian 21j movement!!

(after my experiences over the past 2 yrs, ANYTHING called a "7750" scares the bejeezus out of me!!)

Overall, I'm quite happy with this configuration, since I'm too old to read the date anyhow, and, only @ 11 people on the planet know what a real Arktos looks like anyhow, and they'll never even get close a "peon" like me anyway!! ;) ;) ;)

  8. I use my trusty pocket watch from Korea...Oh and btw...I can also use it to talk to virtually anyone, simply by pushing some buttons on its face....And I can take pictures with it too!!...And Cingular gave it to me for free!!....

Seriously though...My cell phone is plenty accurate enough for my needs!!! ;) ;) ;)

  9. In many cases, sadly, a time bomb on your wrist....Especially the older slow beat models, and those modified with a seconds sub dial @6:00....Every one I have had has performed poorly....While every other asian movement I own works great...even the cheapest ones!!....I'm just one guy with several dozen watches, but there have been quite a few with similar experiences!

It'sw really a pity that there hasn't yet been offered a RELIABLE auto chrono movement for all those beautiful reps I'd love to own, but refuse to gamble $300+ on!! <_< <_< <_< :

  10. In my personal, and probably very controversial, opinion.

"The Best Watch Under 100 Dollars USD"

    5.jpg

(I have seen this one in person and it is a very scary accurate rep of a MSRP $27,000 limited edition watch.)

    keep well

I agree!!...Mine cost me $50.00!!...If only they did the weekdays in French!!!!

BTW it is my "go to" watch whenever I need something REALLY dressy!!

  11. Dear members

It's been exactly one month since I asked for you help, and unfortunately I will have to do the very same thing this month. Paypal has closed the last 2 accounts I had in connection with RWG and they also froze all funds available. All members who have upgraded to VIP memberships will now have their payments automatically denied by paypal and all recurring payments will automatically be stopped. So as last month, I am left without any funds (except for the few members who have upgraded their memberships again, after they have been cancelled). So once agan, I will have to ask for your support and donations. Our hosting bill is due at the end of every monI hope this will be the last month I have to do things this way, but I can not guarantee it.

This time you can either chose to support RWG via a donation or upgrade your membership to a VIP membership. Because of the recent paypal-problems, I will not share the address where you can donate in public. Just send me an empty e-mail at give@rwg.cc and you will instantly get all the details you need. VIP members can use the link presented below, only visible to VIP members.

    Thanks!

Donation sent...In my wife Janice's name!!...(MY way of dealing wit P/P!!!)

  12. Hi all,

Been offered this watch but the pics aren't very clear.

I've been on the boards for a few months and been reading a lot!

    Great knowledge on here...

Anyway what are the obvious flaws on this LV.

In my ignorance, it dosen't look too bad but the CGs look a bit big.....

    Anything else?

Nice LV's are everywhere for as little as $100. or less....The CG's on that onevc are a bit too "chunky" for my tastes, but your pictures leave a lot to the imagination...This watch is well replicated in Asian movement for not much $$'s...Shop around!!

To answer your second question....A Chinese guy!!

  13. http://www.perfectclones88.com/pn19201-tan...nos-p-3287.html
