  1. Excellent idea, but as a guy who has 8.5" wrists, I have discovered that many of our most highly regarded dealers are not very reliable when asked to include extra links...I once had a dealer(one of the "top3") confirm that he would include extra links...the watch arrived without them...I asked the dealer about it, and he offered to SELL me an extra bracelet for $40.00!!...Needless to say...I don't shop THERE anymore!!

The bracelet size problem has discouraged me from buying a sizeable number of nice reps, mostly Breit's, IWC's, and Omega's, to avoid chasing extra links..... :wounded1: :wounded1: :wounded1:

  2. Every one of these has one glaring fault!!!....Look at the 4 on thje bezel insert, and then go to the official Rolex site and look at their 4...The Gen top is much wider!!....Pointing out the one irrefutable truth about rep collectors....We are all TIGHT ASSED idiots!!!...Can't we just be satisfied that we are able to have in our possession a 99% accurate reproduction of a $5500.00 watch for $ 107.00???..Fuggeddeaboutit!! :Jumpy::Jumpy::Jumpy::Jumpy::bleh:

  3. In 1966 I acquired a Rolex EX1 in trade for a diamond engagement ring that my Ex girlfriend returned to me....

    The ring cost me $173.00....

I kept the watch for 30+ yrs, until I got tired of spending a ton of money to fix it after 2 yrs of wear...I only wore it for 3 2 yr periods during the 30 yrs...The rest of the time it sat in a drawer...10 yrs ago I traded it for an 18k Minerva cal 20 chrono, and a 14k Hamilton "bradley"....Since the, I sold the Minerva for enough$$$'s to buy a Canon digital SLR, and a bagful of L series lenses....And the Hamilton is still in my collection, and still running strong...SCREW rolex!! :):D;);)

  4. Never...Never...NEVER... take $100.00 bills from a stranger!!! But I guess I don't have to tell you that now!!

"Street smarts" can often be the most expensive education you can buy...I grew up in a tough neighborhood...[censored] even the cockroaches wore shin guards!!...I learned at an early age to not trust strangers...NO EXCEPTIONS!!...I know it's a [censored] to go through life distrusting everyone, but at least you've got half a chance at getting through it at all...The only thing that is replicated better than watches these days is currency!!.....Your only real safety is through electronic transfers...Sad but true!!..:angry::angry:

  5. Can someone explain exactly what is a tropic dome crystal. I know it's something to do with it having a skirt around it's bottom edge but could do with a full explanation from an expert.

I'm no Rolex expert.....But as far as I've seen on these forums, It's a simple piece of plastic that costs an outrageous amount of money, primarily because of the printing on the paper envelope it arrives in...;-)

I saw one on Ebay a month or so ago for $700+ !!!!...Just plain nuts!!! :bangin::bangin:

  6. I agree i would not buy an Invita myself.....but lets face it this is a replica forum :) who are we to tell Invicta what they should and should not do

I own 2 Invictas...A 1960's swiss made one with an A Schild 17 j HW movement, aqnd the venerable 8926 "Sub" clone...I bought that one 10 yrs ago....my first internet watch purchase, cost $53.00 new!!...It opened my eyes as to how close a Rolex could be copied for almost NO MONEY!!...BTW...the Miyota in it still functions well, and the case is still in my parts box waiting to someday become a "Franken-something"....I actually have use the well worn bezel insert from it in a "Bond" Sub project, and it snapped right into the Silix bezel like it was made for it!!..That alone was worth the $53 bucks!!!...:rolleyes::rolleyes:

  7. Can you spell...: S-E-A-G-U-L-L ???....that is an ST-19 2 register Venus 175 clone in that watch...interesting case though...Those movements are popping everywhere...probably because the work great and are dirt cheap for a true column wheel chrono!!!

China has given up trying to conquer the world by force.....It's a lot easier through commerce........:and :

    "Resistance is futile" :Jumpy::Jumpy::Jumpy:

  8. I think you'll find that YOU are the one that is insulting everyone here.......how about doing a little RESEARCH before you fork out hard CASH for a complex MECHANICAL item....that will ALWAYS need some care and attention and future SERVICING....how about growing into the hobby........you know....learning to CRAWL before you WALK before you RUN.

It's LAZY people such as you that [censored] me right off......people who simply want a pretty status object on their wrist....no horological knowledge at all......in fact very little knowledge of any kind.....YOU wouldn't operate a car without KNOWLEDGE ..or a PC ..would ya.....Narikaa is right......!

And these boards are still flypaper for idiots.....!

C'mon Neil...give the kid a break...40 or 50 yrs ago he could have been me...or you!!...besides...eventually he'll acquire enough "seasoning" to qualify for a TTK deal... :victory::victory::victory:

  9. My question is pretty much as the title states. I've been looking into getting a gen Vintage Seamaster 300 and as part of my process, I like to research the avaliable reps to help me make an informed decision. I've found a rep vs gen guide on scubawatch.org, but was curious if any better quality reps were avaliable. I've seen a few 300s where the numbers on the bezel insert don't match any of the reps in the guide nor any of the photographs of gens. I searched on several dealer sites and did not find anything and the only mention on this forum is of gens a few people bought. This is in contrast to what I hear on timezone and watchuseek where they make it sound like there are quite a few reps floating around.

There are a lot of "fake" 300's that are actually "franken" Omegas modified to loook like 300's...These are usually made by nefarious assholes trying to screw the public...

AFAIK, there are no specifically made replicas of this watch, mainly because the market in reps is mainly for popular current genuine's, and only a tiny segment of collectors even know what a 300 is...

    Knowing this, I would NEVER buy a 300 from a stranger... :g:

  10. Hi,

I would like to know if someone had used the ..... pen from the watchboys to refurbish a Titainum watch (I am talking about the IWC Titanium).

I have some spurs and I would like to get ride of them.

I tried with Scotch Brite but the results are no so good. It gives another finish.

It will be great is someone can give his/her experience!

    Thanks for the info!

    Sam

    Here's an interesting process...

BTW...I now own that watch, and the finish has held up very well.... :3a:

  11. As opposed to the OLD asian 7750....which don't run at all!!!...I'm about to try the WD-40 gambit on my 212 movement...WTF have I got to lose????....I actually got more than one vintage junker running that way back in "the day"....Not running well, but running, rather than frozen for eternity!! :whistling::whistling::whistling:

  12. I had been admiring the Omega broadarrow/ seagull chrono, and when one of the "original early models" came up for sale I jumped all over it base upon their recomendation...I have maybe 40-50 reps in my drawer, but this one gets more wrist time than all of them combined...Now I'm waiting for Neil's "noobmariner" Sub to arrive and knock it out of 1st place???...Who knows...But these 2 guys with their knowlege, photo skills, and ability to communicate have made collecting high quality reps a whole lot more pleasurable for me!!!...Thanks guys!!! :3a::3a::3a:

  13. Usually 5 or 6 gen's and 2 or 3 dozen reps.....I never know what mood I'l be in....I have beern on a 6 week trip as we speak, and have only worn 6 or 7 of the 30 or more watches I'm carrying....I've fallen in love with a Pam 192 Titanium on a strap lately, and it's my daily wear these days.....But I'm awaiting a Sub from TTK that'll probably change my life for a week or two!!...Reps make variety practical, and that's... "a good thing"... :):):)

  14. I have a chronic problem opening Sub/SD cases with a cheap tool set I bought.

Before I go spend serious money on a better tool, does anyone know for sure if the good tools fit these rep cases? What size should it be?

If better tools fit right, can someone suggest a source?

    Bill

Go up rte 41 to Ft Myers and see Birdman....He'll hook you up!!!..Kerry is A1!!!

On the way home, stop at Mels Diner.... :):):)
