  1. I wonder if somebody with experience in fitting/taking off 127 or 217 bazel can help me with advice; the ring was not fitted properly to the case and on one side there is 1/2 mm space left. I am not sure if trying to press it with brute force would be a good idea, would a proper press be needed and how careful would one need to be to press the bazel on firmly?

These bezels are unbelieveably tightly fit!!...I couldn't get mine back onto my 217 without totally destroying the plastic bezel gasket, and I had to actually glue it into place(temporarily)until I can figure out a way to redo it correctly without breaking that massively domed crystal...I think that this very tight fit situation puts a lot of stress on the crystal, and may be partly responsible for the rash of mysterious "spontaneous" crystal self destruct incidents these watches are known to suffer...
  2. A perfect example of the KISS principle....Looks like tomorrows project on my 217....I was wondering if anybody ever tried that!! THANKS!!

    And here's the results...

I was able to remove just enougth material to just get the pinion dead flush with the hand surface... good enough for my tire old eyes!! :thumbsupsmileyanim: :thumbsupsmileyanim: :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  3. If it's the same reliable source, I had that exact info too. My source also said they're not making destro models anymore, since the guy supplying the cases and movements quit (!?).

However, Davidsen still has these all available...no? ;)

P.S.: Yay for SSsurfer! 'Bout time is right!

Wrat are the differences in a "Destro"217 and a Fiddy besides the position of the numbers on the dial...???..It seems to me the case and movements are not at issue here...??? :whistling: :whistling: :whistling:
  4. Sure no way for true tantalium, but if you ever happen to get a 192 you might be interested in this thread.
oddly, I happen to be wearing that EXACT watch as I am surfing the Panerai board!!

I bought it last year from the fellow who did the "deed"!!

I actually prefer the less cluttered look of the dial without the totally useless(to me) tachy scale anyhow!! :whistling: :whistling: :whistling:

  5. No markings anywhere I can see...BTW...the movement beats at 5/sec..(18000 bph), and the GMT hand sets independently by turning the crown in the opposite direction in the date change position...The hand stack is with the GMT hand closest to the dial...

The movement keeps excellent time, and the GMT hand functions flawlessly, making just one sweep per 24 hrs...

  6. This powers an ExII I recently acquired...

It looks nothing like the Chinese GMT movements in my Seamaster GMT, or my Vintage GMT Master from TTK...

Oddly the elliptical setup on the winding gear serves to disengage the gear when turning backwards, and the screw securing it has left hand threads..(which I found out the hard way!!..LOL)

    Anybody know what this is...????

  7. Thanks The Zigmeister.

Pix, The lume is actually orange, very bright at first but dies a death after about an hour, The case for Nr2 was so crap i binned the idea, but i made Dial 2!!!!!!

Any one got a case they are not using??????

I've got a "cherry" 39mm Aqua Terra (rep) case hanging around!!....Let me know...I'm looking for a couple of extra links for my UPO lite I just bought... Know anybody who's got some...??? :whistling: :whistling: :whistling:

  8. Super bowl weekend was a "deal breaker" for me....It would have taken an Al Quaida death squad to get me to drive to the east coast that weekend....I really wanted to go, but I usually avoid that side of Florida like the plague during season, and the super bowl crowds sealed the deal...Sorry ....Frank :wounded1:

  9. Last monday i've received the PAM 187 from Joshua. Nice rep, really like it, everything OK but... that Wrrrrr sound of the movement, when you move your wrist in a certain way, kind of irritates me.

This is my 3rd rep with the Asian 7750 movement. PAM212, IWC GST Ti and now also PAM 187 they all have this Wrrrrrr sound of the rotor. PAM 187 is the worst, the Wrrrrr sound is really loud.

Isn't this a big giveaway? I have never had the genuine watches on my wrist but I think that the wrrrrr sound is not hearable on a gen. I am I right? Last night I handed my PAM 187 over to a friend of mine, first thing he said was "what's that noise, is it defect"?

Does the Swiss 7750 also make so much wrrrrr noise, or is it just an Asian "flaw"?

Do you REALLY think anyone but yourself hears it...????...And YOU already KNOW it's fake!!!...

  10. If you only wear a certain watch on special occasions like weddings ect Im thinking it should last for a very long time. What if you wore it every day? Would it last 6 months maybe a year? Im having a hard time believing that a rolex case can be solid 18k. Besides the considerable cost $680 a ounce theres also the problem of 18k being very soft. Does anyone know how rolex does this?

Listen carefully!!....Their first trick is to make the gold go straight through to the other side!!...Their next trick is to mark it up 10X cost to build....and then sell it to some fool!!.... :whistling: :whistling: :whistling:

  11. The 2894 is a really complex movement. It's hardcore.

At this point, why not rep the El Primero. :D

ps. One reason the 2894 is hard to rep: It's very, very slim. Another, the amount of torque produced on the chrono flyback means if you ever remove the second hand, you need a new one. Also, you need special tools to even look at it.

True!!!....I have an Omega Dynamic chrono with one of those "modular" movements, and I can't even find a watchmaker who'll open it up for less than $300.00....In fact that watch drove me to start buying reps again...WTF WANTS a gen watch that costs an arm and a leg every few yrs, just to make it run again..???...I went through that for 30 yrs with a Rolex, and I totalled up my expenses to keep it running for 3 two yr periods during that time as six times the price I paid to buy the damn thing!!

  12. i know its a small detail and yet at the same time its for me at least, it sums up quite nicely why theres still so many flaws in these watches such as the sub and SD.

its such a disappointment to see that the rubber oring continues to be housed in the case and not in the caseback as per the original.

while it make no real difference, do you think they will ever change it?

Why does it matter??....By the time one has the caseback removed, the position of the gasket is of no import...It either seals the case or it doesn't!!
