  1.....definitely not.....the King has no need to take over Thailand.....if ever a monarch was loved by his country.....it's King Bhumibol Aduladye......the longest reigning monarch in the world.....adored by his people....and quite rightly so....!

The military faction that have seized power are loyal to the King and not to Taksin Shinarawat....the PM......they seized power when he is out of the country....and are calling for a new democratic government.!

    I dunno...between tsunamis and military coups....why didn't I retire to Florida.....oh I know.......

If you decide on Florida...I've got a spare room....And a lot of connections in the rep "mafia"!!:unsure::unsure:

  2. Ok you asked for it....

Rolex watches cost more than they are worth.....

How can a watch that is massed produced from ordinary materials, with a very ordinary movement possibly be worth that much money..???

Shoot, you can buy one that looks almost exactly like it, runs as nicely ,with a movement that'll run forever for under $200.00 from virtually any dealer here...

The only redeeming factor is that there are enough fools out there that'll pay a ton of money for a used one, that you'll not lose much when you sell it...

I would rather enjoy my "stable" of rolex reps, AND be able to track my CD balances on line than have a ton of money tied up in my watch drawer, and no cd's to track...

    :whistling::whistling::whistling:

  3. I f*cking hate when people act like a$$holes!

Sorry to hear it happened to you Andrew...

It didn't only happen to Andrew....Assholes like this eventually influence the price dealers must ask for ALL their offerings in order to compensat for their losses...So this TURD is actually robbing ALL of us indirectly!!!

Perhaps one of our "down under" bro's could make a "call" on his sorry ass???:angry::angry:

  4. And this is what I got back:

"i'VE BEEN ASKED THIS QUESTION TWICE AND I'M APOLIZING AGAIN. sO SORRY - i TAKE LOTS OF PHOTOS AND I GUESS THE TWO WATCHES GOT MIXED TOGETHER. I'M SELLING THE 16610 DATE MODEL. ARE YOU INTERESTED. "

I got basically the same [censored] back from him....he has pulled the watch from auction...Allegedly to verify its origin!!!....what a lying POS!!! :bangin::bangin::bangin:

  5. Thanks for your insight, Frank, but here's a short version of the subtext of this thread, in case you're not familiar: Paul was a very solid dealer for a very long time until he tried to corner the high end PAM market, lost that gamble big time, and left 60% of RWG high and dry. After a wierd time during which it was unclear whether or not Paul was even running his site, it looks like he's had a decent if not perfect record and may be trying to earn back business by offering some pretty amazing deals. Apparently, some RWG old timers, well aware of the valuable information available here about buying reps, are giving him another shot. We're trying to determine if a bargain is a bargain in the case of paul. We know we'll have only ourselves to blame if Paul takes our money and then starts posting semi-coherent insults along with pictures of his pool.

I'm willing to cut paul some slack on his paypal problems--he tries to be a volume dealer so, just by the law of averages, he's bound to run into a customer that files a dispute.

To each his own....I can't argue with your thinking, but as a relative newbie, I prefer to remain "unburned", so I'm sticking with the guys I've had good experiences with...Actually, I buy most of my watches from individuals here in the CONUS these days, great prices, no customs problems, and 3 or 4 day turnarounds....No problem so far... :D:D:D

  6. I happen to own both the VC (rose and stainless) and the Lange. The VC chronograph is a great watch. The silver is correct for the hands and hour markers. The Lange is also beautiful and very high quality finish, but the subdial location is incorrect. Anyone who knows Lange would instantly know it is a rep. That being said, I prefer the Lange, it has a bigger and more solid feel. It is so good, that I am looking into having the Lange markings removed and making it a generic chronograph.

    Hope that helps.

    Regards.

"Anybody who knows Lange" is the germaine point!!...

Do YOU know anybody who even knows that there is a Lange watch company??...Shoot...I spent most of my adult career in the banking and yachting business, and NEVER even saw(or heard of) one till I started visiting TimeZone in 1994....

Actually, I've been an active watch collector since then, And I have only seen 1 real one!!!... :D:D:D

  7. I'm amazed that the folks who come here, primarily to evaluate the "credentials" of the various dealers continue to disregard the valuable information that's available, and return again and again to these vendors that offer low prices in lieu of reliable service.....Everybody loves a bargain, and unquestionably, these guys offer one, but it's only a matter of time till we start seeing the "....where's _ _ _ _...I sent him money, and haven't heard from him in 2 weeks...or 2 months..." posts again!!!

We are blessed wioth a core group of steady, reliable, responsive dealers here...We all know who they are, and we all know about the others too, so no names need to be mentioned...

Smarten up....a bargain is only a bargain when the deal is completed!!...Who wants to be the next guy with the "where's - - - -" post....Not me!!!

And BTY...Pay-Pal is the ONLY way I'll EVER buy a watch...No paypaley, no dealey!! :bangin::bangin::bangin:

  8. DON'T go near plated surfaces with a Cape Cod cloth...unless you know what you're doing...Tarnishing on gold plated surfaces is caused by molecular migration from the metal beneath the gold plate, and is an indication that the gold layer is precariously thin to begin with!!!....I use a very soft cloth with just a miniscule dab of Wrights silver polish, just softly touch the cloth to the tarnished area, and rub VERRRRRRRY lightly...then rub off any residue with a clean cloth...less is better....NEVER attempt to polish out scratches!!!!...You won't be happy!!!

Trust me on that one Buckwheat!!! :Jumpy::Jumpy::Jumpy::Jumpy:

  9. In the grand scheme of things, with all these Chinese dealer / websites popping up, what most of you don't realise is that Sichuan was a good one compared to the rest.....

At least he was able to source those marvelous "Gelena Shitinerand" made reps!!!...I'm keeping mine!!! Someday it'll be a collectors item now that the famous Shitinerand factory stopped production... :Jumpy::Jumpy::Jumpy:

  10. Top pusher is very wrong and my question is why?

I am curious about the process of designing a rep and why that would be wrong?

The two pushers are the same on the gen...that is very easy to duplicate.

So did you do it on purpose? and if not why is it wrong?

This case is the same as the 163, the only changes were the dial, and the engraving on the display back ....and maybe a slightly different crystal, since the 163 is only 13.4mm thick...Nice effect, but not an "earthshaker" like the 212 when it first came out... :yu:

  11. HI

I need a venus copy movement. I know its the seagull ST-19 movement but i cant seem to find anyone selling it.

does anyone know where i can find it??

    Thanks

These are available over on the Seiko/Citizen forum from Jeff Stanley...He has recently acquired exclusive Sea-Gull distribution rights for the entire westewrn hemisphere..The "1963 Sea-Gull chrono" has this movement and sells for @$125.00.......If he can't help you, I'll sell you mine for the same $$'s....I've only worn it twice, and it keeps almost "quartz like" timing!!Frank ;)

  12. No sweat then!! This model most likely doesen't HAVE a screw down crown!!....I have that same(in effect at least) watch in the Rose gold plated model 163 chrono...The "effen" thing has 4 frozen screws that hold in the strap wires, and the knurled sleeve on the top pusher is not correct to the original "Wempe" model,...and the engraving on the back of the case corners appears to be missing...Actually an excellent performing watch, but its REAL significance is that it represents the "coming out" party celebrating the alliance between Josh and Andrew, the two most well regarded dealers in the "industry".....

(Have you noticed how close their pricing has become lately??)....

All in all I think it's a good thing for our group, since their combined clout will probably result in a lot of nice future offereings....

    Just my 2 cents....Frank

I love Radiomir especially with chrono but hesitate to get another one, because crown thread issues always turn me off. :yucky:

    Any improvement ?

  13. Primarily because maybe 1% of the population recognizes the brand as a high quality watch...And the folks who build and sell reps are looking for a slightly bigger market segment!!...To the vast majority of the "great unwashed", IWC commands no more respect than Swatch, or Timex!!.. :bleh:

    Thanks !!

Do you know why is so difficult to find IWC Rep ?

  14. This one: A gen Omega Dynamic chrono....

    http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a211/fra...ti/101_0078.jpg

I have had it for @4 yrs, and it started acting up where the watch would keep running the sec sweep, and the chrono would function flawlessly, but the min and hr hands would freeze in place...

I couldn't get a watchmaker to touch it for under $300.00....mainly because it has that "hincky" modular 44 jewel movement, and requires special tools and skills to work on it...

Well.....I took my $300, and bought a couple of nice Rolex reps instead...Then I took another 5 or 6 hundred and bought more!!...Help me to stop!!!!....please!!!

A few days ago, I decided..."screw it"....and opened up the Omega, took out the movement, and simply re set the min and hour hand more firmly on the pinion, just like I had asked 3 different "watchmakers" to do months ago!!...They all wanted to do a complete service or NOTHING at all.....

Now it runs like new again, and all it cost me was @ $1000.00!! for all the 'effin reps I bought!!! :bangin:
