Seamaster Chronograph Torino Winter Olympics 2005

Could be, or maybe I'm too eclectic? actually you know that's what I thought at first but the logo sort of grew on me esp on this model (it looks weird on other dials), that and the retro-looking numeral indices. The red-needled subdials are very sharp, set off the black dial very well. Add in the black rubber strap and you have a winner IMO. -
What with the PO in overdrive, is it just me or has THIS beauty slipped by unnoticed and unloved.....? Personally I think it's just

Honestly, my post wasn't meant to cast aspersions, merely question the validity of your find. There have been some murky goings-on in recent times with some so-called stashes of rare vintage tropics appearing from nowhere and I don't think there's any doubt that 1:1 copies are out in the open market. My own motives are purely to prevent others getting ripped off by inferior misrepresented crystals, that's all. For instance, my own genuine T39 superdome looks different to certain photos of supposed NOS superdomes, there's an easy-ish 'tell' from what I've seen and I'll happily confirm or not if yours is gen if you post or PM me detailed photos. Nanuq will back me up here and since he's in the US may be able to help you further. As for your T19 stash, you are indeed exceptionally lucky if you have a 5 of them! Best we agree to disagree on their availaibility even within collector circles (at least here in EU) but I fancy an aforementioned Alaskan will make you an offer you can't refuse on one

Oem Pnerai Strap Purchase Documentation...
docblackrock replied to lello's topic in The Panerai Area
Nice strap Lello Little things like that (book, catalogue etc.) sometimes help reduce the pain of paying so much although it is a really gorgeous strap I hope to be in Firenze in March - obviously can't not pay a pilgrimage to the OP boutique but just curious what the staff are like? IMO it it THAT alone that makes all the difference in the world when it comes to the experience of purchasing, their knowledge, their manner, their personality. -
I'm afraid reading through this narrative, there is indeed something VERY fishy going on. Genuine T19 superdomes are even rarer than T39s - rare as hens teeth in fact. The likelihood of you picking up "a few" plus a stowaway T39 and those being genuine NOS makes me think Nanuq and I have discussed this whole issue at length many times. Please post some pics, but from your description, source, cost, I suspect strongly you have been passed generic copies - unlike like the seller in that ebay link I posted, not everyone's as honest in their description of what's genuine NOS and what's a generic tropic...a genuine wax bag with a biro'd '19' or '39' on it means absolutely nothing.

Just the DRSD. The WSD used the flat profile T39.

Pictures are of gen watches.

good luck with that vintage GMT II hunt Mods since the noobs aren't listening and Neil has already said he isn't offering these 1665s/1680s, suggest you lock this thread.
-
It surely will, welcome to the club Also shows you don't need to break the 150 mark to bag one of these beasties, although the days of 100 a pop are long gone Nanuq - do you remember our threads about generic copies, when I posted that infamous picture of a fat roll of supposed superdomes??? Do ya? Well lookie HERE! or
-
And a license for a major headache, which is why Neil has already posted in another thread that he WON"T be offering these after all.

It really is a combination of short-sightedness and sheer bloody-mindedness on Rolex's part. Refusing to service 30+ year old movts is one thing (although you'd think they'd be proud to do so) but the parallel strangling of supply from their parts division to non-Rolex SCs is leaving vintage owners between a rock and a hard place - aftermarket is the only way forward. I've seen the same happen in the vintage car market. I fancy Hans Wilsdorf is spinning in his grave....

Sorry not true, the 16710 is powered by the c.3185 which in turn is based on the old faithful c.3135. The vintage GMTs (1675 and 6542) used the c.1575 and c.1035/6 respectively. As you're all finding out now, this guy/site is far removed from being a hidden gem, dodgy and overpriced. Yes they have a 16750 case I'd like to lay my hands on but asking a ridiculous price I recall. As for that T39 superdome price Lions, $185 even with the weakling dollar right now is too expensive. I paid $120 for mine (NOS) last year and there is a HK source some of us know that has them from time to time for no more than 150.

Call me a pessimist but having read through 6 pages... No clear consensus = limited appeal = relatively low sales = reduced ROI for dealer/make = unlikely to get off drawing board = IMO For Silix to do this, it must be a model that will be a guaranteed blockbuster in sales terms, otherwise why bother? A labour of love? Much as I like J&A, I doubt they are so altruistic and who could blame them. As I said in my earlier post, choosing a bespoke watch using such a large focus group is by nature going to be nigh on impossible to achieve. Even now there are cliques forming, the Seahawk fans, the die-hard vintage Rollies, the vintage Omega 300s, the Freaks etc but when all said and done, we all have our own particular tastes and desires, horses for courses as the French say . Hate to bring it up again even in jest, but the last time something similar (the aforementioned Railmaster 'Limited Edition' ) was tried even using an existing case and a largely agreed-upon and popular choice, it ended up an unmitigated disaster, the flaws the timescale, the nitpicking and finally the recriminations. Sorry but rather than this idea get me excited, my thoughts can best be summed up thus...

Nice clean looking watch albeit a bit too Noobmariner Regardless would look better on a decent rubber/metal hybrid strap instead of that leather belt

Hmmm, I always wondered why JTB spent so much time on the board, moderating feverishly from his Scottish lair almost as if it was an escape from something.... Guess now I know
-
No, not Halle Berry....wrong film, I even gave you the title How about Memoirs of a Geisha? Crouching Tiger? Ring any bells? Oh sod it, here you go....
-
.... ...nope, she's still there etched on my retina you bastard JTB
-
I'm with you there pal. But then that would ruin the enjoyment of wha.....oops, said too much...
-
How about an Omega XL Railmaster homage personalised with initials and 'limited edition' on the dial....oh no wait a sec Seriously though, methinks there is an obvious inherent flaw in this plan.....we all agree this is a rare chance to select an uncommon bespoke choice, something that my cheesy Yank colleagues call "out of the box" thinking however, the 'poll' means by definition the common majority will out and therefore the least 'individual' choice (i.e. lowest common denominator) will win no doubt. Christ I'm babbling sorry Problem is there are just so many to choose from and that movt selection discounts chronos .... Firstly, I like the G-P and they are on the up, plus Jay will send my steel shares through the roof just building it But then the rep world (ok me then) is crying out for a decent Tag - say an Aquagraph if we're talking big bad dive watches, or maybe something more classic/dressy like a Targa Florio. Sorry back to chronos again, oops. But hey the gens are cheap compared to the WIS high end models. Zenith (THE chrono, oops) also gets a vote as long as it's one of the more classic models rather than the abominations seen recently - I mean I thought Hublot had cornered the market in fugly chronos, obviously not. But if fugly chronos are what the masses wants then you may as well include the Roger Dubuis Easy Diver. Of course, chronos apart (do you detect a theme here?) what's left? IWC? Sorry Pugs but that same cold clinical Ti-look is just that....very samey. Rolex? Neil said it all (although wonder if Jay would be interested in buying a 1675 just for the case ) Omega? Forget the watch, just make me a bloody 22mm rubber strap Musing over, let's get back to the random pic posting.....
-
Damn why isn't there a green-about-to-vomit smilie like in the new post margin??? Still, I bet there's a certain Alaskan who shares your predilection JTB
-
Here's an unrelated totally random fact Bob, the Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies Right was a terrible bloody awful film apart from a good turn by a certain actress playing 007's erstwhile adversary/ally. Right then, back to the whistling... p.s. anyway why the interest? we all thought you preferred the (i.e. one particular) 'older' slightly confused/misrepresented and unmarried ladies
-
he's rumbled you there, has JTB! r11co ===>

Utterly shameless and thinly-veiled attempt to win a second PoM gong.... Even more annoying Puggy is that you will actually get my vote (for the quality of that narrative alone)
