I have it on good authority that right now, no-one will look at making the 22mm rubber strap to fit the new POs. Apparently the perception is that ther eisn't sufficient expected ROI to warrant it. Like others here and as R11co - our resident (but not only ) Bond expert has said, there is a huge demand for this strap, but that's here and as we know we represent a small but informed minority. Personally I don't see how they cannot create a new mold to yield a 2mm wider strap to same spec (plus the PO lettering punch-out on the strap underside in addition to the current Seamaster logo on the 20mm strap), surely a relatively simple procedure, yet can retool and use complex CNC techniques to create 1:1 SS cases! Bean-counting, once again, is the bane of my life.

Vintage 1675 (looky What Santa Brought Early)

Just thinking that Bob May be the photo but crystal looks a lot taller than a T116 to me -
Moron is perhaps too strong a word, I think 'sucker' captures it perfectly Again, you're still not getting it so I'lll speeeeeakkk sloooowwwwlly........this supposed practice of paying more than retail for a stock non-limited edition model (especially one that's no great shakes) not only smacks of stupidity on the part of the buyer, but actually represents gross misconduct on the part of the AD - which is why he should tell us who it was. I suppose I just can't believe any AD worth their salt would act in this way, it's ludicrous. My local AD who I know quite well once told me he was offered an extra £1000 above retail to bump a 213 Rattrapante in a customer's direction, even though it had been 'put aside' for a regular client prior to launch. He was horrified and told the man in no uncertain terms that was against their policy as a retailer, against their contract as an AD, and against his principles as a gentleman. The man wouldn't take no for answer though. Apparently a subtle nod to the (ex-services) doorman, who opened the door, and a polite 'good day sir' was eventually required...

Sure, it's been asked before but about time I asked again. Surely with the amount of 187s out there now, there must be a few £/$/€ in making reps of THIS...

C'mon, just a name that's all, just give me the name

shades of Neil in one of his good moods maybe the '[censored]' thing was what he paid that extra premium for? To the partisan noobs who are defending the man, I'm afraid you won't last long here if you don't get what this place is all about - IT'S A COMMUNITY TO SHARE INFORMATION not a place for "willy-waving" as my learned Scottish pal pointed out. Remember what they say about a fool and their money.... Anyhow, here's a new tack - I am over in NYC next month - would love to know which AD gave you such a special deal. Do tell. I'm betting it wasn't Torneau on Fifth

Happy to add my congratulations Admin

Afraid the only one who's yanking your balls is that AD of yours and his special 'premium' price

A sick fantasy at that Prove it then

You too And don't forget to zip your pants up, wouldn't want you to freeze your bits off now would we?

I'm amazed you've missed the point entirely It's not the 'what' it's the 'how', if that makes sense. There's been plenty of other postings of gen PAMs here, recall DarthSimon and his 8-days Radi, and Quarks maybe, just off the top of my head. There was also back in the good old day Euno's amazing pics and even further back the legend that was Saabin. Not forgetting our Italian friend Tangoflio. All those posts were presented as one watch enthusiast to another, no posturing or statements about paying over the odds (a very strange thing to say regardless). I'm sure there's many here who don't post pics of gens they own, I know I don't unless there's some relevance. Vintage pieces are an exception I feel but still (I'm thinking of Randy's gold Omega 'crystal press' ). Even on the purist boards, I doubt even the Paneristi freaks would welcome the tone used here, it's just about having a little bit of class. That is why r11co and I are giving him a bit of a hard time, that's all. No big deal.

Ouch! Loving your work

No offence intended, just that having worked there off and on (the NY-LON posting) for a couple of years, I think I'm qualified in saying there is a certain 'look at me' mentality in that you need to constantly reaffirm and advertise to everyone what you have in your bank account/driveway/wrist. NYC is all about the perception of success, more than anywhere else I know. A generalisation perhaps, as there are those types elsewhere but still it's behaviour that is looked down upon by more reserved and circumspect (you say 'snooty' ) Europeans, us Brits included. Remind me, what does the 'G' in 'GMT' stand for? And where's that then? Indeed it does. regardless of my thoughts above, I still love the place, the energy etc, but more so now it's all play and no work when I'm there. Same with London these days.

Gauging Interest: Custom Made Yacht-master Dials (16622)
docblackrock replied to ubiquitous's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Christ, the madness continues... R hasn't even received the first prototype yet, never mind making revisions, so we're talking about at least another month AT LEAST!!! Christ, I'm used to waiting MONTHS with custom dials. Where is the sense in rushing to join a non-existent queue for a sale that hasn't even begun yet? Be patient, as all good things come to those who wait, not those who bleat 'me too' and 'any update?' on a daily or weekly basis. As soon as there's news, you'll know about it, so just bookmark the bloody thread or enable email notification and take a pill. Doc -
Allegedly, of course If anyone's still curious about the exact wording of the banner, please feel free to PM. Personally although it is funny (not to both families though I'm sure), I much prefer the clever pun-ridden banners that LFC fans are famous for
-
Cheers! I understand but it's not exactly a close-up of you is it? Great game by the way, I'm jealous as I was couldn't make it. Did you get a good view of Agger's Goal of the Season??? just noticed the infamous Terry banner - I take it you DO know what the rest of it said and what it was all about don't you?
-
Don't listen to r11co, I'll charge you a small premium over what he's asking for his compliments, trust me you will "just have to have" MY compliments Seriously though, maybe you realise you've raised a few hackles which are nothing to do with jealousy, given there are many of us here who own gens. In which case then, I'll give my opinion for free - nice watch and all and maybe I'm jaded but I think it's fairly ordinary, just doesn't have any 'wow' factor, which for a Panerai kind of defeats the object, the one being I sense you wanted in view of the (somewhat typically NYC) way you went about posting this thread in the first place. Maybe I'm wrong but I think not

I would think so as this subdial arrangment variation does not affect datewheel appearance. What I mean is that the datewheel has numerals arranged parallel to the datewheel edges so fine for window at 3 o clock (6,9,12) and typically 4.30 (3,6,9). Depends though as some 3,6,9 chronos (e.g. Tag Monza c.36, or in rep world the new Speedy Shumachers) have date window at 6 o clock - different datewheel where the numerals are arranged perpendicular to the datewheel edges. Hope that makes sense.
-
I don't know, you tell me!!! You're in good company though, Chronus and Gran are Reds too, but just me and Admin with our stake money in the pot. Nice pics by the way, is that you next to that strangely familiar statue? I'm back off home tomorrow so will be seeing it once again *edit* oi! you edited the pics - now I look like a numpty who's imagining things that aren't there - post it back pleeease!

I think we all know this type of personality Personally I think it's all about upbringing and attitude to money, but there you go - let me stress I am not casting aspersions on anyone's character, just making an observation Anyway, in my experience in the long term, those moneyed stay moneyed by keeping a very close eye on all their money and parting with it less freely than most of us A somewhat extreme example of this is the annual tabloid photos of Mick Jagger in the corporate fat cat box at MCC (Lords Cricket Ground for you Yanks) watching a Test match with his home-made foil-wrapped sandwiches and thermos flask .

First Watch In Space? Tag Heuer Vs. Omega *ding Ding*
docblackrock replied to docblackrock's topic in General Discussion
I noticed that SWISS too, thanks for pic, I remember reading about the Poljot I think when they came out with a modern commemorative version (what's LV in the Cyrillic alphabet? ??? ) As usual, just another back-slapping exercise by the marketing boys -
Something is not quite right in the state of Denmark methinks....
