A Never Ending Story.... Never Seen Dial For 6263
docblackrock replied to klingsor's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Yeah, mid-November and even here it's bloody Christmas already Baaaah humbug! Bit unsettling as it reminds me of what happened earlier this year with Blade going AWOL and the old RWG forever snowing like Narnia -

A Never Ending Story.... Never Seen Dial For 6263
docblackrock replied to klingsor's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
I'm assuming you have a DW 6263 to start with (if not start there ) in which case I suggest you contact the same dial source we already spoke about FWIW, never liked Daytonas and their contrasting subdials - this dial config ctually makes me reconsider as it looks 'clean' and understated -
Vintage 1675 (looky What Santa Brought Early)
docblackrock replied to rbj69's topic in The Rolex Area
It does indeed - since we all assumed gen (nice one RBJ ) just couldn't work that mag issue out at all, hence the crystal query. Love the 60s look - pointy CGs small gmt hand, but the date mag would annoy me as it's pretty hard to ignore. Also I'd swap that 70s/80s 'Jubbly' for a gen heavy oyster or folded links bracelet for a more accurate look. That said still a lovely piece. As for the hard core case mods, perhaps Joe finally got his hands on that CNC machine and a borrowed gen 1675 to work from? p.s. nice to see you back in the land of the living, Euno -
Considering A Gmt Ii As My Next Project....

Last I checked, most dealers had them. But beware, that movement got a real kicking from The Zigmeister. -
Considering A Gmt Ii As My Next Project....

Randy's sadism knows no bounds I should have bought more TW's when I had the chance back in the day - hindsight is a real bastard Personally, I'd go for the new bastardized hour-adj 16710, see if you can find a decent dial, drop a gen insert and you're 99% there. -
Pah, lotteries are just taxes for stupid people (*whisper* but you won't forget your friends when you win, will you JTB? ) Anyway, I thought you'd already bought a 26 million-to-one lottery ticket? The RWG Champions League Prize Pool I believe it's called....

Well Here Comes The 187 Rep Divers Strap And Clasp
docblackrock replied to tonton2000's topic in The Panerai Area
This is an absolute must-have even though I already have a similar-type gorgeous strap (see below) on my 187 (courtesy of Kostas who liberated it from one of "the others" - thanks mate!) As for jealousy, I think you're right - there'll be more than a few of those (self-styled) 'Eloi' trespassing down amongst us 'Morlocks' in the rep world Here's another pic (genuine) of the bad boy we'll be sporting soon (although I got the impression it'll be longer than 2 weeks from my communication with Angus ) -
Why not try ??? I mean that's how they all got down there in the first place....... ....admittedly it wasn't exactly voluntary back then, more like
-
Ken, I'd also love to come - Melbourne is on my 'list' (more so than Sydney) but for the fact that: a] I live 11,000 miles away b] I hate spiders, 'specially the poisonous ones c] I suspect the Ashes will have been a humiliation by then and the gloating will be too much to bear Remember to post pics for all us Northern hemisphere folks in the cold and dark

Again, the phrase 'like [censored] on a stick' springs to mind And there was I posting the request again only a couple of weeks ago Yay for PT, my new best friend -
What my esteemed friend said above is correct... Can't get, won't fit, don't bother

Bruce, if you find yourself not able to live with the colour clash, I have a recipient minty white Sub in search of a donor insert/pearl....

Five year follow up of laser in situ keratomileusis for all levels of myopia. Br J Ophthalmol. 2006; 90(1):20-3 O'Doherty M; O'Keeffe M; Kelleher C National University of Ireland, Mater Private Hospital, Dublin 7, Republic of Ireland. AIMS: To assess the long term refractive and visual outcome of patients who have laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) surgery. METHODS: This was a retrospective study of visual and refractive outcome of patients who had LASIK surgery performed in 1998 and 1999. All levels of myopia were included in the study. 49 patients attended for follow up. The main outcome measures were safety, predictability, efficacy, and stability. Postoperative complications and aberrations were also recorded. The mean preoperative spherical equivalent was -4.85. RESULTS: At 2 months postoperatively 67% of eyes were within plus or minus 0.5D of attempted correction with 81% within plus or minus 1.0D. At 5 years postoperatively 60% of eyes were within plus or minus 0.5D of attempted correction with 83% within plus or minus 1.0D. 88% of eyes had a vision of 6/12 or better at 2 months compared to 89% of eyes at 5 years. Best spectacle corrected visual acuity (BSCVA) was unchanged or improved in 51%. No eye lost more than one line of BSCVA. Overall, there was regression towards myopia with a mean change in refraction of -0.5D over the 5 years. As expected, severely myopic patients regressed more with a mean change of -1.06D. However, there was a high level of patient satisfaction with the surgery. CONCLUSION: LASIK surgery offers predictable results in terms of refractive and visual outcome with mild regression in refraction over time.

Chronus, just get your bloody four-eyes zapped already and give us all a break, ha ha You probably know more than the experts now. FWIW this late in the day, I'd say go Intralase if you can afford it (my advice is never skimp on paying for healthcare ) but equally traditional LASIK despite the horror stories you read in the media has a fairly robust long-term safety profile, and there's no published clinical data saying otherwise. Your question relating to why pro sports players are advised against I believe is related to the fact that these same people are infinitely more prone to eye trauma anyway, and any procedure that can affect vision significantly, for example during a period of adjustment, can leave that person at risk of more severe ocular traume such as detached retina etc. Look what happened to poor Momo (Sissoko) for example Just out of interest, is your desire for spectacle-free life anything to do with image/appearance and the fairer sex? (damn, what ever happened to the poke-with-stick smilie?!)

Pearl gone by bye big gaping hole in insert - fine for 1680 not so for 16610 and it's too embarrassed to be seen in public sans pearl. Really would like a like-for-like replacement; i.e. gen pearl. However until one surfaces, then if you have any tips for modding an aftermarket pearl, I'm all ears...much appreciated.

Perfect Ym With Custom Dial From Andrew......
docblackrock replied to www_watch's topic in The Rolex Area
Hmm I don't think so, Rolesium is just another name for platinum (named Rolesium to get around UK assay laws governing precious metals and hallmarking). Apat from the dial, the only other Pt part ion the gen is the insert - both parts give the characteristic 'heavy' feel of a YM compared to the other SS sports models. What we all want to see is THIS... -
Perfect Ym With Custom Dial From Andrew......
docblackrock replied to www_watch's topic in The Rolex Area
I believe like Andrew's other 'perfect' offerings, this has a cleaned/oiled/'proofed movt, and some minor cosmetic work in this case a nice set of U-shaped CGs. Dial might be slightly improved but it's not custom in that it doesn't have the correction most want to see, the dark red bold YM text. That's why Randy's custom project attracted a (noob) feeding frenzy -
I love it when things like this happen, like free airline upgrades and hotel suites. Now if only someone would point me in the direction of a gen replacement pearl - my Sub is bereft without it
-
Perhaps so, but generally that's more a Chelsea problem actually - I used to live near Highbury and sometimes sat with the 'enemy' - generally a nice bunch even when I was outed . Very knowledgeable, what I consider true fans. However, during the game, I have never witnessed such apathy and lack of vociferousness coming from these same supporters no matter what the score was. Then again, I'd probably feel the same if I had to listen to Wenger, Henry et al whining and complaining all the time. As I said before we didn't call it the 'Library' for nothing, shhhhhhhhh now......
-
Hmm, well relief I can understand however your original post didn't exactly focus on the good points of your team's performance... ...instead you preferred to highlight certain inadequacies of my team, with a hint of glee I might add . Happy to swap banter Ape and we've got along nicely till now, but you only have to look back a page at JTB's altercation with a gloating Rangers fan, to see how sometimes things appear. Oh and as for repeating the "Gerrard running the team all alone" media myth, well.... No doubt when the pain fades in a day or two, I'll break the ice and offer the hand of friendship in good spirits...but not right now. And whilst I'm feeling irritated, I'll mention that I am proud we have a manager who as well as achieving far more than Wenger, is one of the most decent, honest, and respectful around. Wenger showed his true colours last week, an incredibly bad loser, a disgrace as a role model (pushing and shoving another manager on the touchline WTF? ) and a lesser man for refusing the apology of Pardew.
-
I'll try my best not get irritated by this blatant provocation/gloating except to say I think (our midfield enforcer) Momo's loss mid-week with a dislocated shoulder hit hard and the team will take a game or two to adjust. But adjust we will. Also I think we always play better when there's some craic/atmosphere around the game - unfortunately the Emirates is no better than the old Highbury 'Library'. At least our fans don't take to booing our own team at home, like you lot have done all season If anyone wants other reasons why our away form is so poor, then look no further than wearing bloody yellow shirts again this year - always was and always will be an unlucky colour, not just in 2005 (apart from a game against Leverkusen we couldn't buy a result away from home in yellow kit) but going back 80s 70s etc. Damn adidas!!!! Back ON TOPIC, Champions League....step forward all those already in the last 16???? No, sorry not you Ape
-
Well, apparently someone can make them as Josh's new 212 and 253 can attest...

Quite right my friend, Chapter 15 I believe - a Rolex Oyster on stretch (rivetted) band - he even uses it as a knuckle-duster at one point As an aside, Fleming gave Bond a background as a Commander in Naval Intelligence, however only Royal Navy divers (mainly NCOs and below) were issued with Submariners. Bond as an officer would have not had a tool watch. The creative assumption that he would know of the Sub and therefore requesitioned one when he joined the Service, holds up fairly well though.
-
No, nor would he have an endorsement deal with a major Swiss house either . Given Civil Service/FCO budgets, he'd more likely be given a Casio. Seriously though, I don't see a problem with it. Sure the purists will sneer, but it really depends on just how limited this "limited edition" is? If it is say under 5000 pieces then unlike the old ubiquitous 007 SMP then it will add to the interest and resale value. We're talking a couple of tiny wee cosmetic differences, but hey nobody's interested in or willing to pay money for such things in the horological world are they?
