  1. Aaaah, we can but dream Rico - sadly, no way in hell the EP will be repped which is why the Monza c.36 is on my gen 2007 'buy list'. You're right in that a copy 7753 would be by far the best bet. I do wonder what the inordinate delay on the 7753 PAM 187 is all about (what 7 months or more now FFS?!) - surely they can either lay their hands on NOS inventory clearance 7753s or not?! The 7753 196s came out not long after the 7750 versions, after all. No, I suspect there's some smoke and mirrors, jiggery-pokery etc. going on and would not be surprised in the least to see a clone 7753 rolled out in the not too distant future. Similar $700 price though I'll bet
  2. Ok it may be packed in tightly to the point of bursting open without special fixtures and sure it may be exceptionally thin blah blah blah.... But, perhaps I wasn't clear - I'm not talking about a 1:1 copy of the 2894 per se machined to such exceptionally high specs, rather an analagous approximation; i.e. making the same configuration using the same principles as the 2894, hell I don't care if it's 11.5 or 12.5 lignes, X or Y mm thick, I'd just like a decent 3/6/9/ chrono movement rather than a basterdized 7750 with shitty subdial transfer gears. Surely it's possible? After all, it's still just a module. Bolted on. To base movement. Fact. Your comment about the EP doesn't really apply as that is a true integrated chrono (the best!) with all the craftmanship and ingenuity which that implies/entails.
  3. Don't forget geeky spectacles with two inch thick lenses.....and a 'polarised' 25x loupe
  4. Really, I was led to understand it was essentially a basic chrono module stuck onto a base movt? Marketed very differently of course
  5. What with all this recent discussion about copy 'copy' movts being used (asian 'ultimate' PO, Seagull, inferior asian 7750s, basterdized GMT modules on 2836 etc.), and since we all know ETA are trying to limit supply to in-house only, and discontinuing some models (7753) all of which means prices have been hiked up everywhere.....somewhere along the line, I had a thought Instead of obssessing about slight cosmetic imperfections and correcting those, why don't the factorys/dealers/watchsmiths/movement manufacturers concentrate on dealing with replicating a reliable 'pure' chrono movt with 3/6/9 subdials??? With the 7753 discontinued (and the PAM187 project god knows where), I'm talking about using the 2894 (see pic below) as a base (used in Invicta gens et al. also pic below). I'd just like to see some ingenuity put into movement development. Thoughts?
  6. Hmmm, current UK (Cousins) prices MUCH more than that...
  7. Mmmmm, 6542 Crazeeee price though - that's minty 1655/1665 territory - auction makes me think
  8. My U-PO arrived yesterday too gorgeous does not begin to describe - now sporting rubber
  9. I have some colleagues who work in Basel - they may have Swiss employers and Swiss bank accounts but they live just across the border in France, some the other side in Germany too, the Dreiländereck it's called. Might be helpful advice if you're going All accommodation etc. in Basel will be hard to come by/prohibitively expensive.
  10. LOL there's actually a Canadian smilie? Never noticed before... I suppose the nearest thing to a Brit (if you believe every Holloywood movie) is this... Any other stereotypes in there, hmmm....
  11. Maple syrup is nice though, mmmmmm...and you can always cite Linda Evangelista to negate the 'Celine factor'. Anyway it could be worse in terms of national emblems - YOU think you lot have a feckless cerebrally-challenged animal? Consider our mutual Commonwealth cousins from New Zealand Hey where's FlippedLidBonkers gone? C'mon we want photos of the second crystal 'incident'
  12. I also frequent both sides and yes there are some gents there too. However, there does tend to be a lesser proportion of 'willy wavers' here and overall it's a bit more warm 'n' fuzzy
  13. Sorry to hear that, hopefully a domain issue rather than a legal one? Whatever keep us posted - will you be throwing a 'new website-warming' discou...ahem I mean party?
  14. This is just priceless, "no I shall not be so stupid as to merely PRESS my third genuine crystal this time, no I shall EPOXY it in place, that'll work, mwahahahaha....'. Regardless of whether you're a troll or just a plain simpleton, I really think you need help. And by help, I mean the professional, comfy-leather-couch-and-thorazine-drip type of help. Here's another Darwin entry, especially for you The Zigmeister (hope it makes up for the 'hockey puck' slant )
  15. Interesting combo. I've always thought what it would be like to use nice pure white or blue SL, not just on Pams either. Stuff also comes in 'vintage tritium' colour, hmmmm.
  16. oh lordy lordy.... Sorry I know it's schadenfraude, but your trials and tribulations remind me of those annual Darwin Awards. Just out of interest, what watch/crystal was it, pics aren't clear.
  17. I think Archi was handling the update - something about an alignment fix on the second print run - obviously it's not back yet.
  18. Nice the PO's grandaddy Me, I'm after a gold version - hey, I need a decent crystal press
  19. Yep at least 6 months in the making I recall - lot of work required to mod the movt. I gave up on my Angelus c.240 (modification was not easy plus the best 203 base went out of production) and sold it 'as is' for just under 1k. Bet this ends up in a 6152/1 MM
  20. That 1655 looks like it's spent time Chez Nanuq Curious, if it's gen, why not slap a T116 on it? Cheap enough. Case shaping I agree is often overlooked on vintage pieces, something I'll be looking at carefully with my 6542 - lots of nice ref pics of rounded sloping case sides and lugs
  21. Yep, pictures are of a gen 16750. Price is on high side, more 1675 price than 16750 (even though it's a smaller run transitional model) I would ask for pics of movt, case back, serial lugs, in fact the serial so you can check with Rolex. Good luck but if in doubt, trust your instincts and walk away IMO.
  22. Christ, knickers in a twist or what? @kanerich/collector - my point was it has already well established that Omega reps, cases bezels etc. especially are not 1:1 not even the Ultimate PO. You're also very VERY wrong in your assumptions as I'm the last person to be anti-mod, Palp and Ubi are old friends, and I've modded many a watch, vintage Rollies, Pams etc. What I find strange though is trying to jerry-rig expensive genuine parts onto a 4th gen 42mm PO (middle-range in the sense it's not the best PO out there) - you're making a rod for your own back especially with the bezel - NF has kindly reminded you that it's a non-starter. If I were you I'd wait/hope/pray for an Ultimate 42. of course, it's your money to burn and who am I to stop you? Quite. Didn't mean to offend, it was more exasperation talking than anything else.
  23. Aha thanks, didn't realise the switch from EP to inhouse movt was as late as 2000 hence my use of the term 'modern'.
  24. Ah ok, what I meant was clasp was like the old YMs (before the reps had the flip completely polished). I always thought the modern Daytonas had THIS clasp, am I wrong?
