  1. Thanks for trying to cheer me up JTB, but a talented but 'damaged goods' South American brought in only to cover the imperious Xabi Alonso does not compare to events which are potentially jepoardising the entire future of the club. I still don't know what to make of it all.....it's like a particularly depressing soap opera, conspiracy theories, Middle Eastern business etiquette, investment banking and legal jiggery-pokery, shadowy figures lurking in the background etc. Still today it's less    but more    Ok if I was a writer then..... Imagine you're about to get married to a rich beautiful girl who you want to spend the rest of your life with....you've walked up the aisle and the priest/rabbi/druid whatever is taking you both through your vows....when for some unexplained reason and in a moment of madness, your testosterone-fuelled reptilian cortex kicks in and you notice the bridesmaid is even more gorgeous.....ok noted, then an exchanged look, a flicker of sexual interest, no big deal you say to yourself, but a smile of satisfaction at getting away with it and what you might get away with at some point later.....or so you think......until you notice your intended bride has caught you looking... .....uh oh..... .....but by then it's too late..... .....and you're left all alone at the altar..... .....and all your family are staring back at you like this..... Well that's one version of it anyway
  2. Yep, as I said, no accurate base exists......or does it? Hmmm, a case to fit gen dial? There's always more than one way to skin a cat
  3. Not to be pedantic but 'Ian Fleming's Bond' wore a unidentified 'Rolex Oyster' in the books...what you're really asking is 'what model Sub of his own did Ian Fleming lend to Sean Connery during the filming of Dr No?'. Sorry it's national anal-retentive day over here that's right you tell him Rico, not all of us can hang about all day "moderating" y'know Personally I'd trawl around for the Milgauss 6541 from Silix in the trade section - they do pop up from time to time and after all you're talking about a $300+ difference in price otherwise
  4. Yeah, leather....the perfect choice for running around in an African climate guess he just had to pop into the Freetown AD every week to get a new strap Still got some fairly significant screentime (esp that lovely AR coat), even closeup right at the end when he was sifting through the earth (*nah no spoilers here folks* ).
  5. Condition seems too good to be true! Renovation, ultrasonic cleaning, bridge/plate refinishing work? Actually more interested in the 'donor' than the recipient
  6. Ever reliable JTB, thanks for explaining as words fail me right now...just hope for a turnaround in next few days. Sorry I know it's probably trivial in the grand scheme of things but it means a lot to me both as a fan and soon-to-be returning shareholder
  7.
  8. Don't worry, he knew what you meant, he's just being JTB
  9. Problem with any 1675 project is the lack of a decent 'base' case. No rep is even close to being accurate in this regard in terms of fitting gen parts, dial, bezel etc.
  10. Was thinking the very same thing myself. Including photo! Also interesting that Mis Understood has been MIA also, not that I'm suggesting anything whatsoever...hey what a man's gotta do a man's gotta do, we all give in to our primal urges in the end
  11. Chronus broke this news to me earlier this week and I'm still fuming That such a complete and utter [censored] as Clarkson now sports the same watch currently glued to my wrist is almost too much to bear!!! I understand he used to wear a SMP so I bet he saw the Bond film a couple of months back and went out and bought it. [censored]. Much as I love all things car-related etc. I just can't bring myself to watch the show due to the obnoxious smug bullied-at-school chav mentality that it represents. I always liked the 'old' Top Gear with the numerous presenters such as Tiff Needell and that very tasty posh girl Vicky Butler-Something. But then it became a Clarkson ego vehicle with a studio full of sycophants. No wonder the other presenters resigned and went to do a rival show. That "hamster" bloke is an even bigger (or is that smaller) [censored] - not the crash itself (even though he had no business whatsoever being in that dragster) but the way he seems intent on milking it for all it's worth - it's just nauseating and lacking in class. What next??? Jamie Oliver wears Panerai? Feck me, if that ever happens I swear that's the end....
  12. You're right! I mean, look at that awful bold TRL
  13. Pugs' diagram is perfect - never mind size, weight, physique etc. the best rule of thumb is simply whether the lugs extend beyond the margins of your wrist.
  14. IMO, the only ones that are wearable without looking tacky are the Rolex and OP ones - these have been available from Homer for quite a while now (I bought some OP ones last year). The typography on the Omega and Tag just looks like you're providing free advertisement space - not a good look
  15. @Flavor, I have a mental picture now
  16. Jeez what a blowhard! Noobmariner??? Pfffff....... Now if you had used Ubimariner parts, now THAT would be something worth boasting about Behold...
  17. New granite worksurface maybe???
  18. @vmena I'm a little confused - why would you need to 'test' the width of a strap? It's either 20mm or 22mm. What you should be more interested in is the quality of the rubber and comparison with the genuine - if you want to do this, let me know
  19. Well why not post in that thread then instead of starting a (fairly pointless) new one? Lordy lordy.....*sighs deeply*
  20. And round and round we go, weeeeee....... To answer Kruzer's question - why? Because it would open up the possibilities for more and better models = increased revenue opportunity They have already cloned the 7750 (same basic movt, interchangeable parts etc.) so not a huge leap relatively-speaking - the words 'gap' and 'market' spring to mind. Also more likely to happen (ok well in terms of wishful-thinking then) than say a clone 2894 or complex modular chrono movt or even an EP! Only other possibility is that they produce some sort of analagous movt, not a clone as such but a decent 3-6-9 tri-c......oh god I'm having deja vu.....again
  21. Sorry can't be doing with the inconvenience of DSLRs (size-wise), so just got me a new compact point-n-shoot Leica D-Lux 3, mmmm.....
  22. Hmmm, just curious but what's THIS then??? The newer inferior model???

  24. I think The Zigmeister is right - at first I found this numpty amusing, and found it hard not to laugh at the sheer ineptitude and moronic behaviour (if true ) of the 'sapphire crystal massacre'. I recall describing him as our very own Darwin Award entry, which to my shame led me to post a picture of a somewhat cerebrally-challenged beaver, which caused Rob no small amount of distress for which I apologise profusely However, the joke (FlippedLid himself) is now boring and this guy is starting to irritate That said, I for one don't believe in censorship and unless there's evidence he's doing harm, I say just ignore the troll. If he IS trying to get noobs and novices to try his 'methods' and thereby break their watches, then I'm afraid I have to say 'more fool them'...
