  1. Call me eclectic but I have a hankering for the Torino Olympic version, in fact I posted last year after sampling one in person, gorgeous Don't believe me? Think the weird red logo and dodgy numeric indices are too much? The Olympic rings second hand too cheesy? Maybe so but subdial spacing aside there's just something about it, especially when paired with rubber
  2. Wouldn't have made any difference r11co (*mental note: may need to edit this reply in few hours time *)
  3. Me too my Croatian friend, me too Shame you didn't fancy a bet on this prize pool back in September, would have made things more interesting Don't get me wrong, I have a LOT of respect for your club but I wouldn't be so sure of this "footballing lesson" though especially after Milan's "choking lesson" in 2005 And I honestly wouldn't use the word perfect for those games in the QF and SFs. In attack, sure everything clicked into gear, but in both ties, you again lost concentration at the back and leaked goals like a dodgy PO with open He-valve and a missing O-ring It's that defensive frailty (including Dida) I'd be more worried about if I were a Rossoneri. I agree though about THAT Milan side of the late 80s/early 90s - truly great. Whatever happens tonight, it'll be a great game between two great European clubs - good luck and may the best team win!!! :1a: :1a: ...... ????
  4. Mmmm, a looker indeed Euno, reminds me very much of another 'old girl' you and I are acquainted with
  5. No such extreme measures required. Slipped those suckers right in, no mess or fuss necessary.
  6. I also got a spare set from watchbattery -
  7. Really Euno? Because it came as quite a surprise to me Like you guys, I've just been (almost subconsciously) looking for that 'fix' elsewhere outside of my vintage Rolex/Heuer/Omega comfort zone. I've always been repelled by Pateks, far too "patrician" for my tastes. It was a friend of mine (head honcho at local AD) who planted the seed last year. He is a nut, I mean, we're talking total obssessive who spent a day of his spa honeymoon touring the PP museum in Geneva (risking this -> ). Anyway he knows I have an aversion to PP, but pulled out a Nauty one day - the design just strobed in my brain like some past life memory and it's intrigued me ever since. Half of me wants to ask you for a link to your source, but the other half is quite happy not knowing - preferring the thrill of the chase to the kill By the way, this was the ad I recalled - cheesy with a heavy dose of saccharine perhaps, but the combination of the Riva and Nautilus just evokes classic style...
  8. A rare foray into the "other brands" area and what do I find??? A few likeminded souls who also suffer from this hard-to-explain penchant for the portholed Patek. Thank you! I thought I was alone in my secret shame but now feel boldened to come out of my Nautilus closet Euno, Ubi I should have guessed - great minds LOL There's just something about this retro design that speaks to me, it's also one of the few watch ads I recall (father and son, father driving motor boat, Nauty on wrist, misty Venetian lagoon). Can't wait to see pics although I'm not sure about those hands, dial and datefont. Would love to see a more contemporary variation though like that 5980 chrono Ubi posted
  9. I believe skeleton hands are only on the triple-reg chrono not the twin register.
  10. Me likey very much, been waiting for this one with the 7750. Interesting though on all GTs, how the gen 'prancing horse' logo looks less defined than the rep - gen has a more fluid/mercury look - ah well it's a great looking piece, so who's nitpicking?
  11. Disaster is a bit strong, although the whole Julia Roberts playing herself thing was just cringemaking embarrassment 12's editing was atrocious and film felt very disjointed. I liked the European locations though, Amsterdam, Rome, Como etc. and Vincent Cassel's 'Count' was just a great character I thought.
  12. Just saw trailer and if I'm not mistaken (and despite his 'ambassador' deal with Tag), Brad Pitt seems to be sporting one of the new anniversary GMTII's with ceramic bezel. Can't see which exactly due to lighting. Looks like TT in first grab - although wasn't sure it was even a Rollie at first because it looks larger than 40mm on his girly wrist Later on, close-up playing slots and I'm thinking it could be FG (or even the new SS?) although I'm thinking former since it fits better with character. Since he's wearing it al destro it's hard to see if there's a contrasting crown. Film looks cool as usual - Pacino is obvious but great casting, and thank god Julia Roberts has (at least I hope so) been ditched!
  13. Jaw-droppingly stunning M. I've never seen a c.1030 in such excellent condition before, usually rusted up a little. Congrats
  14. Although the two SE parts of the cartel do look decent, however I wonder if those parts will be available? Not holding my breath
  15. Wasn't there an unfortunate beaver too? Something to do with insulting all things Canadian.... Well, The Zigmeister
  16. After some reflection I'll say publicly what hithero I've only shared privately.... I'm fairly certain something has gone seriously wrong with this project, there are too many details that don't add up compared to what Jay and I swapped many details over. I'm talking minutae here, the accurate reproduction of which, he was keen as anyone to bring to fruition. Just doesn't make any sense....unless the delay was due to the original maker pulling out? Like when your architect/builder walks off site halfway into a build and you're left with finding someone at very short notice to complete but whose standards are much much lower. I had it from the horse's mouth that the base for this would be the U-PO. Even the serial no. does not match the original spec.
  17. *cough* *ahem* If I'm not mistaken, no-one backed AC Milan (what no-one at all for the six-times winners? ).... ....er, which means that...according to the rules.....errr, doesn't it JTB??? Or do we have to await the final outcome? AC Milan vs. Liverpool
  18. Euno, I got mine from Eddie although the 'ultimate' moniker was coined, I believe, by Andrew/Josh. Seeing as you're teetering on the edge, HERE'S a nice friendly shove over the edge
  19. Ditto  Feel like I've wasted a lot of time to be honest....
  20. Top class, you and Ubi both know I don't 'feel the Daytona love' like you two, but any watch with a ZEP heart (what no pic? ) makes me drool a little I must admit. Congrats on your new baby - what's next I wonder?
  21. Join the club Euno, maybe we should start a 'petition'? (no polls allowed here of course ) Whilst I like the late '60's triple reg models, I feel they've got a little too much of the Daytona about them, and prefer the later (early 70's) cushion-case models with twin register and date...in fact gens can still be picked up for around
  22. What can I say? Sometimes you've got to pay to play Anyway, it was $170 not $200 and the seller threw in a Omega service case - not a bad deal at all for the gen strap IMO - which is probably why it went very quickly. Josh's are not bad for $35 but don't forget his is a 20mm SMP strap, not a 20mm PO strap - buckle tongue, holes, and markings are all very different in PO
