I'd also be interested in getting several crystals done assuming EU members are ok? Sorry, feel like this project has passed me by a little.
cheers
Doc
Actually the medical term is PPAA - post-project anticlimatic apathy
And yes I too have suffered from its paralysing grip
Very nice pieces Euno - and since I'm as apathetic to Daytona's as it's possible to be, that means something. But you tease sir....no money shot? I wanna see that V.72 in all its glory so if you wouldn't mind popping off the caseback and baring all???
cheers!
Here's my tip on modding an aftermarket pearl (first pic which had a fairly accurate construction to begin with) - tip is on p.2 after the gen pearl installation.

Thanks freddy. To be honest, it's remained unworn and in the dark for this reason for a long long time, almost embarrassed to show itself next to my gorgeous 1665.
Colour-wise the gen pearl was a very close match to the exisiting generic pearl on there, but yes, the 'sparkle' was the big difference. I remedied it to some extent using THIS (borrowed from my ever-understanding GF ) which added a nice lustre to the surface - 95% there I'd say but still didn't quite match the reflective qualities of the gen pearl shown below.
Bingo! Keen eye freddy. Can't beat the genuine article for that je ne sais quoi look
That said, IMO the most accurate mod in this case was a special rouge polish job to the case and bracelet, now much shinier close to gen.
What, no-one can spot the swapout between my first and last pics???
Or maybe no-one cares?
Maybe I should take it as a compliment, since it's a slight but noticeable difference if you know what you're looking at.
Look again
No clue on Seamaster reps, but I do know Asia is not the only source of reps, merely the largest - fairly common knowledge that some stunning vintage Heuer reps have been flowing out of Eastern Europe in the last few years.
In terms of interest and enthusiasm, definitely, and very little modern stuff - vintage style all the way
Currently have a small gen collection, supplemented by some vintage franken projects - can't beat the thrill (and frustration ) of putting together frankens. No more gens right now though as unfortunately, my yearnings exceed my earnings to some extent, and that market has gone a little crazy recently.
I understand Archie's POV - but still, they are gorgeous pieces to behold. I passed on the opportunity to pick one up last year - some regret there definitely but lessened by the fact it eventally went to a good home and a very nice gent to boot (reelamore). Not all vintage collectors have 'issues'
Here's some pics almost identical (bar destro config.) to what Enzo is selling - hope you don't mind Gil, I may take that baby off you some day
I wonder if it comes with a 150-page manual of how to set the time, how to buckle the strap, in which social situations to wear and NOT wear the watch, and a daily diary of the blood, sweat and tears that went into modifying the movement to fit?
Hey, who/what you guys calling a Noob?
Ain't nothin' 'noob' about me or the old girl
*edit* Another pic but this time there's a slight difference (I know, APART from the white balance Pug )......can anyone spot it?
Archi - we DO have it here
I agree about adding an accurate Tanti-look to the Ti-case, but the gen bracelet is SS/Ti, hmmm
SubZero - thought as much, was that after it had been 'secured' the normal way? I'm sure those pushers must leak
Excessive drooling is a sign of rabies you know, which along with the psychiatric symptoms makes me wonder about your state of mind, especially as my thoughts when looking at this are.....
Eeuuuwwww......
Encapsulates everything that's ugly about the Submersible series. Makes the Seiko dive series look very attractive in comparison.
^^^
bumpety-bumpy,
Apologies for exhuming this corpse of a thread but feeling reckless again and wondering if any poor soul achieved/failed miserably in attempting this mod?
Anyone???
Question is, do I play and just cook the bracelet??? Or get the case locked up tighter than a clam's sphincter and hope for the best? Those non-screw chrono pushers are a worry....
You complete and utter bastard!
Lesser men would have given up on bagging this blighter long long ago, but not Nanuq.
Time to spill the beans my friend, this is going to be a BEAST of a tale, I can tell....
