you DO seem to have a penchant for the older British strict and 'misunderstood' schoolmistress type, hmmm Is Dame Judy who you imagine when......eeeeurgh, actually best not go there

Just a heads-up if anyone desperately wants one??? Although his explanation for sale is a bit lame (I mean, who buys a spare strap and doesn't check it is the correct size? Also what kind of useless AD would sell a strap without clarifying the exact watch it is destined for? Just makes me wonder ) - the listing says this is about to be discontinued .... ...so I checked and indeed it is no lie, these won't be available for very much longer, my Omega source confirms this click HERE

Well well well I guess I missed this.....7 pages of reading and it's the same old soap opera As the OP from the similar thread last year, I thought I'd play sniper and get a sly dig in before Admin locks this thread To RT, Cray, Longshot etc - well done, I'm glad that there are still some amongst us with memories longer than the average clown fish, and who believe in the community as a whole and not just what they personally gain from it - sad but true but there's becoming less and less of us. What I've learnt from these threads is this...as an old mentor of mine once said, "never ever argue with morons...they'll just drag you down to their level and beat you with experience". To Denisegold - having read your mucous-laden drivel throughout this thread, you'll be on my, and I'm sure, many others 'ignore/block' list - your intentions were so plainly transparent, almost ironic....in fact, you are truly the sycophant's sycophant. I'd say 'congrats' but I'm trying to cut down on the sarcasm these days. To Joe - all I'll say is what I said in your other 'departure' post in the most flippant and indifferent manner I can convey...'BYE THEN!

Zzzzz.......hmphhh?? Sorry you were saying....? It could be argued your post is actually contributing to the very problem you seek clarification on i.e. why not post something interesting yourself, a question, a picture, some query....SOMETHING!!! As opposed to complaining why this place isn't "entertaining" you enough. I'm not being grumpy, just telling it like I see it. This is a forum, a community, that encourages contribution, maybe perhaps you have lost sight of that?

Oh dear, strange as I know Jay had a gen strap to make this from - just shows the tolerances are extremely low. But yes, no problems with gen strap in this respect. BTW, is it just me or is that line in CR referring to his co-ax SMP? It's not clear, but by the time he's on the train, he's suited and booted on his way to the Hotel Royale, and therefore has already submitted his 'patina'd' PO for the Antiquorum auction Calling r11co, come in r11co

Not quite my friend, not quite.... Talc is not a bad idea - as well as touch, I also think there must be something you can do in terms of its anti-static properties to avoid attracting dust in the first place, hmmm Nice pics Puggy

Anyone got the new replica 45mm PO rubber strap yet?
docblackrock replied to dangerman's topic in The Omega Area
Yep, that's right, no dust not a speck, smooth as a Jessica Alba's backside..... As for soft, well it's hard to describe - it has a heavy duty inflexible construction, but is slightly soft to the touch. Another differentiatior from the rep is that water just evaporates off the rubber surface in milliseconds. Likely I'll get one of the rep straps myself soon just as a comparison - will post of course. -
What superlative can I add that hasn't already said??? Can't match our Alaskan friend's tale of d'erring do, so I'll just say this... Ubi is the essence of what makes this place great and I count myself fortunate to know him. cheers Randy

My buyer also paid a nice premium for the original hands and don't kid yourselves, the market for these babies goes way beond our own little insular world here As for completed projects, trust me there are quite a few about - as to why they're not showcased, I could not possibly comment

Seriously TT, take care Even if you're not in the Shed End, and 'undercover' (no wearing anything Red) if Liverpool score or Fat Frank/Didier LadyBoy dives for a penalty or something similar and you blow your cover, you'll be removed by the stewards....and that's the best case scenario, it could get ugly

You two remember to decontaminate yourself afterwards, surrounded by all those blue 'cooties' I see Moan-inho has already started mouthing off about LFC p.s. Edge, where are you man? No fun without someone to bait

...that looks rusted to bits As a comparison, I sold my key-wound c.240 (fully serviced, mint cosmetic condition) for around 1k last year.

some serious bidding will take place methinks

I know what you mean, for me it's the snow-sun combo just that crisp fresh feeling, mmmm. Thing is here in Blighty, we can vary from winter to summer in the same week (sometimes in 24 hours!) - the clocks going forward last month was like an 'instant summer' switch (London Marathon last weekend hit 27C/80F!). Going from this... To this... That's what I love, the seasons changing. But I'm guessing you guys don't get much of that to any extreme. Euno especially - is it true LA doesn't really have seasons???

MILITARY SUB INSERT SUB INSERT AND ANOTHER ONE... Everything says legit, the seller, the description (NOS, hmmm).....that is until I look at the close-up pics.....what, no acrylic pearls???

http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=24335 My thoughts in that thread.... "Whilst I share the majority's consensus of horror and revulsion, I must say I'm not surprised in the least. Rolex lost the plot some time ago IMHO and have become a parody...like the CEO of Jacob went on 'job swap'. Even the most conservative of the new models - the SS Anniv. GMT - is merely what most diehard purist Rolex fans wanted to see at BW 2006 instead of the FG/TT monstrosities they launched. That decision alone spoke volumes in that they had lost touch not just with their core customers, but tragically with their own heritage, and once you go down that road..... One could argue that the blinged-out versions are only mirroring current trends (as opposed to setting them ) but whilst the 'ice pepsi' raises a wry smile, the rest are....actually words fail me. And as for the Milgauss reissue my god, what are these people thinking??? Sure the vintage models are highly collectable/valuable now as with the 1655s, but that's based on perceived rarity and limited production. The watch was a commercial failure last time and it will be no different now. There is no market for this watch IMO. Christ they even made the thing look ugly...those tan/orange indices and orange lightning second hand??? What is it, a case of planetoceanitis??? No no no Oh and it gets even worse with the YMII - yes, they've even bastardized the classic YM!!! I mean, the name like that on the bezel??? And the dial??? Are these people on drugs? Either it's some bad [censored], or it's a case of 'emperor's new clothes' in the design department. Truly, if I wanted an interesting/innovative chrono with Regatta timer that actually looked classic/tasteful I'd much rather have the new (and long-delayed) Tag Heuer Calibre S. *whirrrrr....whirrrr*....you hear that??? That's Hans Wilsdorf spinning in his grave.

Aah, Alaska....a place it's so cold, that polar bears go around stealing people's scarves

no prob Randy, will drop you a line

Euno, thanks again for exhuming another great vintage thread Serves as a gentle reminder to me to get my act together (although I have not had any free time of late) and start progressing with my projects. I have a 'Gaussy myself, one of the old run silix 6541 - plan was to 'upgrade' to a 6542 GMT (mmmm, acrylic) but there's a few pangs of guilt about cannibalising my 'Gaussy in the process

Only us three left now it's SF time - 3 English teams ( ) plus 1 Italian team First legs: Tues 24 April AC Milan vs Scumchester Wed 25 April Chelsea (Edge) vs Liverpool (Doc and Admin) T, here's praying you didn't hex the match with your premature victory dance Actually feeling pretty confident, especially with our favourite ginger Norwegian and his left foot, he just loves a bit of Chelsea he does Edge - thanks for your 'donation'

Yeah that Borat wannabe in the thong would ruin my beach view too Still, poor old Admin also has to suffer similar conditions in summer, terrible just terrible, and it's like this 24-hours a day Not long now.....

Yeah, the auction (Antiquorum's Omegamania in Geneva last weekend) was a frenzy by all accounts - the "heavy patina" PO was the last lot just after a CR edition which was mint unworn and numbered 1/5007. As for what it's worth, well it was worth whatever anyone was prepared to pay for it which in this case was

Hmm, interesting ok then since this is a nitpicking thread...aside from the alignment, your logo actually looks different to mine (2006 model U-PO) - yours looks thin and has a rounded almost 'bas relief' profile, whereas mine is bolder with flat profile. On a more general note, I think there are three types of flaws: Category A - Glaring flaws Malformed pearls, iffy datefonts, bracelet gaps, broken clasps, DOA movements etc. These are the flaws we should not accept and that the dealer should make right - QC rejects usually dropshipped. Replacement watch should be the norm. Category B - Minor flaws Misaligned datewheels, crooked markers, movement issues etc. These are flaws that usually can be easily corrected by buyer, more often than not the easiest route (compared with shipping back etc.) and should be reconciled by dealer with either replacement part or an appropriate % discount on next purchase as goodwill. Category C - Microscopic/Loupe-only flaws Far too many to list here but the logo alignment showcased by the OP fits this category IMO. I don't think any of us have a right to demand dealers replace. If anything, I've sometimes reported an issue, just in case it was a wider QC thing which the dealer ought to be aware of (similar to adverse event reporting with medicines) but with no implied or direct request to be compensated. I think anything otherwise is poor form. These flaws, we all know them, we've all suffered with them....very often it's these and these alone that haunt our nightmares! But you know what, if there's one thing I've learned is that you shouldn't wind yourself up into a frenzy over such things. If you really can't see it with the naked eye then let go, crack open a beer and relax and enjoy this hobby and your life - the latter is too short by far. Case in point, my grandfather once told me about the time he bought a new Bentley. He loved that car and drove it every weekend for a year. One day though he thought heard a rattle coming from behind the dashboard when idling. It was only intermittent and consequently drove him mad literally, trying to recreate it and locate the exact source. After 5 or so visits to the service yard without success, they finally announced they had found the cause and fixed it. Initially he was delighted, but soon after my grandfather sold the car he once loved so much - for him, the enjoyment was gone because from that point on, he was always listening for the rattle. Of course, he found out years later from the mechanic, there was no rattle. "Whatever you do with your life..." he used to say to me, "never ever listen for 'the rattle'".
