You are reading my thoughts By-Tor trying to convince myself the black is better value as I can wear it on rubber also, but that azure beauty has always called out to me. Especially as I don't own a blue-dialled watch....no that's right, not even the venerable (but dull) SMP. Decision will go down to the wire on this one, I'll probably waver so any morale support appreciated Can't wait to see the bracelet - the gen is just so much better than the old date-only bracelet, feel, clasp everything. I know what you mean about the datewheels, same issue seen with the IWCs, but the trade-off for having this gorgeous Aquagraph 'Lite' case is well worth it IMO.

According to King, it's available now, pics going up later today

Wanting an accurate Ti Chrono Avenger so badly it hurts right now...posts like this don't help

Now don't be taking that as any excuse to hijack this thread to talk about the Cousteau! Any opportunity with you Pugs, I know...

Which dark brown strapped rep should I buy?
docblackrock replied to Timepiece's topic in General Discussion
Yes indeed, pics ARE appreciated -
No bracelet yet. She means rubber strap with steel tang buckle. She also says 44mm on site, gen is actually 43mm so safely assume this is just measurement typo and case size is accurate to gen they used to CNC. Thickness of gen is 14mm compared to the Aquagraph's 15.5 (same case essentially, analagous to Sub vs. SD).

Funny isn't it, all the praise this model's receiving..... Where were you lot when I put this up for POLL last Christmas?!!!!!! Well???? Too busy creaming yourselves over another IWC probably So, does this mean tonton and I get a prize? OK, rant over....yes, the logo on the gen is same as this rep, a raised/stuck-on silver logo. Good so far. Blue dial version is nice, hope we see the silver dial too like with the Carrera...the black is too common, although I concede it is the only one that suits the rubber. Pity about the datewheel though - the gen I mean, white on black dial never looks good. I hear they are changing this on the next version though. However, I'd like to see the bracelet first before commenting. Also, will email King to check case size - this model is based on the gorgeous 43mm Aquagraph case (albeit not as thick as it doesn't have a 2894 and isn't similarly depth-rated), slightly larger than the 41mm standard Aquaracer.

Yep saw that, also on Trusty although his pics show another flaw (non-PVD screws on dial). Looks VERY nice if you can get past the crappy date window and the slightly off subdial spacing.

Funny I thought 'Angus' when I saw the reference to super rep. I put no stock in that term anyway. The Rolex engraving has already been done for a long time on the TOG and others, etched or engraved quality differs I recall....not a design feature I like on the gens anyway. So I suspect the only part of this rep that will be 'super' is the ceramic insert. I seriously doubt the case will be accurate, for all the obvious reasons that have been discussed to death over the years. And then there's the movt.....bastardized (albeit correct-stack) 2836 again?

You can be as anal as you want about it, personally I couldn't care whether it is 42, 41.5696797 or indeed 40.3mm. And of course, the larger 7mm triplock crown and bezel assembly affect the size. All I know is that it appears larger on the wrist. It's not a trick of the eye...since it has the same standard 20mm bracelet (Daytona-type also seen on late model Yachties) you only have to look at the width of the individual lugs compared with the old GMTII to see it's not the same diameter, whatever anyone says. And no, I'm not going back in to see my guy with a set of digital calipers

Erm, source please? Or just an calculated guess? Super-rep? Anyway, of course a more accurate version will be available at some point, you can already get a nice but basic first-gen attempt from certain dealers. L-dizzle - I am fortunate enough to have seen and tried on a 116710 in the flesh (or is that 'metal'? ), my local AD had on "on approval" behind the counter and very much not for sale. I can confirm that the case (and bezel) is definitely and noticeably larger than the standard 40mm diameter, so that rumoured 42mm sounds right. But what is most apparent is the thickness of this beauty, no more waif-like (i.e. comfortable) GMT dimensions, this baby has the girth of a Sub at least (although wears very differently, not like any other Rollie I've encountered). And as Miss Understood will no doubt attest, girth is all that matters p.s. the watch is a real eye-catcher in every sense, truly elegant but modern, and I couldn't help myself and put my name down there and then.

Exactly! Gloss-finish plastic two piece 'sandwich' insert (black cutout on top of white insert) would do the job very well...

What you mean like THIS insert?

Laz, nice post mate

Just catching up.....must say my thoughts are exactly Pug's (albeit a little less eloquent). Personally I applaud EU legislators ruling MS had violated anti-trust laws and hit them for $600 million or whatever it was. God knows someone has to stand up to Darth Gates and the Evil Empire. Oh and as for fairness, I recall Apple being similarly hauled up for similar issues in France re. iTunes.

Seems to be a growing band of Apple naysayers these days, gone are the good old days when us Mac users just went about our business pretty much unnoticed and the iPod was a 5 gig brick that only worked with a Firewire enabled Mac Do you have any insight into the .Mac snub, Pugs? Just that my renewal is up in Sept and for the first time in 10 years, I'm thinking of giving it the boot.

Push email in the iPhone's case actually utilises Mac Mail app (makes Outlook look ancient) and push actually means 'always on' instant transfer from mail server to device. Most smartphones here in EU (e.g. Nokia N73, N95 etc) support it same as Blackberry. What I don\t get is the tieup with Yahoo....when Apple has their own subscriber mail service as part of the .Mac subscription. God knows it's extortionately high priced for what you get at the moment, so this seems a further snub to loyal DotMaccers. And yeah we 'demand' 3G, so would you if the networks bid billions for the licences and passed the cost onto us the consumers, yet even in central London getting a decent and consistent 3G signal is a crap shoot
-
Jealous, I too would like a preview, how does the 'pinch' gesture work in practice? Two queries though.... 1. No push email??? Not according to Apple...."iPhone supports the most popular email standards
-
PSP also works Can't wait for the EU 3G iPhone not the 'retro' version launched in the US Finally an OS X-running Crackberry-killer, just hope it will be available without having to pony up for an 02 (of all the networks! ) contract

Leo, sent you a note already but just a confirmation/reminder I'll take one for my 187 Sub (i.e. Daylight-type DW alignment ) thanks Doc

It's like you're trying to speak I know it, but I just don't understand a word you're saying

You know, it's almost become a perverse sadistic pleasure of mine....waiting until the salesman can almost taste the sale, the fine art of saying nothing, a sudden apathetic eyebrow, reconsidering perhaps.....you can almost see the bead of sweat on their brow. Did it with my Merc and five grand (sterling) came off in the blink of an eye....course it helped that the Audi dealership is literally next door. Must admit though, it depends how I'm treated.....high-end watch purveyors are either incredibly patronising/annoying/rude or respectful/pleasure to deal with. No grey areas it seems. Stupid perhaps, but I'd rather pass up a bigger discount and shop elsewhere for that service. My local AD (probably the best independent AD in the country outside Bond St) for instance, I don't ask or expect a discount.....but I'm always treated well even if I just go in for a browse and a chat....they're playing the long game of course, very smart, and I respect that.

Aha, thanks....hiding in plain sight obviously
