  1. Sounds a little off to me. But, if you want it, I'd be happy to bid on it for you and ship it to you. C
  2. That is just awful. What's the point?
  3. I concur with that thought. Though I believe the trade reviews is also extremely important to those "trolling."
  4. I agree on the collected brands idea. Probably generate more interest. You might want to think about some sort of montage. Some members have nice shots of a few of their reps/gens together that look pretty cool. Also, partials of certain ones looks pretty cool up close. See dluddy's signature for an example. Finally, a nice movement might look good. C
  5. Sounds reasonable to me. If we participate, Can we be called a Super Supporter or Super-Duper Supporter?
  6. While I'm a newb, I realized early that I wanted to be a supporter. But, I can't agree with Carlsbadrolex on the shutting down of all unpaid members. Unfortunately, that is simply the way things are in this world. Limitations on what you can do as an unpaid member, on the other hand, seems reasonable. Sometimes it takes a little time for people to understand what a great place this is, so why cut them off? Those that sit around and just use the forum for an easy and cheap way to get reps, that's another story. Just my two cents (1.65 Canadian). C
  7. I noted that myself, so I will be interested to see the response. My guess was that the seller deleted the post himself. But, I really have no idea. I think the points you make are well taken.
  8. cj, Welcome to the family. I'm still fairly new, but my first rep is now about 3 months and going strong. It is an Omega SMP with the ETA movement. Since then I also purchased a number of others at different price ranges. I've had most for a couple of months and no problems yet. From what I have seen, the dealers are responsive to most problems and so long as you purchase or trade for one of theirs you will be in good shape. If down the road it dies, then you can just look at it as a future project to mod on your own. Have fun and enjoy. cdv
  9. If anyone has any information on this I would sure like to know. I'm thinking of taking the plunge on this one. I love that watch.
  10. Nice catch. Something about the face seems off also.
  11. That is what I was looking for. I need to research the "Trade-dress or Design Violation" issue a little more. Thanks. This seems to be similar to the issue raised by ferrariz, but I could see the crownguard or Triplock mechanisms themselves being trademarked. I was speaking in more general terms of just the body and design, but again, ferrariz point seems to cover that as well. For example, take a Black Magic, pretty distinctive without looking at the crown or dials. So under the trade dress or design issue, it would appear that I would still have a problem if I used the same body, screws, bezel, etc. with no reference or markings related to HBB. That would seem harsh, but I guess it is the design that makes it so popular to some.
  12. Obviously I'm coming late to the party, but just checked Florida (US) law and possession is not illegal, unless you intend to sell. Sale over $1000 is felony, under $1000 is misdemeanor. On a side not, if anyone reads this, as best I can tell the illegal act is the fact that the rep has a mark that is not authorized by the mark holder. So, if I build my own rep, but leave off any marks, then I should be legal, right? Most of the watches I buy are based upon looks and not whether it is a name brand, it just happens that the cooler watches are typically the expensive brands.
