  1. This is no longer the case. Also, living in an apartment with a Concierge helps. Someone who will take care of the post when you're not there.
  2. Easy. Me and Mrs Pugwash were on that combined. 80k
  3. UPDATE 02-01-2008 Latest Update Earlier in 2007, I ordered a Rolex Submariner LV from TTK. I don't wear it much, but feel happier it's in my collection. The Breitling Superocean Steelfish was the watch that spawned the discussion in which Joshua used my name ("Dun be a Pug") as an insult, and when Precious Time was the first non-Cartel dealer to stock it, breaking their alleged exclusivity, it was a must-have. I won second-place a raffle organised by TWP and the prize I won was a Quartz watch, so he offered me its value in part-exchange against something I would actually enjoy and wear. This Breitling Chrono Avenger was on special offer and, even though it is a fantasy model in steel, I liked it enough to willingly order it. It's since had K2222 do the AR coating on the sapphire and I've changed the steel bracelet for a dark brown Breitling deployant from Precious Time, to take it up a notch and add some class. The IWC 3717 Flieger Chrono is a classic design and is a very well-made watch. Precious Time supplied the watch and Cousins supplied the ETA day and datewheels. I've been waiting a year for the IWC 3719 Aquatimer Chrono replica. Once again, I got this one from Precious Time in the UK. Stunning watch and one that will most likely stay in rotation for a while.
  4. Fantastic. That means even in the worst nightmare ETA scenario, most of our needs are met.
  5. Is it a drop-in replacement or do you need new hands/stem/dial?
  6. My group buy comment was a joke. There's no way you could get 100 people on here to buy a specific movement. Good to see you back here, Rob.
  7. The trick is to know when the name is Swiss French or Swiss German.
  8. I'd be good for London, too. I'm sure I can convince work to fly me down for a few days.
  9. If I find the tooling marks, I will update my post, but I've not found any yet.

Of course. However, the social security comment, regardless of the source, was a socialist comment not a US liberal one. There's no need for a liberal alert when you're reading the LAT as it's a given. What next, Conservative alerts when we're quoting Fox News? I was pointing out the logical conclusion of his "if you're not with us, you're against us" political stance using humour. Admittedly it was cheap humour, but it's Hogmanay, so I wanted to make it perfectly clear it was a joke.

You mean Socialist Alert, surely. Or is anything not your flavour of fascism Conservatism called Liberalism now?
  12. Tooling marks? There aren't any on my crystals. Well, none I can see, and I've looked.
  13. Accuracy? I'm sure it's accurate in its own way. However, many of his points are like "My soup blender can't grind coffee beans". I don't live anywhere with good 3G (or even consistent Edge) coverage and am relegated to GPRS most of the time. Speedwise, it's ok as long as I'm not trying to stream video, and it's more than fast enough for email and browsing the BBC News site. However, I am usually not far from a WiFi spot. The iPhone isn't ideal for everyone, much like the Blackberry isn't for everyone, either.
  14. I don't know if Chieftang does (Chiefy? Do you have a guy?) but K2222 can remove and reinstall the crystal. You can just send him the watch and he gets his watchmaker to remove and refit the crystal for something like $20 extra.
  15. The last wristshot of 2007 and it's of my 187. Made from parts of poor condition watches, a good movement meets a good case and gets topped off with Jakub's finest AR work and a rustic Toscana. A superb piece of brutal metal, steam-punk good looks, a parts-bin masterpiece.
  16. So, after having been lent K2222's Ingenieur, I decided it would be a good idea to get a couple of my own watches done. I sent Jakub the crystals and waited the required amount of time, and the crystals made it back to me. This means I can perform an objective review of watches I know very well. Both these watches are worn from time to time and both of them looked like they could really do with the AR on their sapphires. What can I say? Amazing work! Both watches feel more real, especially the black-dialled 187. Once again, the crystal disappears at most angles. Just catching it out of the corner of my eye, I can tell it's ARed to oblivion. I'm sorry that I haven't been able to set up my light tent as the effect would be even more visible with well-lit photos. These photos don't do the watches justice. Click the picture for a larger (1280x960) version: Click the picture for a larger (1280x800) version: The only hard part about getting AR done is choosing which watches to get done next and waiting. The rest is easy. Can I live without my PO for a while? How about my Fortis? I wonder what a Seiko Monster with AR would be like? Getting decent AR makes an average rep look costly.

Come on, this has to be a joke.
  18. A chronograph isn't designed to mark the passage of time; It's designed to read time between two instances. You're not supposed to use it as a timer - that's what bezels are for.
  19. Glasgow. You know it makes sense.
