Who said it was feminists?
Most of the complaints about the racy avatars were from people like me who didn't want to be judged by co-workers or people in the same houses for looking at low-rent sites. It's hard to explain to friends that you're actually spending time on a treasure trove of horological wisdom when they decide to see what the fuss is all about and it looks like a teen boy's fast-car forum. It's nothing to do with feminism and everything to do with good taste.
Now, I don't mind the occasional heaving bosom, it has been noted, but when it starts getting out of hand, it cheapens the place. It's like Broken Windows, in my opinion. While you can look at Tech's blue-topped avatar and see that it's quite tasteful, even if it is a stripper-titted babe, checking the lob-rate of her mammalian protruberences, someone else could then assume you're supposed to have porn avatars to fit in.
The thing that I actually find funniest is that these guys want to be seen as sexy women. I don't have a problem with that, but you have to admit it's funny.
