  1. It's really quite simple. Dealers have the right to raise the price of their merchandise and we have the right not to buy it.
  2. That was you! Man that looked awesome. You read so many post here and see so many pictures you forget what and from who yoiu saw. Can you tell the the details on the marker I found the company but would probably have to go mail order for it, but I need to know what green color you used. Did you use it on white stiching? Is is really permanent? Looked AMAZING
  3. And the glove have come off here as well. Pity we can't have civil exchanges with one another. Even more of a pity that some members are taking advantage of the dealers.
  4. I admit the brown ones come out nicer the cheap camel plastic looking rep strap is what is in the picture. The darker plastic rep strap comes out darker. Black, well I just don't soak for as long maybe less than 4 or 5 minutes, just enough to take off the plastic sheen, it still leaves it lighter than I like almost a greenish washed out black which doesn't look too bad with the green markers of the PAM. Now I saw a thread where someone used a certain permanent maker to do just the stitching a greenish color to match. That look real nice.
  5. Doesn't everyone wear a tux with jeans? Seriously though I hated the rep strap that came with it and still haven't found what I want to replace it with. So I stumbled across a thread on the dark side which showed how to distress a strap and I played around. Basically, soaked it in bleach for like 10 minutes, then with a toothbrush, brushed away the cheap looking paint that covers a nicer leather underneath. Then left in the sun to dry, used some leather cleaner and scrubby sponge to scuff, and that's it. It does look much better, as I figured I had nothing to loose. I tried it on a black strap as well.
  6. Not surprised about your number 1 pick Randy, it sure is beautiful and so much work went into getting it that way.
  7. I would say my top three are as follows: Omega Planet Ocean (4th Gen Orange) Just a beautiful and fun watch to wear and a real close rep to the original. Worth the hype! Breitling Navitimer (fighters) The reason I got into reps in the first place, but one of the last I purchased. Nice dress watch and not too much bling. Panerai 111h just plain and simple beautiful watch, streamlined and elegant, very versital with many strap options. Hard to pick three, but as of now those would be it.
  8. I think Sam, what you did was act like a complete tool. First off your potential loss didn't justify pulling a "fire alarm". It was $5 a lottery ticket. I understand your principal, but there are more practical ways to go about it. This forum can be and has been used as a sounding board. Experienced members could have guided you as to how to proceed. You could have called out the dealer, PM'd him something. Even if the loss was greater you have to consider the arena we are playing in. My first transaction here I was shaking as I didn't know what to expect, but I was lucky it was through a dealer here and not some web page I almost ordered from. Think Sam think..that's all. For some of the members here paypal is a nice convience and not all dealers use it (I wonder why). I personally don't want to use WU, moneybookers etc. Let's try not to drive away all the dealers from using paypal. It isn't perfect, but as long as some donkey doesn't do something stupid and draw massive attention no one get's hurt. Just my two cents
  9. If it is anything like the Navitimer, which I have a feeling it is, by the looks of the bracelet. This might be tedious, as my Navitimer was the worst band I've resized. Just takes some time. There are screws, which are basically caps. After unscrewed there is a double prong that runs down the bracelet connecting the center two links. So for every two screws it's one link. When you pull from the top, you'll see, I also think the bottom link is a cap. Sorry for the haze, but I only did it once and I'm not wearing the watch to refer to. If you spend a little time and figure out how to get one off, it will make sense. Getting it back together takes a little patience as the center links are hard to hold and have it line up with the double pronged top part. Hope this will get you started.
  10. We'll I can't think of anything to add that already hasn't been said in some fashion. But I just wanted to thank Andrew personally for what he's done and continues to do. I've bought numerous watches from him, and his service makes you forget you're buying an "illegal" item, better service than any department store. I've ordered from others too, and the service has been just as good, but most have come from Andrew. I for one do appreciate what our dealers do for "ME". I also thank Andrew for being candid and somewhat letting us in on how the whole rep world works. Thanks Andrew
  11. Last guess for me..could it be a Tudor or vintage Tudor of somesort? The number font looks "tudorish" with the curve on the six and nine That's all I got
  12. It was my picture you used in the second photo, I don't mind either, but honestly until this post I didn't realize that the L Swiss L should be lower. Now I have you to thank for drawing my attention to it Seriously though, I don't really care, it's a nice watch, I've been weearing it soley for over a week and I realize these are reps and that's all, if I wanted perfection I'd go and spend major cash for the real deal. But I do understand your point.
  13. Going with this one currently...hasn't been worn since my Navitimer/111h fetish
  14. So far it's my 111h on a homemade distressed rep strap. This strap will have to do, until I purchase a "good" one.
  15. They're both nice, the 1950 is larger at 47mm too big for my wrist. The straps that come with these aren't too nice, they'll suffice but you'll want to source aftermarket ones. However, you distress them on your own to make them look better. I did post some pics of mine. Warning though Panerai's can become very addictive
  16. Ok so a lazy summer Sunday here in NJ, I decided to take some pictures of my new PAM 111h from Andrew, as always a great transaction. It came with a rubber diver's strap, which is nice, but I had a brown rep strap lying around. Actually bought these rep straps from Eddy on the board. Thanks Eddy! So I was kind of board this morning and decided to see if I could distress my strap, with some guidance from one of the other board members (Credit to Enzo for method used). I think it came out ok, might do a little more damage later on, but better than the cheap rep look Let me know what you guys think Back shot.... Full on band shot:
  17. I just got my 111h from Andrew "Trusty". I've dealt with him numerous times and he couldn't be better as far as service and anwering all your questions. I didn't spring for his most expensive version, but I did get the one for $158 and I'm soooo pleased with it, right now it's my favorite Panerai. It came with a rubbers diver's strap, but I had a brown rep strap lying around and spent the day distressing it. It looks so much better than before, I'll have to post some pictures when I have a chance.
  18. Personally, I could do without them. Nothing against the female form, but are plenty of websites for that. This is for watches and watch chat. I log on from work and would like not to feel like I have to police my viewing here. Simple as that. Put the nakedness is a sub-forum for all I care. This site should maintain the class it deserves.
  19. Here's the link V http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=7510
  20. Sorry V i should have posted the link it was recent post from today showing your 111h on an Aaron strap couch i believe. I liked the vintage/distressed look. Hope that helps as i've become lazy in my searching for your post.
  21. Thanks man real nice of you...now I can play with tubes!!
  22. I can see that happeing Bye the way V i really like that strap on your 111h, where might I find something similar?
