I don't know how many watch collectors dabble in the bit torrent area, but I've been looking for someone to be generous to give me an invite code? Maybe someone can help me out??? Thanks

Pam111h - Asian Vs Swiss Unitas Cosmetic Issue
Steve G replied to 310jag's topic in General Discussion
I have a 111h asian from trusty. I looked at the lettering, for the first time, now that i've read this post. Mine appears pretty straight. Now I didn't look through any magnification or loupe, but to the naked eye all appears straight. Lucky??? Are you guys saying that from normal viewing they are obviously crooked? I personally wouldn't fret too much it is on the backside of the watch, but i can understand it being annoying. -
Damn this sounds like it would be a good time. Too bad I'm 3000 miles away in NJ.

Thanks Randy I respect your input and advice. That's why I've sort of stayed away from the daytona's, the extra gears and all to achieve the seconds as at six. So far the two 7750's 28,000 bph are doing well, maybe they're more reliable with seconds at nine?? It's just that damn meteroite dial has me stoked!!
-
Sounds like you might have a problem. My 111h non-swan neck doesn't do that. If i release the crown lever, it doesn't pop out. I have to pull it out to change the time, just like every other watch.

I've read a lot of info on the Daytona's, the issues with the 7750 movement etc, and Ive pretty much stayed away from them. Then along comes that meteorite dial It kind of has me interested. I guess my questions are: How accurate is this watch currently. It's sort of hard to tell the dial detail from dealer pictures, hand color seems to vary also, they should be black? Also the 7750 movement is it the old or new. I have a 187 and Navi both with the newer movement, it's real nice and smooth no reset issues. Is that because of running seconds at 9 vs. 6? Damn so much info out there i've confused myself. So just asking for guidance please. Is the daytona a problem watch due to seconds at six regardlsess of the 7750 movement inside? All help is much appreciated as always. Thanks

I got my black dial with stick markers from Josh, five days from ordering. Same watch has pictured above.

No problems Mon I've looked for every reason to "try" and order from Paul, but everytime just end up back to my favorites. You might want to check the WU fees, from what I've heard it varies. Some people in the US may only pay $10, although it does vary on the dollar amount your sending.
-
Yes but try to finalize an order by "checking out", you're only given two options WU and moneybookers.

My brother actually ordered a 45mm PO from him. His order went well, there was some kind of delay on Paul's end, but he sent my brother a Mont Blanc pen as a consolation prize (nice jesture). Email communication was practically non-exsistant. So if you're used to Andrew or Josh, you'll be scared. The watch he got was just before the 45mm was re-done to have 22mm lugs and no-AR on the glass, but overall looked as well made as my 42mm 4th Gen from Andrew. I think he opened up the back to verify that it was ETA, but I don't remember. Anyway he was happy, but WU for us in NJ is pretty steep, making the savings only marginal. If Paul accepted Paypal, well that might be another story. But I just choose to stick with what works. I've gotten a few clunkers during this hobby and hey that happens from time to time. I just like knowing that I can communcate with someone and the problem should they arrive can be worked out. For example recently placed a 3 watch order with Josh (while waiting for my 187 to come back repaired) I only received the 187 and two watches. No biggie, emailed Josh, told him what happened, we chatted for a while and missing watch sent out yesterday. Done, satisfied and worth the few extra bucks. Not saying Paul wouldn't make good, but I do know he doesn't respond to emails and not sure how he is when there is no money attached to the email.

Exactly my point of being wary of the lower price. In life I've learned you get what you pay for. Now hopefully you'll be able to establish some communication with Paul/Chris/whoever to resolve the problem.
-
I'd say a pen is a safe bet

I agree I've been tempted by the prices, but after I calculate a hefty WU charge the difference between him and other dealers is sometimes only $40-$50. Now fifty bucks is fifty bucks, but I'm skeptical on what you'll actually receive. That 187 looks like it really has AR coating, which the Honpo had, I doubt you'll receive that watch, but more like what everyone else has. No argument that the price is nice, but not getting what is pictured bothers me. I've also heard of a similar occurence with a yacht-master. I'll pay a few bucks more for the pre-sale communication and after sale service that I get with my dealer(s). Just my opinion.

I'd guess around 1.5mm-2.0mm??

Unfortunatley I can't send them to work (too many eyes and BS in our mail system). I live less than 30 minutes from work, so usually a quick dash home around noon works. I too woory about a "mis-delivery" to a neightbors address, the pink slip I mean. With the pink slip anyone can retreive them. Ok I'm paranoid and this hobby has gotten the better of my good judgement.
-
God I hate the pink slip...such a tease
-
I just checked my tracking for the 100th time today, before I came over here to vote on how often I check the tracking. They will be here tomorrow...oh joy. Should I go to work or wait for the mail guy first? Can we poll that?
-
Congratulations Andrew. I wishing you the best from my family to yours. What a glorious experience the birth of a child.

I think I remember the post you're referring to. I had a similar problem with mine. If you take a small screw driver to the two small rods and gently pry apart a little you should find it closes more securely. Hope that helps.
-
I'm really not surprised. I almost jumped, but something just said "don't get too excited". Once Josh and Andrew confirmed this is the same watch they have. No need to rush and risk dealing with someone new. I too belive she is sincere, but just might lack the capacity of what some of the other dealers can do.
-
It looks like Ruby bit off more than she can chew. Or maybe she just doesn't quite have the connections that Josh or Andrew do? Sorry to hear that. I've never encountered those issues with Josh or Andrew. No delays, out of stocks, switcheroos etc. Just paid for my watch and got it within a week. I'll pay a few bucks extra for that anytime.
-
I get and have gotten satisfaction of delivery through Andrew and Joshua. I've purchased over 15 reps from both of them. Never had a customs issue, had some issues after the fact even months after the fact all resolved by both dealers. That's worth my dealing with them. Again, I have nothing against Ruby personally based upon your experience I'm sure she's 100% all she and you say. I just don't like the WU arrangement. It costs me too much where I live in NJ, especially if I order multiple watches at once.
-
Then it's WU online website that's trying to F Me, I'm in NJ apparently the rates are different depending on where your from. My brother has paid fee's of $30-$40 to wire money to Paul for a watch, hardly making his ridiculous prices worth it. That's the fact. If I was saving $60-$100 I'd be more agressive but the $20 savings hardly warrants me getting that excited over a watch that everyone has and I can buy at my convience. I do appreciate Ruby's effort and I don't doubt her service, it's just that it might be a good deal for those outside the US or have the option to use moneybookers.
-
I'm in the same boat with WU $34 to send $220. The net result is that the deal is just "ok". Moneybookers I've never been able to get a credit card accepted, possibly because I'm in the US? Paypal would be the best option. So for now I can't see the urgency as I can get the same watch from other dealers here that do accept paypal and the price is almost a wash.
