Besides...the calibre 3000 movement in the explorer was not much of a movement imho. It was a cheapo quickie...a downgraded 3035 made just so rolex could have a fast beat no date movement for the ex I, no date sub, OP etc until they came out with the 3130 a few years later. (the 3130 is made from the 3135)

I agree. As I really like this forum I already read one or two things about Submariner reps but one day I still could not tell whether the guy at the same table is wearing a gen or a rep. I looked at the rehaut, the bezel, the crown guards and the bracelet but it was 1 meter away from me so I did not have a close look therefore I just could not tell for sure. This is the same with other watches. For example if someone is worried that the cross on the VC Overseas is a bit too high - forget it, probably you will never ever meet someone who can tell the difference. It
