  1. I do not know why, but the twotone Santos is one of my favourite watches, although I do not really like Cartier or similar brands. It
  2. Is that a Slevin?
  3. Besides...the calibre 3000 movement in the explorer was not much of a movement imho. It was a cheapo quickie...a downgraded 3035 made just so rolex could have a fast beat no date movement for the ex I, no date sub, OP etc until they came out with the 3130 a few years later. (the 3130 is made from the 3135)
  4. In case of 1000US$ = around 30 Canadian Dollars difference... Well, paypal is a kind of online bank... and banks suck anyway. I had same experiences, banks operate shamelessly all around the world.
  5. Well, after all, Rolex just seems to be exclusive, as a matter of fact they sell 800.000+ watches p.a.! They surely have a premium position on the market but the product is for the price not that premium, is it? I mean, basically you buy a "Volkswagen" for the price of a "BMW". No question, most of the Rolex watches tend to be reliable but it
  6. Thanks for the info. I did not know which version it is but as a matter of fact it is also a pretty good watch for a rep. I suppose the MBW rep has clearly a better bracelet and I
  7. What do you think of the "oldschool" Patek rep? I would not call it a super rep as the bracelet looks nice but it could be better. However the dial is great IMO and the ETA movement works fine. Sorry for the bad pic. Actually I did not wear this watch as I always preferred my VC Overseas so it
  8. Really? That sounds a bit too low because of the relatively high labour costs there... anyhow rolex modells are highly overpriced and I never could understand why. Very good marketing indeed... I read that article regarding the new ceramic bezel watch. They figured out how to design a new clasp and a new bezel. Wonderful!
  9. Hmmm, maybe it costs 40 min of work to create such a bezel but 40 hours sound much better for marketing... I was always wondering how much the manufacturing costs of a Submariner could be. I
  10. 40 hours!? 40 hours for what? I
  11. This rep is more expensive... and looks better too IMO: http://www.trustytime88.com/index.php?main...products_id=942 I
  12. I agree. As I really like this forum I already read one or two things about Submariner reps but one day I still could not tell whether the guy at the same table is wearing a gen or a rep. I looked at the rehaut, the bezel, the crown guards and the bracelet but it was 1 meter away from me so I did not have a close look therefore I just could not tell for sure. This is the same with other watches. For example if someone is worried that the cross on the VC Overseas is a bit too high - forget it, probably you will never ever meet someone who can tell the difference. It
  13. Nice watch and nice picture! It
  14. Fantastic post, great infos! Thanks. I
  15. The Cousteau Diver is surely one of the best reps.
  16. I like this brand too. If there would be a Marine Chronometer rep (with white dial and roman numerals perhaps), I
  17. I agree. And there is one more thing: You may consider yourself as an exception as it requires a certain amount of knowledge to tell which watch is a rep. I
  18. As far as I know that Cal 11 was the result of the Tag, Breitling and Hamilton "joint venture" and Tag used the movement in the Autavia, Carrera and Monaco lines, Breitling created the Chronomat series. However the Zenith movement was presented before the Cal 11. ("the first automatic integrated chronograph movement, capable of measuring short time intervals to a tenth of a second" - it
