  1. Ha, I just ordered a PVD mini Fiddy case too (just the case)! I look forward to the stealth lume - post pics when you get going! I am not sure what dial I am going to use yet, but need to do this case in black for sure! Cheers!
  2. He doesn't sell the mini-Fiddy case, the closest would be to have Getat either send you a Luminor case with this setup OR you could see if he would do a custom dial for a 47mm Fiddy (I think he will do custom dials if you ask though I am not 100% sure). His straps are nice, but he doesn't have black, so if you really wanted the exact look, I would suggest just watching the strap sale sections, or just fork out for a new one. I was going cheap so I waited for a nice one to come up at a decent price.
  3. Just because he is roughly your height and weight doesn't mean he has the same size wrist. Three are people bigger than me with smaller wrists.
  4. This will be the mother of all group buys! $30,000 - WOW!
  5. But that was FM vs. Jos Nana! Fakey threatened to kill Josh (that was during his "I'm a hitman" phase), Josh called him a water buffalo pussy... man that thread was classic! .
  6. Lack of ambition - they don't sell all the brands.
  7. Its a replica replica site. No sh!t. There are quite a few out there - they are site rips - they just copy Josh's site and change a few things... Call it perfect clones and they trade on his rep and even use his pics. Ah, the irony of it!
  8. +1 He isn't a well person. I have watched too many people close to me self-destruct to suggest that somehow they deserved it - I know better. There is a big difference between a person who comes to a forum with the express and conscious purpose to harm or steal and the person who, because of an unwell mind, alienates even their own friends and, ultimately, ends up harming themselves even more than those around them. I lost a couple hundred bucks, but do I think Neil "ripped me off"? No, he just went down in flames and I would be happy if he just got better (in mind AND body) even if I never recovered a dime from him. At this point I wouldn't even try, it just feels petty. I am quite sure he needs it more than I do.
  9. The ones I have to go to when I am home: Legal Seafood Quincy Market - full of food stalls, great place to lunch. Addis Red Sea on Tremont (Ethiopian) Union Oyster House - big tourist attraction, but unlike most such places, this one is hasn't been ruined. Not cheap though. Le's, a Vietnamese restaurant in Harvard square, not incredible, just good Vietnamese, awesome prices, close to home for me... The Blue Fin - Porter Sq. Exchange, sushi, again, not incredible, but very good, and REALLY cheap - huge with Japanese students, I go there and PIG OUT on Sushi (where I am in Spain there is none, have to get a year's worth in a couple of weeks at home). That's it for now...
  10. He had a wound in one foot that he did not treat until it was very seriously infected. He had to return to the UK and the last I knew (about two months ago) it had not been decided if they could save the foot or not. It is unlikely he will return to the forums anyway, is what I have been told. I was one who was still waiting for a couple of watches from him but I have written them off. He left some bad blood in Thailand and it is unlikely he will be able to do business there again. He is a guy who has some problems, more than some, less than others, who, it is true, ended up flaking out on some people. But people love to hate (I know this all too well myself) and judge, and so he is ridiculed relentlessly and no one, that I can see, every gives him credit for the role he played in the early development of the forums and this hobby. How quickly people turn on their own.
  11. I tried to be the villain, to save the forum, look what happened. Not anymore, saving my villainy for the forums that appreciate it now.
  12. I think you are going to have to repaint the dials. I am interested in sterilizing dials too, haven't found a way to do it other than sanding/painting, so you lose indices, tick marks, everything. Okay for me, I am planning on doing stealth dials, but you may not want that....
  13. I recently purchased a strap in the sales section/straps subforum. I sent a pm to seller and posted "pm sent" in thread. For THREE days that post was the most recent post in that forum. It was DEAD. I came close to re-upping my Platinum membership after it expired, I need to sell some watches. But there is so little traffic it is not worth it. And I made donations to this forum, then a monthly membership, AND some pay-in "support the forum" raffles, I have given money, so for me the issue now is do I want to pay MORE just to be able to post a sales thread? And the answer is no, the traffic in the sales forum is definitely not worth what you have to pay to have access to it. As to why it is so dead, I don't know. I don't like some of the changes, I used to have "trader" stats, feedback that is, that's gone now. How can I even know who I am dealing with? But for the most part, it seems to be a lack of tolerance for banter. This is the A-list site and everything is top-shelf, no fooling around. I made a mistake once, paid the price, came back, promptly got smacked down again on a silly pretext. Even RG is friendlier than this place lately. And that wasn't always true. This isn't sour grapes, I am not the only one to have made this observation. So if you ask me, that might have something to do with it. Not that anyone is going to care what I think.
  14. Stick to the forum endorsed dealers. If you like a watch they don't have, email several of them with the picture, many can get watches they don't list on their sites. But in general, if no one here lists a watch, it usually isn't worth owning.
  15. $200???!!! Where are you buying your lume? $60 for hand puller? You can do it yourself, there are plenty of tutorials, practice first on old watches or even better, on coke cans, or other objects of no value. I paid $10 for a 1/4 ounce of powder from GlowInc. My hand puller cost me around $15 WITH shipping. I bought setters but you can also use an old ballpoint. But if it is going to cost you $200, have a professional do it.
  16. You can get the Radiomir homage, 45mm, with this dial and a NICE strap from Getatwatch for $89 plus shipping. It is also a REALLY nice watch. Same look, just a Radiomir case instead of mini-Fiddy. Here is the one I got a month or so ago:
  17. I have a PVD Parnis Uboat homage that I want to vintagize, haven't tried yet, I am still casting around for ideas...
  18. +1, both these guys are tops! The PVD movement is $40 Col! Like you said, very inexpensive. And yeah, Tat will be offering v10 Glowinc lume on his dials soon, the pics he sent me look AMAZING!
  19. VERY VERY COOL!!!!!! I love it! Are you going to do anything to the case? I think it would look even better if somehow the case were distressed to match the dial, the case looks too new/perfect now. Please explain again about the painting: You painted the dial and then sanded between coats, but are there only two colors on the dial itself? I see the yellow and black and a TOUCH of red there too, or is that the photo? And did you use two colors on the base plate too, or just one? Thanks, and again, FANTASTIC project!
  20. Post pics as your parts arrive - it is fun to see things develop!
