1. Thanks Polonus, that was what i was refering to "jumping in the setting position" Panadyne, BTW i saw a similar pic to your avatar the other day, wow the day dreams that brought up!
2. Exactly
And a 5atm watch is only good for surface swimming or as our old friend Eddie Lee a 50m dash in the rain
3. So if the difference between a swimmer and a strong swimmer can be 50% how does that pan out at different depths

How is the difference measured? is there a formular that can be applied to speedxdepth= apparent pressure and if so is this based on a solid sphere or an irregular object with joins and seals?
4. Seconds at 9
Hours at 6
Min at 3
5. As far as I know it is not really possible to mod the movement. I think the best would be to sell and buy a 7753
6. Valty I was of the understanding that DLC was very durable?
7. Well at least you know what to look for next time
8. Yep very visible but if you note that the date is central in the date window and if you moved the dial then the date would not be central, i am not sure if this uses a date wheel overlay but it may well be that if the dial was straightened then the date would be out, this may well be a case of bad printing but you will only know when it gets taken apart, this is why the TDs here send QC pick so that you can avoid these things, where was this bought?
9. Welcome to RWG proberbly the best watch forum on the net. No gen snobbishness here just a love of watches and lots of good info

Now show us what you have. BTW very cool father giving you a Rolex at 12! My daughter built here first watch at 10 a tobacco dial destro Pam
10. It is also a money thing in manufacturing, if you design lots of watches, day date, date no date, gmt around one movement then you simplify the manufacturing process and the stock holding by only needing one movement type. it happens alot, take for example the BMW X1, they all have the same engine, software ect but it is not set up the same in all models, so in principle they bult the same car just the power is swiched higher in some models. Apparently the VW group WILL start fitting and building all cars the same, GPS, traction control, power ect you just pay to have it made available to you, I am sure there will be a big market in Jailbraking cars soon
11. I dont know where to get it done but it shure as hell makes the dial stand out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
12. Thanks Does this have a jumping GMT hand that stays in sync with the Hour hand?? or is it just like the early 2836 GMTs where you had to judge for your self where it needed to be in relation?
13. The US members can advise on the best for servicing, i think Vac or there are a couple of others, they need to know what you want done and are there any issues with the watch that they need to be aware of like bad time keeping, slipping hands ect. on the dial post a good photo of it, it could be a number of things and some can be fixed some not, bad printing cant be but slightly bent dial feet (or missing dial feet can be)
14. I put this in another thread earler but i think alot of new members may need to understand why A modded watch is not a badge of honor, time served on the forums, nesesarely more valuable or anything else for that matter, oftern it is just a way the OCD characters here find to waste their money correcting a fault that no one else in the world knows is there, but they do and it is important to them. But just having a watch modded just for the sake of modding it is like putting pink wheels on a lamborgini, unless you really want Pink wheels, it does not make it any more desirable to other people and it does not make it worth any more. If you want a modded watch then:- You need to know what you want to mod, what is the fault or imperfection that bugs you? If it need Gen parts are they available any where in the world? Is the mod even possibleP Where are you in the world and is there a modder capable that you TRUST to do the work on a continent you can post to with out customs issues? If you just want your watch modding then i can do that but dont be supprise if it comes back with pink lume and 15mm crown with diamonds on it. (oh and you have to pay for the lume and the diamonds.
15. And what is different from the Gen, what would you like modding? This is not a trick question, but you need to know the work you want done, and know it is possible. it is like having too much money and taking a lamborgini to a tuning house and saying make it better Well would sir like pink wheels? Their idea of better may not be yours, one modder may say the lume should be better but another will say that the date wheel font is wrong but what do you think should be done. @ the OP this next comment is not dierected at you in person but at lots of new members who have heard the term modded and think they need to have a modded watch, A modded watch is not a badge of honor, time served on the forums, nesesarely more valueble or anything else for that matter, oftern it is just a way the OCD characters here find to waste their money correcting a fault that no one else in the world knows is there, but they do and it is important to them. But just having a watch modded just for the sake of modding it is like putting pink wheels on a lamborgini, unless you really want Pink wheels and it does not make it any more desirable to other people and it does not make it worth any more. Now servicing well that is a need to do, be it a Lambo or a watch!
16. Just so that every one knows what we are looking at this is the link http://www.ttw888.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=37_51&products_id=10605 and this is the watch Ok the canon pin is a 100th of a mil lowere than the hand set but thar could just be sloppy fitting or the hand tube is a tadge too long, wont realy bother me And this is a gen
17. Thanks mate flaws would be interesting glad to know the movement is good
18. Is that the scientific answer "2m" or just a guess As far as i know people swim differently, i am sure Micheal Phelps can put more pressure than me on a watch when swimming
19. I think you need to do a bit of reasearch "What Mods" is not very specific and depends on what watch, model, version and ultimatly on how much you want to spend, and also what is phisicaly possible
20. No not really every seal should be removed cleaned and greased reinstalled and then checked The only one that I would not remove unless a problem is suspected is the crystal seal as they are hard to get to fit reps some times but on a gen during a service that should also be replaced
21. Are the red and white cases different???

I always assumed they were the same. On the case in question to me the lug holes look a little high maybe an the crystal looks crap too much bevel
22. Although just for lawyers it does have an a bit of common sence as we are not talking about pure depth when talking about water resistance as that only deals with static pressure but when swimming we have to think about the dynamic pressures the watch will experience
For example if you slowly get in the pool and sink 10 m then you will experience 10m of pressure
But even as you swim on the surface and drag the watch through the water with every stroke you could exceed 10m of pressure depending on how you swim just think of the difference de between a gentle breast stroke and a fast front crawl
23. Has any one got any experience with the new Pam 89s?
Running a gmt modded A7750 I assume it is pretty new as I have not worked on the movement but I am quite interested in them. It may be like almost every other Pam that I have had that I wear a few times and sell it on but I want a gmt watch that does not use a 2836 an as there is not a good 1675 off the shelf this is looking good
I will post a photo and link later but if any one has any experience with this movement I would like to hear about it.
