  2. Oh bummer, what was the differebce between the 1 and 2??????????????????????, i assumed so i made and ass out of u and me!
  3. OK calm down every one, we are all learning, even when the most lerned of us still askes advice, what do we prove? that we can type with more force! This is a very complex subject with more misteries than a crime story on fox, Ziggy showed us for a bit of interest, he has no agenda as far as i know we have aske and he has shown as much as he feels he can, lets join our knoledge not bash heads against each other. @ POTR i was refering to the hands of the ziggy watch, i know what daufine and batton hands are. I posted a retorical question, unless the designer is here?
  4. I am smiling now, i am happy for you cats, stay as you are, big beaming happy smile.
  5. Thats interesting, why do we have extra lume dots on the chapter ring on the second pic, all the other dials i looked at the other day i dont remeber seeing any of them! But even more interesting to me and only the original designer of the milli could answer is why have luminous markers at all when the daufine hands are not on some 6541????? Is he around, the designer that is ?
  6. Well i have been doing it from the hand set position and it can be a pain in the ass to get it back in so from now on, gona try it the ziggy way, learn something new every day! One thing though i have a molnija and it was the first one i took apart and it was almost impossible to do it in any other position than hand set but from the hand set pos it was a piece of cake, horses for courses then.
  7. Welcome also from an auslander in the farterland.
  8. @ Wan great looking gorgious watch wear it with pride @ Peep show thanks for resurecting this, i like it when we get reminded of a great watch or some thing i missed years ago, thanks.
  9. Well i understand it it and he is not being very plesant, cross him off you christmas card list right now!!!!!!!!!
  10. Dont send it back, mod the keyless to a single postion and buy a vintage SD transplant it in and volare. Take the hibeat out of the vintage and put it in the modern one!
  11. Yes they can be and some are of for swimming direct from the source but who knows which ones, with a little experience and a couple of tools you could assure your self that it is fine for may be showering, light swimming, but it is a lottery, if you like to gamble then fine. I do! I have swam with all my reps except my porto chrono and speedmaster and only had one problem with an Ingy, but i am lucky!
  12. @ Jiannsmith why not make a poll out of this and see how people vote?
  13. I like that one but 5-7 k??? I think the security indicator is a bit of a gimick, does it tell you if the crystal is on properly of the case back is tight
  14. How big was the slevin thread, are we at 10% OF THAT YET?
  15. Some thing i just found and and waht was mentioned above. From a rolly forum Hi, I owned a 6541 Milgauss since 1966, it is the model with the lightning bolt second hand. Only a few hundred have been produced between 1958 and 1962, it was a shopdaughter at that time. At the same time the Submariner was introduced and that was an instant hit, mainly because of 007 in the first Bond movies. My 6541 reg# 412505 was produced in 1958 4th quarter. The movement is a 1030M (m for modification) it is higly antimagnetic, hence milgauss (Gauss was an Austrian scientist who worked on magnetism ) The movement is encased in a soft iron inner case and the parts of the movement that are usually iron based in normal watches, are non ferro. The dial is also made out of soft iron. The watch costed 200 dollar in 1965. It is the rarest post war tool watch that Rolex produced. The later version 1019 is made in far larger quantities , but are still very expensive when they come up for auctions. The 6541 will collect around + or - 75000 usd now (if you can find one !). I can send some pictures if you like regards So to verify the movement would be to test it for magnetic prperty, if it is no magnetic then it is an M
  16. Also the case from NDtrading has a plain bezel the ziggy example should be fitted with a rotating bezel, i think!
  17. I think i have found the source of the dial, Hmmmm price on request, interesting have a look description states refinished? and in vietnam!
  18. With out that too small ring we would have really been scratching our heads
  19. One large point that just jumped to my eye was the length of the min hand or to be more presice the relation to the min hand and chapter ring, that has always been a big no no to have a hand extending over its reference point! Also as mentioned the corronett mouth is totaly different and the "swiss" font is sooo much larger than i think is should be, that may be the curve of the crystal though. I would like to see this with the bezel fitted though!
  20. Thats what i was refering to, did not even look at the Rs, but what i belive with what i have read about vintage rolex and watches in general is that any thing is possible, ok call me an optimist, I doupt also that it is all original other wise it would be worth what $40k $50K??
  21. This is the closest i could find with a chapter ring that far in at BJs online
  22. never worked on a 7750 but if they are the same as a 2824 you just move them out of the way,
