  1. Sorry but i dont see this as a major problem at all and i no way detracts from the super staus of this watch, first we must not forget that this id a REP, secondly remember that there are also variations in the gen, in both the seconds hands, the date window and the dial printing. also this variation in the rep is a matter for 10th of a mm, 99.9999999 of even watch collectors would not notice this unlesss pointed out to them. it is proberbly just the fact we are a bunch of anal spotters here to notice this.
  2. We bought this one new just a couple of years ago, i also have a 69 seamaster that has had the lugs modded at some time to look like the Aqua Terra case. Although i love this watch it is just too small for me at 34mm these days, it was the first watch i fixed too. there is a topic somewere about it.
  3. I have the same one, im sure your freind will be very happy and know who his good freinds are!
  4. I am going to have to concede here as no i have stopped looking at fireman freds SFSO and actualy went up highenough to see the pics that stagfan posted His seconds hand does look a tiny bit longer, ie the marker square is further out, not a lot and you would have to be lucky to notice if but, it is. Sorry 55 i did not read fully what you wrote and had been comparing the wrong pics.
  5. The one on the seconds hand painted red with a lume dot.
  6. No i got mine from PT but as far as i am aware there is only one factory making the SFSO, is it different, if you have one from silix then stop the seconds at 12 and put some comparison pics up so that we can see. @ Stagfan, is the placement of the square on you SFSO different from all the other millions of pics on the board and the Gen?
  7. Well placing my rep next to the catalog with the seconds stopped at 12 i see absoloutly no difference, but also bear in mind that breitling have proved to be not the most consistant, in the 07 catalog there are versions with a fat and a thin date window and with curved and straight S in super. Also although the picture (looks like a computer image as opposed to a photo of the watch) you show looks like it is looking directly on the face it may not be, if you have both in your hand at the same time (and i have) the difference between the rep and gen is so negilible it is not realy worth talking about and if there is a diffenrce in the seconds hand at all it must be in the 10ths of a mm.
  8. Some one graded this as unfreindly but it is true!
  9. No it is not, i have a number of gen pics and compared the watches togehter in the flesh and the square is spot on, send a link to the photo you are talking about.
  10. Rolex ex 1 or an Air king, what about a railmaster or aqua terra, all 4 go nicely with a suit and inside a sleave, and are nice with out being to pretentious, i think the PO and SFSO are too big and bulky for every day in a suit.
  11. Most definatly and you will get lots of attention Toooo! From the men with the funny fitting jackets!
  12. hey Stagfan welcome to the club wearing mine right now, but that watch could spoil rep collecting for ever, the quality of it is just top. You might never feel a rep like it again, but i hope we all will.
  13. That must have been a horrible day, i have only been with out a watch on my wrist for maybe mins in the last 24 years, normaly during drugs teast as we have to prove we have nothing hidden that could affect the sample we have to give, i suppost i could fill a fiddy with just enough fluid to provide the sample though.
  14. Out come awaited on this one, looking at the machining i would also belive that it is made a while ago and as ziggy said gunk takes a while to build up so that would also indicate age. Is it possible that old stock with etas are being ripped down to supply movements, either reps or old stock gens! sandoz and the likes? But lets wait for what ziggy before we all start shouting for the dealers to price accordingly, when you think about what they are doing, continuing to supply ETA of what ever type when even the experts here cant tell with out major investigation how can we expect the dealers to with their volume of work.
  15. A standard rep strap treated the right way can also be a very nice strap, you dont have to spend the earth. PM me if you need any help
  16. That would be a worthy cause! Now lets hear and talk more about the movement, please how do we spot it and will it be any good, personaly i see the chinese as being very usefull at making high end watch parts, just ask J C Beaver from Hublot or what ever his name is!
  17. I like deployants full stop, if it comes undone then the watch is still on you wrist and not on the floor, i know this ns not always possible but i like deplouants
  18. Well the good nres is that a movement swap is not hard to do and also not expencive, but as you say if you are thinking of getting the swiss version any way. You might be able to recoup some of the cost by selling it as it is.
