Thanks for this interesting thread, one word (time related) i would love to know the orgin is "Moment", i mean we all say it dont we "just moment" but what a weird word MO MENT where the hell did that come from?
So to get back on topic
Well to me when i lift my arm to look at my watch, i can see it, either my cuff has made way or it was allredy there, At times i have to cover up totaly and then i have to peek to see the time but that i s part of the job. Personaly i thing inny but just a bit, a totaly naked lady is just a totaly naked lady, a half dressed lady is an erotic tease at the worst of times.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I once spent 6 hours trying to learn and fix the keyless worrks in a Dg2183 and subsiquently found out i could buy a new movement for $8 but i learnt and then learnt some more, i set the hands 20 odd times and reset a date wheel 10 times but i learnt. I have [censored]ed up so many things but every time i learnt. I have not bought a watch that is not still working but by god i have learnt a lot (at least i think i have) never give up! but be patient and learn form your mistakes.
I just go to my local leathwer shop and see what he has no idea about the weight, i fold it over and see how it bends, see if the colour changes as the grain bends, is it supple, how thick it would be doubled, i spent a long time in the offcuts bin looking that is where the leather came for the first 4 after that i found a few good nice pieces and bought small pieces at a time.
Buy a couple of cheep straps and take them apart see how they are made.
I like it well done have done a couple myself that way and have enjoyed the results, i would just refain frm drying it with the dryer as it will dry the leather too much. got one on my 177 right now nut as vintage as yours just very waxed, i use it for swimming.
I think it should incororate all the usual faults we find in our reps, bad rehaut, masive crown guards bad spelling ect, but reliable, and make sure that the bezel is misaligned
I have a cheep 177h from TTK and i love it, but the best one i have seen was one that Tourby had for sale a while ago, it just screamed quality. That being said DSNs are looking good to me as well.
I too prefer the older air king, particualy one i saw that had the numerals in a a similar fashion but with out that inner ring and the rolex text in a circle. But if you like then enjoy it and wear it with pride.
