  1. I would sugest a service to find out what whas wrong with it and get it sorted
  2. In pricipal yes that is the difference, i think all the 2s are chronometer certified, by panerai any way.
  3. Pics The running movement 6487-2 chronometer balance fitted All the old parts packaging of some of the new ones Running sweetly with rough regualtion and no oil yet
  4. With all the discussion about 6497-2s going on a while ago i decided to look at the options available A, buy a 6497-2 well if you can find one they go for a premium as we have found out at about €345 B, Use a seagull well yes i agree that they are great movements but some people just want swiss c, Convert a 6497-1 to a 6497-2 with all swiss parts Option C is what i chose to do, change every part from the spring barrel to the escarpment for 6497-2 parts 201 B Minutenrad ohne Minutenrohr 920002016499 210 B Kleinbodenrad 920002106496 180 B Federhaus mit Federkern 920001806498 224 B Sekundenrad mit langem Zapfen unten 920002246496 705 B Ankerrad 920007056498 710 B Anker 920007106496 721 B Unruh mit Flachspirale 920007216496 Total over €150 not Including tax Plus postage On top of that you need to add the cost of a 6497-1, oh and there (if you are going to change any of the wheels, including the escape wheel or spring barrel you need to change them all as the 6497-2 has finer teeth) But when assembling i accidently refitted the low beat balance to the movement with all the 6497-2 parts and it ran great but at 18000bph So what if you just fit the hibeat balence to a 6497-1?????? I dont know yet because i have not done it Photos to follow later to back this all up
  5. I have a 1675 bezel with retaining ring and compresion ring in my spares box if you need one
  6. Swiss ETA should mean that it has a swiss ETA movement inside not a chinese copy of an ETA, no your right the swiss dont sell to rep makers but they did used to sell to chinese factorys that make watches, alot of the swiss movements these days can prove to be quite old and removed from older unsold stock, My oppinion is to get the chinese copy of the ETA at least it will be new But a swiss one can be serviced and spares are available.
  7. being discussed here mate http://www.rwgforum.com/topic/133607-dont-want-to-build-a-collection/page__view__findpost__p__981528__fromsearch__1

  12. I would say that the jewel is fine, that looks like some thing it stopping the hands moving like the dial pushing againt the seconds hand
  13. The Gen Ingy 3227 is supposed to have protection to 300,000 A/m not sure how that translates to gauss but they say the newer glass backed ingys are 80,000 A/m which is about 1000gause
  14. For some reason i did not test my gen ingy though, i think i will have to get it out one day and test that.
  15. I wonder what the final price will be or what his reserve is $65k????
  16. I have tested a few rep anti mags with a strong magnet Tim, the only one i have found to work so far was on a 45 PO from silix, the test was stick magment on the back of the watch and see if it still runs, i think the subjects we the Silix 007 PO, Ingy, Milgause a couple of breitling 7750 and a vintage sub, all stopped bar the silix PO. but that may have been because it was a 007 rep version so made by the rep Q Branch
  17. I think i would be saying something "Get a job boy"
  18. I think Mary has a better one due to the He valve location
  19. Well it is one of the best but the more you read the more you will find is that quality control is the problem with reps and you have what could be considered a minor problem. resizing the bracelet on a UPO is as hard as it is on the gen I use both these tools on omega bracelets, the thicker one to get it moving and the thinner one to push the pin through (dont lose the sleve)
  20. The center rivit has broken, if it was quite new i sugest you speake to the person you bought it from and ask what they can do for you, in the mean time the UPO looks great on a number of different straps
  21. Great looking watch and most belivable!!!!!!!!!!!!
