  1. I recently acquired a DW6263 that was assembled by Spinmaster from another member. I replaced the stock crystal with a gen tropic 21 crystal. I then put a stainless bezel on as well.

You best bet is to get a DW based 6263. You can build one with a Valijoux 72 movement or a 7760 based movement. I have one from spinmaster that I love. Here it is: Spinmaster 6263 I got it from Marty and I put a stainless bezel and a gen crystal on it.
  3. Paul these watches take gen crystals as well. I put a gen crystal on mine and it really improves the look. You need to get one of the later model crystals with the beveled edge. The easiest thing would be to have Spinmaster put it on for you. The standard crystal is thinner than the gen. That means you will have to remove it and any glue that was used. Then you will probably have to sand the inside of the bezel so that it does not fit so tight. All said it is not too bad but it might be easier to let spin do it for you.
  4. This is your best bet: Spinmaster 6239
  5. Best Daytona rep is a DW 6263 or 6265. You can get it in 7750 (look at spinmaster ones) or Valijoux 72 movement. The 7750 is much cheaper but the spacing of the sub dials is slightly off. Honestly it is really hard to tell the difference. As for the modern Daytona the only real accurate version would be a franken. Many of the modern Daytonas have potential movement issues because of being converted so the sub dials are correct.
  6. It was plastic. The crystal is a gen tropic 21.
  7. I got my Spinmaster DW 6263 turned 6265 all together but I scratched the gen crystal in several places. Well.... really all over. I have no idea how it happened. Marty suggested polywatch so I ordered it. Man........ it worked! My crystal has no scratches at all! I am so happy with the results.
  8. Very nice job Freddy. I really enjoyed watching it. I like your composition in the pictures. I assume you use photoshop? I really like the picture with the the color 4x6 on a black and white background
  9. Well................ I am finally done with the bezel. The first time is the most tedious. I filed the bezel and it was too tight so then I filed it again and it still too tight. Then I filed it again and it went on almost all the way. The first three times not only was the bezel too tight but it was really hard to get back off! The last time with short round with the dremel the bezel slid on 1/2 of the way. Then a slight squeeze with the case press and it was on the rest of the way. Now the bezel is tight enough that it cannot be pulled off but it also can be wedged off without too much effort. I expect that is the way it is supposed to fit. The problem was it did not come that way at all. I guess that is to be expected when working with reps. I will say that changing the crystal should not be a problem in the future now. Thanks every one who posted and sent me a pm. I really appreciate your help.
  10. I need to change the topic to how to get scratches out of a new gen crystal. I have three slight scratches. Would polywatch clear them up? Also the shoulders have some slight scratches where I took the bezel off. What is the best way to put the brush finish back on the shoulders.
  11. Great tip Freddy, I like the 1/2 of the way down rule. This is a learing process for me.
  12. Ok the bezel is off and the new crystal is on. I am a nervous wreck but it looks good. After I got the crystal on the first time I saw two small pieces of lint. I then took it off and did it again. Now all I have to do is put the bezel back on. My question now is do all of the bezels require sanding on the inside and how do I know? I am going to put the steel bezel on but I do not want to crack the crystal. Should I be able to put this on by hand or should I use a case press? How much tension should there be? My bezel slides on and off of my other dw with the stock crystal if that is any clue as to its size. It would have to be glued on if I was using the stock crystal.
  13. What is the best way to remove absolutely all lint from the inside of before putting a crystal on a watch? I searched the forum but did not come up with a good tutorial or suggestion.
  14. What is the safest way to get the acrylic bezel off of my DW 6263. I do not want to harm it but it is on tight.
  15. This is my spinmaster 6263. I am going to install a gen crystal. I have the acrylic bezel and the steel bezel. Which one do you think looks the best?
  16. Do most of you use crystal cememt or just a friction fit?
  17. I am about to undertake this upgrade. I have just been hesitant.
  18. What is the proper procedure for putting a gen crystal on a DW 6263?
  19. How much of a difference does the gen crystal make over the stock crystal. I have a gen but almost hate to mess with it. It appears that the one I have with the stock crystal has some glue holding it on. I can see it under magnification.
  20. Alligoat I think the pushers are $50 each at some place like Ofrei our Cousins (UK) but those are after market not gen. Plus those have a different thread pitch so then you have to spend even more money if you want them put in and you cannot do it yourself. I have seen numerous 7835 bracelets for sale in the $250 range but those come with 357 end links. I have not ever seen a 7835 bracelet with 571 end links for sale. They are just so rare. Could you use a 7835 bracelet and put rep 571 end links on it? Do the 357 end links come off?
  21. The gen parts are really high. I have seen some on the bay. My estimate would be as follows: pushers - $500 each Crown and tube - $200 Bracelet - $250 (to a braclet with corrrect 571 ends? maybe $800) bezel - over $1000
