  1. Marty the bracelet looks real nice! BTW Iread that thread a while back and I emailed Josh. He is no longer willing to sell just the band. Let me know if someone finds something different.

nice find marty -- the bracelet looks great :victory:

jojo is right though -- the endlinks should be 571's. check out my thread here for a (relatively) cheap solution :victory:

  2. "The reason I have come to this conclusion is: however hard one can try to create the perfect rep, it will always be just that, a rep!"

I'll talk about my experiences. I'm not happier because I pocess a gen watch instead of the rep, I ran to the perfect gen to own, and I sell, and I buy, and sell, etc. . Rep or Gen, we are people here who search for the "perfect" watch to own, to get, to pocess, to love, to identify ourself to it. We like too much watches to be only with one watch or two, or three, it's a hobby, a passion, and we need to feel, touch, look all these watch arround us, sometime to MOD them. And the only vaccin against this, is to quit this hobby, and, find another one -_- Gen is not the answer. A watch is a watch, gen or rep. The soul that we think that gen watch pocess, this "soul", it live only in our mind, it is not in the watch itself. I pocess gen, and I'm not happier because it's a gen, I hit a level that now I don't give too much "importance" to gen "spirit". I wear watch because it's fun, it's a hobby, it look good, and I can share this hobby and passion with others. I quit timezone because I find people there give TOO MUCH importance to there watches, battle Omega vs Rolex, a battle that never end. Here, I never saw that, we like watches, period. We don't try to defend ourself, our life style through brand name. I pocess a Gen Fortis, and, nobody around me know this brand, I certainly not wear this watch to flash a brand name. If I like Rolex, it's not because of the name, but because I like the style of the watch. To resume, keep your rep, you already put too much time in it and energy.

    Well said Magagne

  3. Sell it to someone who could afford it (maybe me ;)) with option to buy back if he/she gets tired of it! If you don't really need the

dough, keet it! They're amazingly well done! Especially the Red!

JoJo do you have your sights on a gen 6263? If so Wow! I say keep the reps until you can afford to sell them and replace them with a gen.

  4. I can't wait! Why are not there anymore DW 6263 on our selling section?? I lost a lot of deals! especially V72 at great prices!!!!

    Damn!

Simple - the cost of entry is high.

Some people prefer more modern looking watches with sapphire crystals. The v72 versions can require a lot of work and headaches. The 7750 versions require service, replace the crystal, tube and crown. That is unless you get one from Spinmaster. All of this is a headache and it drives the price up as well.

  5. The DW rehaut issue has been discussed in numerous posts (you can search them out if you wish), but I will just say that I have had to mod the rehaut in 2 V72 DW cases to get the V72 to fit properly. There is a good deal of dimensional variability with DW cases (all of them), which leaves fitting a particular movement something of a hit-or-miss affair. This is why I always tell people to go for the pre-assembled 7750 version. The 7750s come with deeper casebacks to accommodate the 7750's taller profile. When fitting a V23/V72 (or removing the 7750's auto-wind module), you should fit the shallower caseback.

Agreed, My 7750 version has the shallower case back and the rotor removed. I am also having the auto wind mechanism removed for better winding and durability.

  6. The same case is used for both the 7750 & 72 movements, but you would probably need to reshape (with a Dremel or similar tool) the inside of the case to fit the other movement.

Freddy can chime in to correct me if needed but it was my understanding that the 7750 movement even with the rotor removed is thicker than the V72 movement. That means that some of the rehault is ground away to accommodate the the movement. A gen 6263 would have a deeper rehault. This is issue is another inconsistency with the gen unless you get case specifically made for the v72 (one that has not been modded for a movement) You best bet would be to keep the 7750 version until you are ready with all the parts for a v72 and then sell the 7750 version and get a new case.

  7. Exactly. I just pulled the trigger on a 7750DW hoping that I'll be able to source a V72 (and a gen dial!) some day...

You will probably not be able to use the DW 7750 case for the V72 because of the way it is machined on the inside. Although you can get a case that has not been machined from DW as well. I hope to have my DW 7750 up and running soon. I will continue to be on the look out for a deal on a V72 movement.

  8. The one Spin offers would be similar to the one that Freddy333 posted. The sub dial spacing is a little off. The case is good but I think the rehault might be a little shallower on the 7750 version. Not that it really matters very few people have seen a gen 6263. I think the 7750 dials are good but not quite as good as the V72 dials. Other weak areas would be the crown, pushers, crystal, and the band. All in all a good value for the money. The biggest flaw would be the sub dial spacing. Heck I had to look at a side by side picture that Freddy333 posted to see the difference. I had just seen so few 6263 watches.

Guys what do you think about Spinmaster DW 6263 with 7750 movement+gen crown/tube/tropic? Which flaws does it have??

    Thank you!

  9. Right you are T, I bought my first v72 with the idea in mind of building a Pre-Daytona. I've since decided to keep it as a collectible and have bought three others since then, two are for my collection and one as the donor for my project (still moving slowly). There is no doubt that the fact that Rolex used this movement in its watches has helped the popularity of the v72.

@ the playful eyes, one thing you might want to consider is going the route that gplracer has recently gone- he purchased a DW 6263 with the modified asian 7750 movement (rotor removed, manual wind, thinner caseback). This is a very viable option IMO, because you can buy this watch and have it serviced for the about the cost of a v72 alone. It has the assymetrical pushers and correct case. I saw a similar watch last week and was very impressed. Add a few gen parts- T-21 crystal, gen crown and tube, and you have a very good rep for a lot less than building a v72 rep. Here's the post:

    http://www.rwg.cc/members/DW-6263-dial-question-t97103.html

Mine is waiting for a full movement service. I also have a gen crystal to be installed and a gen crown and after market tube as well. At a later date I would like to add a gen band as well. DW was great to deal with but plan on a full service to clean everything and get it in top notch shape. The dials on the V72s are a little better and of course the spacing of the sub dials is better but the difference is very small. Keep in mind that this is a rare watch. Not many people have ever seen one. Unlike the sub which is very popular.

  10. Hey B, isn't that a 6265? I thought the 6263 was the black plastic bezel and the 6265 was the silver metal bezel. Not that it's a big deal.

FWIW, I prefer the silver dials. Somehow the PN's just don't do it for me.

The assymetrical pushers look good. Which movement do you have in there? It's a good looking watch.

It is a 7750 with the rotor removed.

  11. I posted a few days ago that I got my new DW 6263. I want to know how the dial looks. This post has a much closer view of the dial. I know it is dirty. I am sending the watch to have it serviced, Gen tropic 21 installed, gen crown and aftermarket tube installed as well. The only other option would be a PN dial from DW. Actually I have one on the way but it is taking a long time due to the mail. I am anxious and would like to know from the DW experts out there if the likely hood is that this dial would be better and more accurate than the PN dial that is on the way. If that is the case I can make plans to go ahead and send this one off now. I have included a pic of my watch and then a pick of the type of DW PN dial that is on the way below. Thanks for your time!!!

  12. I think its Gen. The Rolex is stamped into the back and, the dial feet are in the correct place. The O in Rolex and Oyster are the same font.

Maybe you are right. I just thought the "O" was too round and not oval enough as it is on some of the rep dials.

  13. Be aware that Clark's T-21 is the dome style, and does not have the beveled edge. This does not make it incorrect (the earliest Cosmograph crystals were domed). However, the newer beveled crystals are definitely more appealing (to me, at least).

I haven't found a source for aftermarket T-21's with the bevel...

Thanks Avitt, The more I look the more I feel like just getting a gen T-21

  14. The T21 is still being made by Rolex, so their dealer/service network pricing will be lower than the price we pay on ebay. Your watchmaker will have to tell you how much lower since I do not have a parts account.

The stock (aftermarket) crystal that comes with Daytona reps (including DWs) are junk. They are also made of lighter gage (thinner) plastic than the gens. I have never used Clark's T21, but all of the other crystals I have bought from them were constructed similar to the gen Tropics.

Thanks Freddy. Once again I really appreciate your time and expertise

  15. Noticeable is the key-word. Whether the sparkle, beveling & higher degree of transparency of a gen T21 is noticeable to you is the question. But, in general, the gen Tropics tend to give a watch a jewel-like quality that most aftermarket crystals (including Ofrei's) cannot match. There have been a number of picture comparison threads over the years (1 or 2 by me, but I think Nanuq's are the most revealing) that you might be able to locate via the Search.

The best aftermarkets I have found are from Clarks.

How easy is it to replace the crystal on a DW 6263? I just got a clark crystal in the mail. I am about to send this bad boy off for service and let that person do the crystal replacement too. I could get a gen later. Freddy or anyone else is the Clark the same thickness as the gen? I need to know because my bezel is loose. Do you guys recommend replacing the tube and crown as well?
