  1. Or use a 78690 - these are the ones with Fliplock function.
  2. They are asking such prices. But nobody in the right mind would pay such prices. Error dial... what a silly approach to old special dials such as rail dials - these at least have some piece of history.
  3. Well, I am looking forward to see the final result - the 6542 was always one of my favs - sadly it's a class too expensive. Keep up the good work!
  4. Is it just me or do the map background pics ring James Dowling memories? Great 6542 - nice to see what you did - are you going to mathc the dial and hands patina? Aren't there any better inserts avaialbe to date? (Not gen of course, I know what these go for - ouch).
  5. Four it is for me. Three and Four both have the 5.3mm crown and they both look good - I#d base the opinion on the pirce between the two. No B&P is okay if you wear it - it's not okay if you are looking at it as an investment.
  6. Wrong nickname, wrong forum - that's what it's about here.
  7. Vault queen nails it - sadly. If such a full meal deal was in my possession I would hate to see it at my bank's. Putting such a thign up for display would be just amazing. The piece in the auction is at 14000$ I think - meaning it's around 10000
  8. You are totally right - "all original" should definitely mean that is is in a state of 100% delivery type parts. This one definitely isn't - but it probably is an original watch - with no fake stuff fitted... even though - a crystal is a two sided thing - I guess there is no such thing that is replaced as often as a crystal - this happens during each and every service. A Tritium insert - I understand - it is mucho $$$ - but a crystal? You can still get these 127's for a good price - and the 39 Superdomes came down too (or are stable). The best ones with "all originals" are those rare bees that come with original sales bill and all the returned spare parts from the service - you see these from time to time, but they are rare - and they have one more thing in common - a huge price tag.
  9. Good one Ubi - the headlight probably emits a very low wavelength/high freq. beam - blue light I guess? The bluer the better. IR doesn't charge the lume at all...
  10. Here's a good one - trying to calculate which sort of lamp with a certain amount of power gets to activate Luminova best. Not just guessing, but calculating - and then trying it out live. My better half told me to stop acting crazy like that...
  11. Well, your statement just sounded a bit like it was a fake crystal. Understood it now... anyway - interesting you point out that the large bevel is an earlier production. European quotes are always like one should go for the small bevel - as it is the old style. I must admit though, that I have seen a small beveled 127 in a new Rolex packaging (PET bag with green writing). Edit: If we are discussing all-originial state here - it doesn't make sense as there is something not 100% about this watch - even though it is highly overpriced. The dial is nice though - and worse a couple of Thousands alone...
  12. Ubi - that is definitely a genuine Tropic 127. A nice example at that. It's not the current RSC version but the older, short bevelled version.
  13. Oh I'd eat a broom with stick if that's a fake... certainly a gen case - and the caseback "engraving" is correctly stamped as it should be. A bracelet with one 78360 half is nothing special - I have seen first owner watches with 9315 clasp and 7836 links. I see you talk about the lug engraving. Indeed, it looks odd - but the font of the lug writing and numbers is correct for a 3Mil case...
  14. The dial on eBay is not worth the effort. It's a redial and the 24hr indices are as with all Viet redials - not far out in the perimeter. As you can see - bertieng's dial (as it is genuine) looks completely correct, with the indices almost touching the rehaut.
  15. As Ubi said - 7K is steep for a no-paper 16750. 8.7K for a watch with papers - well, maybe you can show pics so we could check out how case and dial look. Generally i say - try looking further - in the past two months I had the chance to get a pretty nice 16750 with b&p for 6.5K$ and a pristine one without b&p for 5.3K$
  16. Freddy - his dial looks much more like a Mark I 1655 dial. For your reference:
  17. Well, I'd say that Rolex movements are better than ETA movements. But the ETA movement in Tudor watches are not plain ETA's - they were highly modified by Rolex - new shock assembly, high grade finish and very tight tolerance pivots etc... making the movement almost as good as a Rolex 1570. Still - I would doubt that a Tudor 2484 would runs as long as a 1570 would - unserviced. There ar reports of 1570 equipped watches running as long as 26 years years of daily wear without service. I like the Ferrari Maserati comparison - much better than the Hyundai. both excellent puppies.
  18. Not a very wise comment - 7016 and 7021 are the collectible Tudors - and appreciated by many collectors these days. I don't see why it is a worse watch than the 16750 - also movement wise - the 16750 has a very common caliber immanent problem with the cannon pinion. 3075 is not the most praised Rolex movement... Many people prefer the Tudor because of it looking like a vintage Sub but without the Rolex name. If it's your first genuine Rolex/Tudor - go for the Tudor - nobody will ask if it's fake. And everybody in the know will honor your great taste. If yo udo your homework you will find a nice piece - pref with B&P and as Ubi said with MN numbering - some call it the poor man's Comex. It was delivered to the French Marine Nationale... Be aware though, many fake and Franekn Tudors around - but after reading a bit you will ID a gen from a fake 100%.
  19. Well, I consider it crap - sorry. Being out of time that much - it much suffer from extreme problems. Probably only a magnetized hairspring though. If you can get movement pics that would be fantastic - also, if yo ucould get a pic of the caseback stampings inside - that would be a good thing. If you can show us teh lugs - another plus.
  20. For 1K - don't even think - get it quick - or let me have the sellers info and I will get it. Don't worry about bracelet or endlinks - no indication at all. The lug engravings are worn, that's normal - as you can read them - no problem. You can consider the movement trash - the service would be expensive. Still, the service wouldn't cost you more than 1000. Go for it. If you don't want to buy, let me know the details please Edit - Shadow - would you believe a watch this old has still its first bracelet on? Changing a bracelet after 20 years of normal wear is more than normal. Please elaborate why the endlinks are fake in my opinion they are convincing - even from the bad pics.
  21. Why not consider my 7928? It's probably a 100 times better... Gen old Triplock, gen vintage bezel insert with Tritium pearl, gen hands, serviced Tudor movement, genuine 78360 bracelet, Viet casing with correct engravings and stampings in the back.
  22. You might want to get a bridge plate cut and refinished to cover the Angelus alarm part - that takes that whole excellent project a bit down - apart from that - very nice!
  23. The thing is that enthusiasts on VRF are looking for old parts - hence the NOS term. The new service replacements are indeed still in production. Old style endlinks and other parts are, if in good condition worth a lot - believe it or not. Even though, I have experienced that the market went down a little - seems like it's time to get the parts now. If you don't care for old style stuff - go see your AD and you might be lucky. Sadly, in most European contries they take your old bracelet in for replacement...
  24. Wow, this has to be one of the worst rep-fonts. They didn't copy it, they invented their own font. The case, hard to tell, but the lugs look very massive - a bit too massive.
  25. This is one bad replica dial...
