  1. Fantastic post. That might explain the grayish junk the watches sometimes leave on my wrists during hot weather. My lower quality gens don't do that. It ain't dirt!
  2. Here's quick cell pic of my old Radiomir from EL (circa 2004-2005). Still going strong with original band.
  3. Lani, thanks for the scoop! That helps a lot. I remember most everyone you mentioned. Ah, TTK - so entertaining. Well, I'm sure today's RWG community is just as vibrant. I look forward to digging into some posts . . . -hottoddy
  4. Oh, my! Hello, again. It's been years. I was kicking around here 5 years ago. Anyone remember Dave Gates? Anyone remember Efrem? A quick overview of the site reveals many friendly names are still here (Nanuq, The Zigmeister, and many others). I took some time off to have two beautiful daughters (4 and 1). As I had no disposable income for a while, I didn't want to torture myself by visiting every day. Now I have that urge to get back into the hobby and am definitely "out of the loop." Are Paul, Sean, EL and King still around (sheesh, I've got no idea)? I popped in a few times over the years but felt overwhelmed with new information. Feel free to PM me if anyone has some good information. I've been away a long time! Thanks and I look forward to catching up. -hottoddy
  5. Probably just one of those wirey fu-manchu chin whiskers!
  6. How many believe this movement is accurately represented? Let the profit margins rise!
  7. Gays often adopt certain fashion styles to identify themselves to others - like a calling card. If gays are adopting Panerai, don't be surprised if you guys start gettting hit on by sexy mens!
  8. Well, at least it worked some in college.
  9. Many of the SM300s are Frankenwatches rather than outright fakes. Cobbled together with all sorts of different gen and dubious parts from the cheap bin. Usually they throw in an inaccurate, but gen movement, to fool the masses. Depends on the popularity - of which the 300 may be the most sought after.
  10. Along with the loss of many great individual dealers, this is truly disheartening news which contributes to my growing alienation with reps. I personally made the decision to stear clear of many of the aforementioned dealers with the advent of the "perfect" replica or "1:1" snake oil. There is no better way to lose me as a potential customer than with the used car sales approach. With the apparent outright fabrications, I will be more cautious than ever. I'd rather drop my money on a PMWF genuine.
  11. Problems related to error or neglect? Come on! How many of us WISers really abuse these 7750 abominations? A chrono is designed for a particular purpose. Push a button to start, push a button stop, and push a button to reset. The above arguments stating, "It should be fine if you don't use the chrono" are also absurd. That's like buying a car and not taking it on the freeway. I don't care if you're timing a egg boiling and seeing how long your farts last - what's wrong with that? Use the chrono for its intended purpose. If you simply want the "look" of a chrono - just buy one of the cheap non-functioning versions. That being said, I have owned two 7750s (recent Navitimers). Both had issues within a week. A local watchsmith tinkered with them and they've been fine ever since. I'm extremely hesitant to purchase another.
  12. Yes. I've been fairly cool lately. Maybe it's a natural progression for me, but I can't seem to get as inspired as a few years ago.
  13. Not really humor, but I thought this forum was appropriate. I can't believe they can do this but it really works. Find someone within just a few feet at any given time! They have a huge database. Extremely nifty tool, but also an invasion of privacy. Give it a try here. Edit: Not Work Safe!!!
  14. I thought vaseline was bad as it eats away at rubber based products.
  15. Yeah, and since SO MANY of these watches are actively dived at depths greater than 200ft, it makes tremendous sense. That's what dive computers are fore. It's just a bragging feature - "You can't have a REAL dive watch without an HE valve."
  16. Let's just say that Britney needs to shave . . .
  17. Britney Spears Sex Tape Leaked You knew this would eventually get out . . .
  18. Just a guess, but it may be due to the fact that the 45mm is much less accurate than the 42mm.
  19. I found him! I found him! Seriously, I kinda feel sorry for this news anchor (Marc Brown - Channel 7, ABC, Los Angeles). I can imagine him reading that story and thinking, "Holy crap! That kinda looks like me." I bet the station got lots of calls that day.
  20. The 42mm is sweetness . . . I just wish the Omega symbol wasn't smashed on top of the dial text.
  21. Similar to the cheapie they used in Kill Bill. I think the prop guys prefer using knock-offs.
  22. That is sweet! I have a couple Rollys (Sub/Yacht) that I don't really wear anymore and would like to hotrod. I'm thinking about Yao style generic dials.
