  1. Yep, it is true. I've done it a few times before I found out, but luckily I didn't damage anything.

Glad to have found that info before having to set a watch :)

By the way what reliable movements would you recommend for a newbie like me with no experience in watches to avoid my purchases to be out of order after few years…

  2. I was going through this thread looking for infos about the different movements. And I was suprised to read that the ETA 7750, "Valjoux" movements must NOT be set the date between 8 PM and 2 AM, or you will damage the movement.

Is it true ? To be clear about (and to be sure) this ? So you need to first set the time to 5.00 am (for example) then set your date then set your real hour (11.25PM for example) to avoid troubles with the movement ?

  3. I wonder why the factories didn't produced a nice rep of this super classic yet. The factory which would release such a watch with accurate dial, accurate domed glass and working chrono would have a instant best seller as I read the tons of people expecting for this grail to arrive…

Any one out there listening to me ? :whistling:

  4. No mine is the saphire version so it is not as domed as that one, rep or gen, the problem is you cant get the plexi rep any more.

argh… too bad ! I guess plexi must be hell to keep away from scratches… Anyway thanks for your answers I had what I wanted to know. It is not a flat glass but has a little bit of dome flavor ;)

  5. Hello,

I wonder what would you suggest as a nice working chronograph. I saw the Oris Carlos Coste Limited Edition from oris which looks really nice but it also looks very thick ! Can you even put your arm in the air whith that kind of watch on your wrist? :D

So I would definetely like to have some buying suggestions from other members.

    thanks

  6. So I will stay with my first impression that 200/300$ fr a rep is good enough.

Something that I was wondering, also. There are lots of 200/300$ watches on the market ?

Are ther mecahnical system the same than the one in the rep or better ?

Frankt, you have a wonderful watches box :D

  7. I wear a watch for the time, and how it looks to me.

Totally agree. I a not a specialist enough to care about tiny subtle differences (even if I see them, but I guess for now I don't care !). But As I say the lume from what I have seen is rarely well made on rep. So I guess I might be disappointed with a low budget rep if I am looking for a good lume on my rep ! (especially with the Panerai).

  8. Unfortunately you have to pay to play and the best way to get the "nice lume" you're looking for is to have one of the modders do it. Most reps come with weak to no lume and maybe you can get a freak rep with great lume, but that would be total crap shoot. My suggestion would be to pick up an entry-mid level PAM and then get it relumed, which would probably come in a little less expensive than DSN's all in one box solution. Or you could fish patiently over at the for sale forum. Good luck with your search.

That is what I thought. And as I am not leaving in the US or asia the costs of the mails+mod might overpriced the out of the box ones from DNS
