  1. Although I'm more of a lurker than a poster, I've really enjoyed your input and appreciate the work you've done. It's a shame you've had to deal with the problems you've explained, so I, like most others can fully understand your decision to step away. All the best, and I hope to see you back on here at some point in the future.
  2. For a first I'd say the 001 or the 111 like you mentioned. They're classic and what Panerai is all about IMO
  3. Actually I do believe he is more of a fan of Panerai than Brad Pitt is of Guess Sunglasses. Brad Pitt is known to be a bit of an advertising junkie - Tag Heuer, Rolex, Honda, Toyota, Sanyo to name just a few. I'm sure Stallone doesn't only do it out of the goodness of his heart, but he has been a little more discreet and he seems to have almost exclusively worn PAMs for the last decade. Perhaps without the attention of these "white-trash" action stars, there wouldn't be nearly the amount or quality of PAM reps available, so, "every cloud..............." Despite this, I don't think he needs another signature PAM, I'm sure he could find something suitable already produced.
  4. Looks like he's still a big fan. If I'm not mistaken, he looks like he's wearing another PAM in this shot from his new Rambo film.
  5. It looks like it might be one of these www.finestwatches.com/breguet-11850.html If not, it's something pretty similar
  6. Have a look at this thread, it might give you some answers regarding the fit of the gen tube. http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=23904&hl
  7. www.magrette.com seems to be a few different companies copying them these days
  8. you won't find any argument from me, I agree entirely.
  9. Well, good point, but it still sounds like it's an improvement on the older one, which I think is a move in the right direction. I'm certainly not suggesting that there's no point in getting it serviced.
  10. I think it's the same watch Pierce Brosnan wore in 'After The Sunset' too. It's the first time I liked the look of a PAM bracelet.
  11. I agree, you can always get a new movement if this one fails, so the watch won't be rendered useless. Let's hope the new Asian 7750 that everyone's talking about will become the standard in the near future, this would take alot of the worry out of buying a chrono for most people I think.
  12. Looks Great As far as the PAM chronographs go, IMO the 212 looks best with a vintage style strap, whereas the 196 is the one that looks better with a contemporary strap. So, in conclusion, nice choice
  13. If you just said "yes I am", I bet that would shut them up
  14. So does Paul not accept Paypal at all now?
  15. Oh bummer, would have worked out perfect. Jimmy is a guy who has aftermarket crown guards, dials etc and sells them on ebay http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZjimmyzfu Cheers
  16. My 001 arrived today, and I love it. Only thing is, it arrived with a brushed CG. So I'm verry happy with it, but not content with it (if that makes any sense!) Any suggestions on what I should do? The reason I bought the 001 was due to it being one of the most accurate reps, so I want to get this fixed (along with relume and pin fix). Can a brushed guard be polished up? or should I just buy one of jimmy's guards since they seem more accurate and I have to do something about it anyway? Thanks
  17. You've got to be kidding! Please let this be someone who's not on the board
  18. Co-Sign Well said, not that it should need to be said. A little common sense never goes astray
  19. No doubt, everything on the front takes priority for me. But I see the point in having an authentic serial number, if someone looks who knows anything about reps, a mass produced serial number would be as much of a giveaway as having an incorrect movement. And slay, you're right I've seen a few reps that have been spotted on the paneristi forum by some of the more common serial numbers, mind you, the times I saw them being spotted was when someone was trying to pass the watch off as a gen on ebay or the like.
  20. Thanks for your input guys, Looks like like I'll be giving this a go, time to go strap shopping!
  21. I read somewhere that this can work, has anybody tried this, or will it look stupid squeezed in there? It's just that there are some nice style 26mm straps that aren't available in 24mm. If it doesn't work it might just be the perfect excuse to buy a fiddy!
  22. Thanks for the tip robideaux, BTW, If you are looking for this with the Asian movement, you might want to try Joshua. I only saw it in the swiss version, but Joshua let me know that you can order it installed with either swiss OR asian, and of course you'll find the asian movement to be cheaper. Cheers
  23. Yes, from all I've read it'll be all over for me once I get my first one, they seem to be the black hole of watches, anyone who gets close enough gets sucked in, or maybe they're just adding niccotine to them! Oh well, at least I won't be alone
  24. Finepics - Thanks for clarifying that, it's nice to know this has no real problems and the upgrades can all just be done as they become available. ridnwind - and thanks for bringing this to my attention too, I'd never really looked at the 2B, and it seems pretty close without mods too maybe time to bite the bullet!
  25. Hi, After much searching, it seems the 001 is arguably the most accurate PAM due to having the movement hidden by an accurately engraved (not etched?) solid back. Now to complete it's transformation, it will need a lello crown, reluming, the recessed pin fixed and a new strap. Anyone know if I'm missing anything? Is the crown guard ok, or ideally would it need a jimmyzfu replacement? Oh, and is there only 1 version of the 001? (not counting the difference between the swiss and asian movement) I'm thinking that this would make it as close to a gen PAM as can be at the moment, please jump in with any additions or corrections. Thanks
