"And you get along well with women." "I guess that leaves me in the clear..." - Jerry, Elaine and George, on why some people might thing Jerry is gay, in "The Outing" "Look, you wanna have sex right now? Do want to have sex with me right now? Let's go! C'mon, let's go baby! C'mon!" - George, trying to convince a reporter that he's not gay, in "The Outing"

  6. Hole in a bucket is a "water clock" @FxrAndy Burning a candle would work...but a string sounds improbable Stone hange and the like certainly a timemeasuring instruments as well. Maybe measurements using the heavily bodies and stones laid out in patterns predated the sundial? I guess that measuring time was more important in the more nothern and southern latitudes than it was close to the equator? Who knows?

  13. Follow this link before reading this post: http://www.zenith-watches.com/scripts/getp..._0&langid=0 From TIMEZONE: Zenith And The "Pink Dollar". May 11, 2007 - 11:06 AM Is it just me, or does the latest incarnation of the Zenith website seem to be pandering exclusively after the "pink dollar"? Here we are confronted by a number of perfectly coiffured gentlemen who to appear to "prefer musicals", strutting around posturing with horizon gazing Clint Eastwood squints, hunched menacingly over speeding motor bikes in tight fitting leather, working out stripped to the waist in kung-fu attire and generally behaving like men "who can't catch". Although this kind of marketing ploy is all very well with brands in the perfume business etc, is it really appropriate for the upper tiers of the watch making industry, or does it put more people off the brand than it actually attracts? I'm sure the old-school Zenith purists are split over the recent marketing tangent and new outlandish models that a certain Mr. Nataf has introduced at the cutting edge of the brand. Don't get me wrong, I'm not anti-gay, it just seems an almost hilarious marketing ploy to me. Personally, I'd rather just see their fine watches displayed as is, without all the glitz and glitter. HT. Are they going too "pink" over at ZENITH? Maybe not? as the women like this "pink" pieces too

  16. This is a winderful piecec of information b16a2 Thank you!!!! I have been wondering about the origin of the term watch and you may have found it "Officer of the Watch, hence the name watch." but do we know for sure that this is the origin? In fact. I was wondring if it had something to do with Vacheron Constantin being the world's oldest watchmaker (uninterupted manufacturing since 1755). Jean-Marc Vacheron established his own company in 1755. I was even wodering if it had something to do with looking (watching) the timepiece...especially these http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...mp;#entry272885

  20. Water Clock Lots of intrest in water resistant watches lately but using water to tell time is a totally different strategy.... Just read this "Water clocks, along with the sundials, are possibly the oldest time-measuring instruments, with the only exceptions being the gnomon and day-counting tally stick" "Through the centuries, water clocks were used for timing lawyer's speeches during a trial, labors of prostitutes, night watches of guards, sermons and Masses in church, to name only a few" Never seen a "water clock" in use I am now wondering what the oldest time measuring insterument might have been I would like to get some input on what the earliest time-measuring instrument might have been and how old that device might be, do you have any input on this? g.

Optional here to really tell him that you know your watches well and have a sense of humor is to add also "Sheeesssss horologists" at the very end of the post All the best of luck to you WISS Your obediently Granulator
