  1. Thanks TT, i still have the crown the inner spring and the stem are on the movement itself so i can still pull out the stem with my finger nails to set the time, push it back and screw the crown on top of it but winding the movement or changing the date is not possible anymore. can I re-attach the crown onto the stem with epoxy but without taking it apart ?
  2. recently I have learned that trying to drive a car, pacify a child in the infant seat and use a thumb to wind a watch all @ the same time was not a good idea. Even if you keep the car in its lane and the baby quiet, chances are you will hit a bump and find the crown detaching itself from the stem. my local watch-smith suggested that if i find a replacement crown he can put it back together am not sure if that's the only option or even how to exercise it ? Please opine and help me out Thanks !
  3. happy to see that she still lusts for the Renault blue
  4. hehe yea that's whatcha call a hole-in-one
  5. a tax refugee ? Obama wouldn't approve of that, haha most racers usually cite reasons of privacy when they do ... except for Rossi who moved to the UK
  6. i guess his move to Switzerland was based on his blind English patriotism
  7. rep A/R is exactly what it says ... REP A/R aftermarket by Chieftang is damn near invisible however it takes some effort to get it so the choice is yours if you plan to keep the watch, do it right if not, get whatever ya can afford and ride it out for what its worth
  8. Top Gear is the only reason i ever flip the box onto BBCA
  9. i sympathize with all the poor Brits who must be subject to an endless deluge of Hamilton-mania through the media for the rest of the 2008 even if i lust for their HD signals (totally incapable of meshing with the US, hmph !) funny how no one mentions his true roots (Grenada, i think) ever since he hit the big time
  10. if i didn't know better, i'd be asking if your stay was 'comped'
  11. gotta luvvv the 007 @ the end of the seconds hand ... brilliant move IMO
  12. i don't know what part of Cali had any sun today but hey welcome anyway !
  13. the same laws apply in the US you can use another CC to verify your Paypal account instead of a direct deposit with your bank
  14. as an Obama voter i claim this as blatantly racist !!! j/k
  15. bitter ? not as much as McLaren last year when Kimi stole the crown from under both their lead drivers consistency ? yea the ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory is certainly a very consistent trait ... beaching the car, running into the back of parked cars, overcooking T1 and what not. He's got talent & seems likable in person (from a Top Gear interview) but he's over-rated. Heck i'd much rather root for Mr Jenson Button who is still hanging in there despite a totally undriveable Honda this year i hear he's been promised a McLaren road car by Dennis if he pulls a hat-trick so lets hope he can get one by leading like a true champion for the next 2 years
  16. DO IT ! i've got the black XXL w/Chief's AR on a bracelet ... absolutely LUVVV it
  17. congrats to Ham-bone for being gifted the championship so what if Massa won more times than him ? so what if Scuderia makes more money from their Constructors' title ? so what if Glock will never be welcome in Brazil again ? and lastly, so what if all these Johnnycomelatelies will be b!tchslapped next year by the one & only eyebrow man Fernando ALONSO ?! let us also sit back & toast 2 vets & gentlemen, David Coulthard and Rubens Barrichello as they bid us farewell from the F1 circuit
  18. bank accounts are not a necessity with Paypal you can also use any major credit card (master/visa/amex/discover) to pay instead
  19. LoL, i'm on the mobile scheme so i'll keep it short hbd p
  20. i'm not sure if the price wars have ended on the TV front ... in fact as the holiday season approaches, they have started @ Costco as of this morning ya can either buy a 46" Sharp LCD for $1249 or two for $1999 (shipping included !)
  21. there is always a little truth in every joke
  22. y'know there's a few boxes i like @ watchmaterial.com ... anyone try their stuff out ?
  23. on a sub 40" screen, you probably won't but then in your particular case, Puggy you could sit back & nit-pick dust mites out of a brand-new carpet p.s. my friend picked up a 32" Sharp LCD 1080i/720p for $499 + tax @ the local Costco last night (including 2 yr extended warranty) with dual HDMI, compoonent inputs, also composite, co-ax, etc they had a similar Vizio for the same price and a Westinghouse for under $400 too
  24. Thanks for sharing i found the last bit about "Using the GMT display as a rough solar compass" very interesting Now i have one more way to utilize my Choppy GMT chrono (or a reason to get another, albeit a non-chrono version) one question though how does a GMT watch account for time zones that may be apart by an hour(or a few) and a half instead of an odd/even number of hours ? for instance its 5 am for a Fairbanks resident but 4:30 pm in Estahan, Iran ... how would a resident in either part set their GMT hands to reflect each other ?
  25. did i say 1080p when referring to the difference in resolution ? i must have meant 1080i which is what is broadcast by some TV stations for a HD signal, others use 720p 1080i may have a higher resolution than 720p but 720p is a smoother image overall furthermore US cable/sat providers are known to cheat us consumers when it comes to HD service, wonder how it is in the UK ? true HD service is classified as a 24 mbps signal but they get away with as little as 7 out there google up 'HD Lite' and you'll know what i'm talking about
