  1. Thx. So hard to decide on what to do with the CG. It's definitely a nice decision to research though. :)

I am with you Slai. I bought the CG without having anything to fit it to.

I am really interested to know if this will work with DSN's 111H. Anyone have an update on whether this fits a DSN case?

  2. Wow, that is indeed interesting. Thaks for the info. Still, it looks like the GMT hand is below the hour hand though thus disqualifying as a 3185 substitute.

Ahh -- got you. I have not looked that closely. I was more commenting on the way that the movement works - which is the same.

I will have to check out the order of the Omega GMT hands. Thanks!

I wonder if that means that the ICHS hands would work on it?

  3. What Omega calibre are you talking about that works like a Rolex 3185? I know none...

IMHO - the shock assembly in the questioned movement is the rather new Incabloc Novodiac spring - also seen in 6497's...

So - yeah - the Omega Caliber is 1128. Now, the really interesting thing is that the Omega calibers are in essense ETA's. That is why you can swap gen dials and hands in the UPO and everything works perfectly. I think that the real Omega PO movement is a modified 2892.

So- the question is, if you had a 1128 movement - and wanted to swap it into the GMT2C CHS - I am pretty sure that the hour and minute hands would work - but would the GMT hand - and the datewheel work.

We have not seen the other side of the CHS movement (the face side) and that would be the real tell.

  4. The omega caliber 1128 works the same way that the Rolex's does. Hour hand adjustable that is connected to the date. I.e. You change the date by running the hour hand around the dial independant of the gmt hand. I believe that it is actually a heavily modified 2893. But not sure on that last point.

  5. I think that if we are thinking about movement swaps to make the watch work the same way as the genuine you can get one of two movements.

    1. gen rolex of course.

    2. Omega GMT movement. My genuine Seamaster GMT works exactly the same way as the Rolex GMT movement. Not sure if all of the hands (especially the GMT hand) would continue to fit) but that would be the way to go.

  6. 1. For $100,- you will get a more accurate 088/089 with improved lume, cyclops, datefont and hands. Especially the shape of the GMT hand and the thickness of the minute hand are way more accurate to the gen. Note that the dial color of the 089 is completely off. Also the dial color of the regular 089 rep is not quiet like the gen, but better than the DSN.

    2. I've had several bad experiences with 7750-GMT movements, although I think it was more a unserviced 7750 problem than a problem with the added GMT gears. So preventative full servicing of the movements is recommended.

    3. The GMT module replaces the day function, so quicksetting the day will move the GMT hand in steps and the GMT hand will fluently run a 24 hour cycle.

Please be aware of the current QC issues with DSN. Also check his conditions when your watch gets lost in mail or custms.....

Do you know if the datewheel is sunken on the 88?

  7. I remember a famous review from The Zigmeister in which there was a deep insight in the 2836-2 Swiss ETA modified for correct hand stack (previous version GMT II), in which the reliability of such a modified movement was hardly questioned. Many members choose the incorrect hand stack for this reason (including By-Tor, which is the absolute expert of this watch IMO). I can tell you my experience: I own a correct hand stack GMT II previous version, which never had problems, run smoothly and changed date correctly at 12:00 PM. I heard of other members having had problems with the same watch.

    One more thing:

don't you think the Anniversary is a little too ... "flashy"? I sincerely prefer the previous version of this watch.

I do think that the watch is flashy. For me, it has to do with the band. The polished area is so noticeable, as opposed to the polished area on a Seamaster bracelet for instance. Perhaps if it has a more toned down bracelet, it would not be as flashy. That said, they really can't change the design of the Oyster bracelet can they. So it guess it is either polished mid-link or all brushed.

I wonder what this would look like with an all brushed bracelet. Hmmm.........

  8. I configured this ladies Datejust through Joshua. SS, MOP dial with diamond hour markers, oyster band and domed bezel. The one on top is my wife's $30k gen Crown Collection President and the one on the bottom is her $228 Joshua Collection rep. :D

That is a great watch RobertB. I am in the process of getting a Rollie for my wife. I see that your has the ROLEXROLEX on the rehaut. How do you think that it looks compared to genuine? The pictures on the dealer sites are pretty bad - but yours looks pretty good from what I can see.

To answer the question of the forum - i agree with jot9011. Cartier is the most prevalant where I work as well

  9. Oh - don't mind me. These are great reps. I am just a little anal about the low cross bar "A"s in PANERAI and MARINA. It has been a long time complaint of mine - because I feel it should be such an easy thing for the rep makers to fix. Yet they still manage to mess it up - even when they can replicate a Breitling or Chopard dial to near perfection. Ironically, the worst rep dials are the Panerai (bad A's), Omega (wrong Logo), and Rolex (just finally getting good after literallly years of crap) which are the most desired replicas. Conspiracy? Perhaps.

I am hopeful for the effort to create a more accurate PAM dial. I believe that the 111H was first up but can't seem to find the thread now.

  10. It does look really good. Very interesting. If the bezel is ceramic - that would be a real dealmaker. The numbers are a little too thick on the bezel though.

Now - the question is - what movement could you put in there when the modded 2836 eventually fails.

ugh - the crown looks weak.
