  1. well it finally got here

    and it going back

the bad: broken screw /striped screw heads / AR scrached / marks on the strap / and min. subdial not reseting to zero

the good: engraved rotor/ great AR / ceramic is beutiful /bezel looks great an changes color in light...dark grey to light

contacted Angus he sent me the slip to send it back ... i asked him to send me back the black magic instead let see what happenes

Jesus that blows. More shipping costs, and more chances. We need someone who is going to inspect this crap before we get it. SO that it is good crap.

  2. Rob,

Sounds like it was a fantastic trip. I find it strange that the salaries are so low over there. But - I guess with France, you trade off the lower salary for other benefits.

Great to have you back and certainly look forward to the pictoral. When I was there a few years back - it was all Paris sightseening. I think that you are right. At some point - you are better off spending more time in the country (the city looks the same after a while).

    Cheers.

  3. Nanuq,

Wow - great watch. Here is mine. Not as rare as yours - but not bad. I have a working beads of rice band as well - but I took it off and affixed a modern Doxa bracelet to it (so as not to ruin the antique one). Mine is Doxa Sycron era. I still have to send to Rob to have the bezel re-painted.

Great to find another Doxa lover.

  4. You got the "what in this picture is not like the others".

I think that the only thing I would say about Davidsen is that it takes him a few tries to get the attention to detail right. Would be better if it was all done correctly the first time...

DSN has been putting out some great stuff lately. Really nice. And, I was excited about this one.

But - have a close look at that dial. Does something look off (my pet peeve - for those that know me)....?

I swear this watch was almost my new friend....

  6. Thanks Kruzer. I see that the Turk has only Ti crowns available now. Not sure if the SS ones ever come up. I have a Jimmy case and all the fixings - but am missing the appropriate crown for a Manual wind. I will keep waiting until one comes up. Thanks for the explanation. To bad it is not easy to come by these.

  7. PAM experts? Can anyone here describe the way that a proper Panerai crown (perferably Manual Wind) is supposed to work. None of our crowns seem to be spring loaded. Only my Panerai 063 (from nearly 2 years ago) has spring action.

It is a function of the crown? Do the gen crowns cause this action - and - how do they do it?

I would really like to get some gen - spring loaded - manual wind crowns. Any ideas?

  8. So, yes - these are gen watches. But - you know - they have some pretty nice watches (obviously swiss movements - are they owned by Swatch - would not be surprised if they were.)

And - if you get bored of it - just pull the movement and put it into a rep....

    Thoughts?

  9. All of us are wondering where to get a Pre-V case - either PVD or not. If anyone decides what do to - please post your opinion and where you plan to go for it. I personally am working on the 201A and 009 first. Is a Jimmy case the right case for an 201A? I thought that it was for an 001B - are they the same?

  10. Chief - i have a similar Franken - done by The Zigmeister. We were never able to get the 2892 to work correctly (it was a copy - not genuine.) As such - I never wear it. I am thinking of make one last shot and buying a genuine 2892 and seeing if that will finally make it a great working watch.

Enjoy yours - it is great.
