My thoughts exactly. Hmmmm.... Especially since i think that the screws are the standard ones. Nice thing also - DSN still has some ETA movements..... Not correct for a Pre-V project - but at least they would be bulletproof behind the 201A back.

I will still wait to see if we can get cases another way. I think that these DSN cases do have the dimple.

How is this case from DSN?

I could go for a case! Right now - the best looking one I can find is actually DSN's new 03a case. Same looking lugs.

The Helenarou cases I picked up have the exact same profile as the Pre-V ....I am beginning to think that as PAMMan said , these were made using a gen 201 as a sample......

I just wish Helenarou could supply a job lot of the same case ....I might give MK a shout with the details/spec and see if he can source 20-30 cases for us ...

Here are pics of my very soft comfortable OEM look TWB calf for $40, stitching is better then BOB and Panatime straps I bought before and chose to send them back for rufund, but still want to try Bob Marino collection califs for $85 after reading a review on them on panerairesource, they seem nice on his site pics with vintage stitch.. Here are my new TWB shoes:

Compared to bulky 5mm SC Legend II I just posted yesterday this is so much more comfortable to wear, I might get a tan one from them too.. Any thoughts on a very comfortabe out of the box 3-4mm calig, gator, ammo straps from some good makers, I have a list of like 14 top makers that I was suggested by peeps on risti.. Holla

I am with you. I am not sure what the fascination is with these "thick" 4MM+ straps. They simply do not feel comfortable to me. Maybe it is because i have wimpy wrists. I have been looking for a good recommendation as well.

So far - my research seems to point to some of the europelli's. Not sure if you have looked at those. I hope that some other can weigh in with their experience.

First time I have had these in house for lume.

Done in the same way as the genuine ones, with my custom lume mix.

Filled each cutout with the lume and brought it up on the inner edges as was done on the genuine ones. Once dry I applied clear varnish over each numeral and then clear coated the entire dial.

I thought that sandwich dials consumed a lot of lume, each of these dials takes 2X as much lume as any sandwich dial I have done...

mwee - welcome to the modders club. You have a bunch of questions - but here are my own personal suggestions:

1. Go for 6497 model which has a closed case back. There is no movement which looks like the real thing in a PAM - as the engraving is always pretty bad.

2. The dials are all bad. There is another thread here where there is a member who is attempting to have more accurate dials made. I believe that the 111H dial and perhaps one other are being contemplated.

For me - I have a project that I have been working towards for nearly a year. I have a full jimmyfu case and all of the fixings. I am trying to decide what to make out of it. My first inclination is an 001B (which is what Jimmy used to model his case after in the first place). There does not seem to be a great 001B dial (the best still has low cross bar "A"'s. So I am contemplating something else.

This selection was 100% strategic in nature, and not because she's a woman. Her selection has now solidified the Republican base and settled down the group within that he absolutely needs if he's going to have any chance to get elected. If he gets anyone to come to his side for any other reason, it's a bonus.

100% agree with that. She is not going to get any Hilary supporters. In fact - she may push them to Obama even more with her beliefs. McCain did not choose her for that. They choose her to make sure that the conservative segment of the Republican base will come out to vote. McCain had a serious problem with those folks.

I love the political process every 4 years. It is the most facination form of Marketing we have in the world. Political parties hyper segment people around various issues and try to appeal with single ideas to "pull" different people to one side or the other. "What matters most to you oh stupid voter" they say to themselves.

To me, it always comes down to the economy. All these social issues, belief issues, woman for prez, black man for prez, security and terrorism, etc, etc, etc don't mean a damn thing if you don't have a job, don't have a roof, and can't eat, and can't take care of your family. Our economy (the USA) is in the toilet. It is far worse than retarded stock market seems to believe. And, it takes time for the financial disaster to actually show up in the numbers because most people have savings, etc.

I continue to vote on what these candidates say they are going to do about the economy. And, right now - what Obama is proposing is ludicrous. It is as if he has no understanding of economics and business. Clinton, ironically was actually very business friendly. Of course, Bush was as well. Bush is no more responsible for the credit crisis, than Clinton was responsible for the dot.com bubble. It is the stupidity of American financial institutions. So, I hope that as we get into the real election - these candidates start to actually talk about real ideas that will work and not just this Populist crap.

Oh - and Sarah for VP is no more silly than Obama for Pres. Just because Obama can talk does not mean he can be pres. And just because Palin has low experience does not mean she would do any worse either. I always prefer Govenors over Senators for President. Govenors actually had to manage a state and a busget and have some business skills.

PP - so your's does it as well? Hmm - can others please chime in - is this a systemic problem? I am also trying to decide if I should send it back. I have already sent mine back once due to a very poorly made dial and a missing bezel screw.

If anyone has disassembled their Skyland bezel - it would be goot to know if it is simply the bending of a piece of metal that will make the reverse stop stronger.

I have this problem on mine as well. The bezel mechanism on these skylands is certainly not as good at the ones on the Evo.

I am partial to the black dial. I think that the grey is nice too - probably one that you should keep if you have too many black dials in the collection. Otherwise - I would match the grey dial to a titanium case when they finally come up with one.

Guys - I run hot and cold - like we all do. I think that something has to come along and ignite the fires again. I have never done a big review - but I have certainly appreciated everything else that people have put up. I remember the one time I tried to be helpful in a thread - I was attacked by a noob. Oh well.

I like to think that I participate alot in a background kind of way. I have participated in just about every forum mod project - whether I had the watch or not. Datewheels, cyclops, crowns, crownguards. I have a ton of Forum parts - most I probably will never use. But I love and admire the effort that everyone puts into this hobby.

There does seem to be less of the Franken work these days. That was what really got me excited back in the day. It started with getting the right datewheel (like an ETA in the Tag Link), then the right cyclops, etc. Now everyone wants the perfect watch to begin with. I guess I do too. But to me, nothing beats getting the right genuine part and putting it in that rep. Or - getting the right rep parts that complete the watch. I have rarely sold any of my watches - because they are all modded to get them as close as they can be. Then I feel some emotional attachment to them. I have to sell a couple now - to pay some bills. But I hope that the makers come up with something interesting again. I think that the last watch i found interesting was the Rollie GMTIIC CHS. Here's crossing my fingers!
