  1. So, the next question is - will a 7753 drop right in there (if you brought your own dial). One thing I am worried about is the stem alignment, etc. If these cases will fit the ETA 7753 - at least that would be something...you could then get dials from DSN...though - his are not as nice as these. Thats all if you have to be perfectly correct. Basically - with these new Daylights - you are taking them as is...which ain't bad. only bad for fiddlers...
  2. Well guys - this has been a hugely helpful discussion. I have two converted old case daylights with eta 7753's, working date change pushers, etc. But, those cases had to be heavily modded to accept the eta7753. I have the dsn dials in them to fit to the gen etas. I was considering trying to do a meld between the two of these, their dials, etc -- but I believe that you are right. These movements are not really clones of the ETA7753. They are modded 7750's in some manner to get the dw, etc to the right places. I wonder if the cases can accept the ETA7753. A teardown of these is going to be super interesting.
  3. These are great pictures. I have two of the old case Daylights, modded to gen 7753s. I won't be giving them up anytime soon.
  4. Babola, By "new old" I don"t mean this latest production. To my knowledge, there have been 3 distinct cases made for the Daylights: The "old case" (often referred to as EL case) The "new case" (short bezel) This latest case (latest 1:1 from Cartel) My point was that the "new case" (the one more broadly available over the last year or two) -- was the worst of the bunch.
  5. Agree - 196 with Quick Release - now there is a giveaway. So you would have to go all the way back to the "old" cases. As, the "new old" cases which were made for the 7753 where just plain wrong.
  6. Ok - here is some useful feedback. The old case has pros and cons. As does this new case: Old Case: 1. Not 1:1 replication - but from a visual perspective - very good to the point of this being a non-issue 2. The bezel had engraving which was too close to the edge. New case hsa the right printing. However, I am not sure who would notice this - as it is pretty close 3. The CG was actually very very good. It was flush to the case. With the glue gun mod, the lever action could be made to be near gen. 4. The fit of the 7753 in the case - while doeable - the case did not really accomodate this movement. In order to fit - heavy mods which produce a strain on the stem. However, it does work. New case: 1. Nearly perfect from what I can see from the QC images that have been posted. (though issue with CG which is below) 2. CG is not perfect by any stretch. The lever is not flush to the CG, the CG is not flush to the case (is this the case or the CG which is wrong?). In my mind this is a big giveaway. The lever probably can be modded to fit better. The case flushness - only by the most talented. 3. Case was made for a 7753. So, this is better from a longevity. So - long and short - for a 196 - i believe the old case will continue to be the winner. The new case, unless they make non-updated cases especially for the 196 (lugs, CG shape, etc) will be incorrect. Of course - this remains to be seen as the new 196 has not launched. I have this believe that for those who must have a 196 - the old case will be highly sought. Just not right now - it could immediately become obsolete when the new one comes out.
  7. Did you order the clasp from ofrei? If so, could you show us what the link or part number is?
  8. Any chance you can show side pictures to highlight the bezel height? I am betting that although we can't see it, the nezel height is right on these. I am most worried about the cg. Since these are specializes cg's there is no way to fix with a swap out.
  9. Great pics. I am going to get one but not till dsn fixes that crystal or a more easy solution presents itself. Congats on your new purchase.
  10. This is interesting. How many of these watches that we have - have we really ever seen in the wild. I have not seen ANYONE wearing a DSSD, but yet - I am worried about the slightest detail. Pretty funny.
  11. Nix, Thanks so much for posting this. I have been going back and forth in my mind on wether or not to get this. I think that the crystal and the crown guard are probably the most dissapointing for me (especially the CG as it is the most likely difficult part to replace with something better). The crystal is an oddity - since DSN has pretty nice crystals that are 6MM cyclops (which were made to fit the 2892). I am surprised that he could not ask the same manufacturer to make them for the 7750 (diameter i assume would need to be changed as well). Great pictures. The T crown looks great. The case overall looks very well done. Looks like the perfect base for a project....
  12. Nix, do you have the dsn 25? Can you put up more pics and do a review?
  13. Very cool. More pics! Hey - how is the AR on the cyclops - is it as noticible on the Sub as it is on the GMT?
  14. Looks great. I hope that the 25's are as nice...titanium is always harder to get right...
  15. folks - some have gotten these new subs from DSN - but mostly the 24a. Here is the quick rundown: 1. Bezel is tight 2. Cyclops is off on 24 (7MM) - but probably the right one on the 25 - but in the wrong position. not sure about that CG on the 25. Can't really see it, so, not sure how good or bad. If it like the ones on his Luminors, then it is the wrong shape. The Crown looks like his typical - which is not a deep enough dish - which means that replacing with a gen or other aftermarket - will mean that the CG lever will not hit. Let me know what you think.
  16. Guys, I still have hands. Let me know if you want to purchase some. Not alot left - but prob enough for what you want.
  17. Hey Pam experts - just wondering on this question. Did the 001B have AR or was it too early? Thanks for anyone who has a quick reply!
  18. Is this the fixed date position, or the regular secs at 12?
  19. I don't know. The bezel number font is wrong and the Orange hand is too thick.....
