I just ordered one from EL. With so many sport watches I'm looking forward to a nice large dress watch. My only issue is the finish on the movement. I really wish they put more work into it. While I don't think they are going to go through all the work to make it look like the real thing and little spit shine would be nice. Kind of a waste of a presentation back. Otherwise it is beautiful. Anybody know an old retired hand engraver that works for cheap?

That is what I'm hoping. I would rather not deal with plating if possible. Although I have heard that gen WG needs to be replated with rhodium from time to time. Has anybody else ever seen details on the "simulated WG"? Thanks for your help! CM

If I was Timex I might be worried. High-end watches are purchased more for status, interest, collection and promotion of image than anything else. I don't see that changing anytime soon. If I see trophy wives start to become unfashionable then I will start to worry.

Hello fellow watch junkies, I put in an order for my Father yesterday. A white gold day-date president; won't he look cool? Anyway I ordered the 'extra special' one from EL. The one that takes a week to have specially assembled and is fairly expensive. Soooo, my question is, who has any experience with this watch? I'm trying to find out about the story on the 'white gold'. Is it plated? Higher Nickel content SS? EL said that he has the watch in his own collection (good sign) but that he doesn't know how they do it. His email said that is "real WG". Now I know it isn't solid but I thought someone might have more info on this or other WG watches. My research so far has provided a post from TTK saying that they use a higher nickel content in the SS. Any other insights would be appreciated. Cheers all and happy Easter! CM

I have the blue face version of this one. I think precious time had them a while back. The only bad part is they have an asian movement and the date mag is Le' Crap'ola. Otherwise the case and band are well done.

You might be right, although it sure looks like rust to me. I can't imagine posting a photo with rust. Maybe it is that new rust colored bluing?

If everybody is up for it I say we hold off on picking the restaurant until we have a weather report (maybe a week prior). If the weather is nice then an outside patio might go well with a few libations. Otherwise I'm ok with May 6th and will likely focus on downtown Pleasanton. Cheers, CM

I was lucky enough to pick up both 029 and 063 from EL. They are my favorites with the ETA 196 that The Zigmeister built me close behind(Maybe the 127 too). With that said they both need some work. Cyclops- really weak (two on order) Crown- same old skinny crap (waiting to order two) Date Wheel- Not great but does bother me as much as the cyclops Lume- Well you already know. Crown Guard- I have two Jimmy Fu crown guards waiting to put on. The net is these are going to be very expensive reps when they are done. I just picked up a strap off the Bay. Nice quality oem style strap for the Big Pilot. The seller has it listed for $109 but allows for offers. I threw out an offer for $75 and he took it! Anyway, I thought a few people here would be interested. Strap Happy hunting, CM
