  9. Wearing reps at work can sometimes be a pain because a lot of my colleagues are into watches and will insist on asking me about my stuff
  10. Shall we chime in as to what kind of physicians we are?
  11. See. The last time i tried putting it diplomatically on a member's potential sale thread (he'd called his watch a franken coz it was tricked out with a gen crown), that it should not be labelled a franken, i had other guys telling me i was unfriendly etc My point is, one shouldn't be putting small things like crowns etc on a watch and labeling it a franken. Coz the next step is listing it at an unfair price. Not everyone is complicit in this, but i dare say more than a few are. Now there's a thread on RG, in which a guy is selling a "franken" 127. Franken? Why? Coz it has a GEN STRAP. Now it may be that he was really mistaken and led to believe that such a thing would qualify as a franken. I don't know him, and i certainly don't mean to insult or ridicule the guy. But if that were the case, i don't think i own any stock reps....only frankens. Again, i think the danger in this is that some will ask for astronomical prices and fleece the unknowing uninitiated. I feel frankens (with gen dials/movements et al) are worth the dollar coz one can always explant the gen parts and sell them on. Not so much with the others. Anyway, enough with the rant/diatribe. I feel we should make the move, and start labeling watches equipped with gen dials or movements as Ubi or Cote-de-Ubi?
  12. Damn man. I hadn't seen R's 14270 before this. Now that i have, i feel like having one! R truly is victor frankenstein
  13. Damn. I have a 16014 case lying around. Feel like giving matt a what's up
  14. Not trying to make enemies here. In fact, i am trying to help. Too many people are listing their "frankens" at astronomical prices these days. Just hoping to stem this in the bud
  15. Why is it a franken? I've gone over the thread and can't find a compelling reason why it should be called so. Prdubis didn't call it so either...Am i missing out on something?
  16. For some reason, i'm really liking the longines! I'm also digging orises these days
  17. the second one - the seller seems to list a lot of watches that look legit..
  18. kbh and cougar1 hit the nail right on the head. These so-called frankens' asking prices are really exorbitant sometimes, and bereft of a gen dial?! C'mon man..my frankie babies are shaking with anger too!
  19. Yeah i guess it'd be nice if people adhere to the use of the words gen dial/ movement when describing the watch in the title so the rest of us don't end up with blue balls! I jest. I think this is an impasse
  20. Maybe my understanding of the whole english language is wrong but i believe: You're = you are your = something that is related to you or belongs to you They're = they are their = belonging to them or related to them
  21. And lhooq!
  22. Actually a super franken is anything built by you ubi, chiman or cc!
  23. And while we're on the topic of pet peeves, what's the deal with people using the word "your" when they really mean "you're"?
