I see the point, but if you pay the big bucks for the movement, won't it tip the build over into the big-money territory? The 16800 gen price isn't so far away
AndrewFuller: this is a vintage daytona reference 6265. Nothing like the modern daytonas which you're talking about. It's much classier and more exclusive, in my opinion.
This is the thread that inspired me to build my own 6265! Well....after my attempt to wrest it from ubi's hands failed
Too much bling for me. Why not stick with the explorer plan?
I built a 1016 w a gen dial and gen 1570 movement in my 16014 case.
Then again, when i say "i built", what i actually mean, i amassed the parts and sent it to a proper watchsmith
As I recall, phong charges 1650. Some have managed to get the gen cases at 1900-2200 range..personally id top up that extra to get the gen case. However its subject to availability
Yeah at phong's price range, it would make better sense to get a gen case if it's available
This phong guy really fleeces us! Why can't some noble brother step up and make these cases
I totally understand. This thrill of the chase and watching it all come together is worth the price of admission sometimes. I'm just debating whether or not to throw my hat into this ring, in the future. Therefore it's good to know how much the gen would cost.
Just like how a member built a badass Omega chrono w a lemania/tissot 831 movement. I was wondering if i should go through the whole (sometimes heartbreaking process when parts don't fit) journey of doing so, if the gen were not that much more....
maybe just put up a WTB. Not sure if the member wants me to go around touting HIS case. But i think more than a handful of us are holding on to gen cases here
Interesting that you're bringing this up. I've a 14060 gen dial that i've been wondering where to fit into. Now i've since gotten a MBW POLEX Shitinerand 16610 case set with a crystal (sans cyclops)! So now i'm hoping it'll all come together....final-fn-ly
Wait till the crazy-rich from china learn how to read english. Then the market will really skyrocket. As it is, they've been spoiling the auction market with their crazy bids at the auction houses.
