  1. Found this while looking at honpo's site: http://www.etayahonpo.jp/?pid=9405172 700,000 jpy= about $7,000? I think it's solid gold with genuine vl72 movement. Really nice piece.
  2. The weight of the gold rolex models has always been an issue. It is hard to get steel to weigh as much as gold or platinum since the latter are much more dense metals. I would still like to see a rep that is 1:1 if not only aesthetically. @Robbie: I know what you mean about wearing larger. I posted a topic about this a long time ago. I had a few genuine day dates that were 36mm. I also own several reps of the same models. The genuines always wear larger. Especially with the modern day date you fell like you are wearing a 38mm cas not a 36mm and the masterpiece feels like it's closer to 40mm. I think is all has to do with the bezel and the lugs. You notice the thicker lugs on the newer datejusts compared to the reps. That has to do a lot to the feel of the watch. With this said, I am even more excited about this new Rolex. I can't wait for my AD to get them in. I'll be sure to go try one on (I won't be wearing a rep that day BTW)................
  3. How much is a whole 6542 worth? I was at one of my used watch dealers stores a few months ago and he pulled an old GMT out of the case for me. It had a rare chocolate dial. The chocolate dial on the GMT apparently is more rare than on a sub. He told me he had been offered $25k for it but wouldn't take less than $40k. I said it's nice but let me try on the gold yachtie again.......... Check out #190244131097. over $750 already. Just a few years ago I bought and sold one of these for around $200. Things have gone up.
  4. The silix version is the 21.6k movement.
  5. I think this is a great move on Rolex's part. The trend towards larger watches is here to stay and not just a passing fad. If you look at watch history most mens' dress watches from the early part of the century all the way through the 1960's were in the 29mm to 33mm case range. The 60's 70's and 80's brought larger sport watches and many of these larger size innovations were brought forth by Rolex ie; the daytona, submariner and yachtmaster. To this day, many men see nothing wrong with wearing a daytona under their shirt sleeve rather than a Patek or Vacheron, so the line between dress and sports watches has been blurred for a long time. The first day dates were an innovation in themselves at 36mm and the submariners at 40mm. Rolex has just taken the next well overdue step. In addition, the day date has existed in a larger case for many years just called the masterpiece. I prefer this to the day date any day and I can't wait to get a day date II on my wrist.
  6. I still see these genuines from the 1980's go for around $12,000. Really nice replica, but would rather own the gen as I have in the past.
  7. Honpo has it on their site. It is just a matter of time until all the dealers carry it.
  8. I have always loved the day date. Simple, elegant timeless. Due to the recent increase in size of most watches my day dates stay in the box, occasionally I wear a masterpiece because they are a bit bigger but too flashy for every day wear. The design of the president bracelet is beautiful and the most copied design in the world for a reason. If I could get my hands on a good rep of the day date II it would definatley be in heavy rotation. Are the gens even for sale yet? I haven't seen them anywhere. BTW the Day Date is only 36mm not 38 so 41mm will be a huge improvement!!!
  9. Yeah and germany is well known for protecting peoples' civil liberties. What is sad about this country is people who live here and complain about it. Nowhere and noone is perfect, the grass isn't always greener on the other side. Be thankful you are an American. You could be somolian or worse, Canadian..........
  10. I would buy the platinum Rolex masterpiece with meteorite dial and diamond bracelet, just like in my avatar.
  11. Aside from all that has been mentioned, the lume is all over the place. The white is overflowing the silver rings.
  12. I just saw the gold version on honpo, man is it nice.......... This will be my next watch but not until the price comes down. I think with the exchange rate onpo wants $650.
  13. I believe they did make a watch similiar to that called the master banker. this one has some flaws.
  14. It's certainly a nice watch and a good price, but isn't the retail of that in the thousands? Sounds too good to be true. Also this is in the wrong section.
  15. I don't get this. Why are people throwing so much moeny away to buy real estate and other things that don't exist? I tries second life when it first came out and it was quite annoying and boring. What do people see in this? Are that many peoples' lives so mundane that this is all the excitement they can get?
  16. I am very dissapointed that noone has came out with a decent gold yachtmaster. This is one of my favorite watches of all time and I hope to own a gen soon, although I would like a rep as good as the SS version in gold.
  17. the gold masterpiece in my sig is about 5 years old. Gold still looks great. The breitling bentley ahs some of the best gold plating I have seen. BTW, I have one in the sales section.......... I have been a fan of gold for a long time but recently I have been wearing more SS and platinum or white gold jewelry.
  18. A patek or Piaget would probably be easiest. If you perfect this I would be intersted in casting the best yachtmaster rep in solid gold and adding a genuine dial. Since you are casting this yourself have you thought about making the gold a low karat to decrease cost? Can you achieve the look of 18k with around 6k to 9k?
  19. You beat me to it PHO. With a taste for a watch like that he has to be the real deal.........J/K Seriously, you can probably buy a genuine Versace watch for around that same price. That watch should be about $100.
  20. Usually that comes before the daytona LOL. I think what you mean is a green bezel and black dial. This is the LV submariner. There are many versions on the market but I believe the best are the noob, MBK and bk versions. Do some research there are many topics on this subject.
  21. The watch looks pretty good and the $275 you paid isn't too bad. It is probably a modified asian 7750 with the running seconds at 6:00. The only thing that you could do better on is the subdials. The rings are too fat. They do make versions of this with a better dial.
  22. Cmon, you know better than that. Look at the pics of their modern watches. They are genuine!!! I smell a scam.
  23. I never liked Georgia. How can one state have so many Waffle Houses? I mean really there is one like every 100 feet.
