There is really nothing out of line with that kind of markup. Most products on the market have a larger markup than that. I used to buy espresso machines for $390 and sell them for $3,000 all day long. The average plastic toy sold at Wal-Mart costs about $.14 to manufacture in China and retails for $14.99. Don't forget all the research and development as well as marketing costs. Even with a 1,000 percent markup a company like Rolex is very happy to net a profit of 10% to 12%. @Allergydoc: You forgot one big lie-"the diamonds are all high quality swarovski crystals or moissanite" You and I both know that isn't true with all the bling we have......

The SEL is the first thing I noticed. You could imagine the look Liz gave me when I shouted "SEL's on a bond sub? That has to be a fake". After the wierd stare like I had three heads I said "Victoria would know what I am talking about" "Who the hell is Victoria"? What a mess I got myself into. This watch hobby can be dangerous...... I admire your oneupmansship.........

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this on TV the other night. The Mythbusters actually use the word replica. Mythbusters Nice james bond sub. Wonder who their dealer is?

Raymond Weil has long been a fashion brand. Too many quartz models. Not many that are impressive mechanically.

Not true. You can always drive a taxi, bus or buy a convenience store. I think it is also a prerquisite to be from a foreign country to do customer service for any large company. You will fit right in in Miami. I hear Real Estate is cheap in Opa Locka and Liberty City....................

I have been an entrepreneur since I was 10. I used to sell blow pops in school. The great thing was my mom bought them and I sold them for a quarter. All profit. Too bad I can't convince anyone to fund me with the same business model today . I am also in the midst of starting a new business and have been down this road many times. Unfortunatley many things I have marketed have had short life spans although have been very successful in a short period of time. The last was a residential development in Costa Rica. We successfully sold close to 300 home sites in 2 years. One piece of advice I can pass along to you is one that I heard from Ted Turner. He said "do what you love and the money will come". This is some of the best advice I have ever heard. You must be passionate about whatever you do or you will not be excited about it and you will fail miserably. If you don't have passion about whatever product or service you are marketing you will never be able to get any customers excited about buying your product or service. If you don't lose sleep because you have so many ideas on how to make money rolling around in your head you are probably not a business man. I was up until 5:00 this morning typing copy for my new website. I have people I deal with ask me "why were yu emailing me at 3am? This all boils down to passion. I love making deals and I love making business happen. Nothing else in this world gives me the same rush. The next thing I can tell you is make sure you have enough money to do exactly what you want to do. I have had and seen many good ideas go down the toilet because they were undercapitalized. You need to find someone with money who is willing to invest in you. At the same time don't compromise your vision for a partner who wants too much control. There is a fine balance between venture capital and working partners. Don't give up. Starting a new business is not easy. You will encounter a lot of pitfalls. Your friends and family will tell you you are crazy. Surround yourself with successful people who you can learn from and take every bump in the road or even failure as a learning experience. I have had many businesses fail. Any successful entrepreneur will tell you they have had at least 5 or 6 failures before they found a winner. Good Luck. Research is great, but all your research is worth squat without real world trial and error. I am more of a gambler than most and have gone broke as many times as I have gotten rich. Gotta roll the dice............

Their watches have 27 jewel movements and cost over $1,000. They must be good.......

I am a little late chiming in on this subject, but I was in the commercial espresso machine business for 4 years. I own a Mr. Coffee from Wal-mart. It is the top of the line MR. Coffee, has a stainless steel pot and accents along with a digital analog clock which is round reminding me of the clock in the infiniti J30. It wakes me up every morning with the fresh aroma of don francisco. At $50 it makes a grreat cup of joe and is the most expensive coffee maker I have ever owned (besides my $2,000 Delonghi ). Drip coffee makers all do the same thing. No need to spend hundreds on a coffee maker, however when it comes to espresso the equipment is of the utmost importance.

Neither I nor my family are at all religious. I know there are many members here who are the same. We do however get together on the holiday and this year I had the priveledge of cooking dinner for my mother. First course was bruchetta: crustini with fresh mozzarella, basil, roma tomatoes and white truffle oil. Course two: jumbo prawn and lobster claw cocktail with homemade cocktail sauce. Main Course: Penne Alfredo with shrimp, lobster and crab roasted asparagus and garlic parmesean crustinis.............. First time I have ever cooked for my Mom. She Loved it and I am very proud. Even sent some home to Grandma.............. Don't ask why the whole family wasn't together this year................ I think it was a great Festivus.

Nice, well rounded collection Corgi. Congrats on 1000 post!!! And happy Festivus everyone!!!

Anyone have any leads on where to get a good DeWitt rep?
jfreeman420 replied to Jaymoi's topic in General Discussion
Yes the new ones look really good. -
If they come to Florida I would trade some watches for tickets!!!

I don't even know if I like that...............

I'll bet you are one of those people that buys extended warranties on all your electronics also. IMO, QC is as useless as [censored] on a bull. Most probelems with watches occur one to two weeks after you recieve them. They may work fine from the dealer, but afterwards anything can happen. BTW, extended warranties are BS as well. They cover little or nothing. Waste of money as is QC from a dealer.

My favorite of all time has to be the warning on those little packets of silica gel you find inside jackets and leather goods: "do not eat"....
-
Yes a very instigative post from a newb. How many watches have you bought, and how many didn't work? I have bought hundreds of fake watches. Yes HUNDREDS. Yes some have been defective. No I have never publicly whined. This is not wal-mart. It is a market of illicit goods. If you want quality control and warranties for a good price go buy a Casio. These items we purchase are no more than a medium to display some highly coveted brand name on our wrist at a discount in an attempt to add some class to our persona's. Watches are no more than accessories and replica watches are a lie in themselves so don't come crying that you were lied to when you bought your fake watch or it didn't live up to the quality standards of the name printed on the dial. You think any one of the guys in chinatown would give you a replacement for a broken watch? The only thing I can attribute to more people having problems with watches is that there are simply more people partaking in this hobby. 5 years ago there was a club with a couple hundred people. Now we are in the tens of thousands. More volume means more problems. Simple and plain. You take a certain number of risks with a purchase like this. If you aren't willing to gamble, get out of the casino.....

So he loaded up that hunk of [censored] he called a jet and he headed to Beverly..................... Hills that is. Rolexes, Pateks, Ferraris Too many fake liars to count. Jetmid felt at home............ And the latest persona "Victoria"
-
I also have the Sonicare Elite. Bought it on Ebay for about $85.00. Two replacement heads cost about $30 but big deal. I have had this one for about 3 years and love it. I can attest to that. I take mine along when I travel and it was still going strong after 10 days in Vegas.....

does any 1 has any info on this type of watch ?
jfreeman420 replied to 2005SUBMARINER's topic in Other Brands Area
The case looks like a Rado. -
There have been Rolex dials with only Swiss printed on the bottom although it may be a redial.

Found my dream rep...anyone heard of this site though?
jfreeman420 replied to supermoves's topic in General Discussion
Yes that would be a very accurate replica and I'm sure if it were available 50% of the members here would buy one. Hate to burst your bubble, but the picture is from a genuine watch. That model does not exist in the replica world. There are a few variations of the big date available that aren't too bad however. Start by researching the collectors on this board. You won't get that exact watch, but you may get close. -
"NO ticks, it's genuine" I wonder how long it took them to find an automatic knock off for the scene complete with nasty sticker with the model number for a datejust? Very fitting for CSI to use such a bad fake seeing that the acting and screen writing is horrible as well. In 40 or 50 years of making cop shows you would figure someone would come up with one that doesn't suck. As for the cars, I know the original Miami Vice blew up many genuine Ferrari's, but I have also caught a glimpse of some really bad fake Rolex Presidents in the series as well.
