I've had a solid gold version. I didn't pay anywhere near $5k but gold was alot cheaper then. I can tell you the weight still wasn't close to the gen. I have bought two gen day dates for under $5k each. 1980's models. If you look hard enough they are around.

If this is trying to be a zenith based daytona the hour markers are too fat and short. Should be long and skinny. The subdials are way off. I couldn't wear that, although I do have two second @ six paperweights right now.

Should take the gen insert but will need some modification. Crystal may be a problem. The vintage models are the ones that easily accept genuine parts. The hands will be a problem as the hand stack on the 3135 is a different size than the ETA. Maybe some careful mods to the hole diamoeter on the hands. Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I used to work for a printer and spent a lot of time in the photo studio. Surprisingly I'm still not a good photographer, probably just need some better equipment. Back to your dillemma. They used a spray to called matte clear coat to spray glossy items like sunglasses to make them easier to photograph. This comes in an aerosol can like spray paint and can be found at your local home improvement store. This should do the trick although I don't know how resistant it would be to scratches. Maybe a good fine sanding first and a thick coat followed by a baking.

I used to use zonealarm back in 2000. Ever since I upgraded to XP pro no need. IE7 and XP pro will block everything if configured properly. You may have spyware on your computer causing pop ups. Try running ad aware or spybot. In IE 7 or control panel go to tools-internet options-programs and click the add ons button. You may be surprised as to what programs are running in conjuction with your internet connection. Ad programs regularly install ad ons that cause lots of trouble.

If you want to do it right you can buy actual dial feet and either solder them or use a two part metal epoxy to adhere them to the dial. The feet can be purchased at ofrei for pennies. Be sure to line them up correctly with the holes in the movement. This can get tricky.
