Where's that beach?

Wow. That is horrible. Glad you got it back together though. I would not have had the patience to look for all those tiny parts.

I don't know where you get your information, but 5 microns is super thick. Most gold plating is less than 2.5 microns. 5 to 10 microns is considered gold filled or vermeil. Who knows if they are telling the truth about the thickness but if it is 5 microns it should last a long time.

One last suggestion, I have a two tone black dial daytona with arabic numbers and diamonds only on a few hours. Very nice. You should try one of these.

Kind of difficult to find non rolex watches that have diamond markers without a diamond bezel. A few models come to mind. There was a panerai radiomir a while back with diamond numbers. Very nice. Several of the piaget, vacheron, patek models have limited bling as well, but most are small diameter. I think the nicest watch available now with bling is the ultimate EVO with the diamond bezel. Or just go with one from my signature

That date whell looks great. Especially right up to the dial. Makes a big difference from the asian version.

I'd like to hear from the dealers why such a large price difference is justified: Standard Big Bang: $428 Ceramic Bezel: $598 Gold: $768 Why does a Ceramic bezel cost $170? Why does gold plating cost $170? The difference in price between a ss breitling bently and gold bently is only $10 or $20. Is this some super special extra thick gold plate? Nothing of this size would cost $200 to plate at any thickness.

What the hell is this schmutz on my new $400 watch!?!?!
jfreeman420 replied to Corgi's topic in General Discussion
Against everyones advice I will post my experience with this exact same problem. I have an older two tone sub with the end link just plated on one side. The mid links are hollow and I will assume they are plated very thick because I have had the watch for over four years. It had the brown spot on the end link. I used a cape cod and it removed it in an instant. Ran the whole bracelet with the cape cod and it came out shiny and new. Even removed some of the scratches on the clasp. It does have the gold through the clap and all the gold looks better than ever. I don't know if they were made better back then or what, but the cape cod brought new life to an old sub for me. -
They have another pam for sale which is obviously a photoshoped pic of a rep. The pic of the display back is blurry so you can barely make out the printing on the movement. The pics of the movement in this auction look quite familiar as well.

Cartier Roadster Chronograph with Asian 7750 28,800
jfreeman420 replied to TmeShare's topic in Other Brands Area
I think the 7750 is way too thick to put in a Roadster case. I could be wrong, but I have tried on the gen at the AD and every 7750 watch I own has a much thicker case. There is no relief in the caseback for the rotor on this one. Don't see them making it. If they were planning it they would have released the standard vesion with a 44mm case to make it easy. -
There is always spell check. Very simple to use I must say. I am one of those sticklers for spelling and pronunciation. My g/f is just short of a masters degree and can't spell for [censored]. The owner of the company I work for dropped out of high school in 9th grade is just about illiterate. Great spelling is not indicative of one's character. Many of the members here speak english as a second language. Give them a break. Take a xanax and go back to measuring the distance between tics on your replica sub.

That's wierd that it is out already. The premier is friday here in south florida. I'm going sunday.

Possible new Lange rep - big date, subdials at 4 and 7?
jfreeman420 replied to cornerstone's topic in General Discussion
Saw these a while ago. Very nice looking, but I would like to see the flyback in the white dial with the bigger subdials. That would be more accurate I think. I don't know why they insist on adding that moon phase when the gen only has one in platinum. -
Which Member's Taste in Watches do you Admire?
jfreeman420 replied to Victoria's topic in General Discussion
I get the prize for the best bling collection. Other than that I don't think anyone holds a candle to Tanfoglio when it comes to a Rolex collection. -
You can also have Hugh grant back. I hear Michael Jackson is also looking for a new country. I hope they skip south florida. Only during a commercial with my fingers over my eyes. Kinda like watching a car crash. It's a reliable, affordable and stylish mode of transportation. what's wrong with the Sebring? I know it does't compare to the Mini or MG

I caught some of the show coming to America last night. Made me so sick I had to change the channel within 2 minutes. What is wrong with this woman? She has to be the most annoying person to ever be on TV aside from Fran Drescher and Rosie Odonnel. Why does she get a tv show? Isn't she just some washed up [censored] who is partly reponsible for the most infectious and annoying song ever to hit the airways? Has she even done anything else? This is really aggrivating me. It seems that US TV has sunken to a new low with this piece of UK trash. She isn't even a real celebrity. Who the hel watches this [censored]? The good news is I caught one of the best new shows on TV last night "Mad Men" on AMC. This looks quite promissing. The cast is great, writing is witty and the story line is fresh. This is the same channel that airs the british series "Hustle" which is one good import from the UK I also find extremely entertaining. All I could guess about Victoria is that the UK tossed her out and we are now stuck with her. Shame on you guys.

Panerai may be gay. That's why I have a nice daylight for sale in the sales section. (shameless plug). I have turned straight.

I know the presidents are advertised at 36mm but some of our dealers advertise them at 38mm and I have even seen 37mm. The official measurement is 36mm not including the crown. I must say that even the vintage models wear larger than the replicas. I had a 1981 single quick model that I wore regularly. The old datejusts were 35mm and I have a feeling that the DJ cases are used for the rep day dates. Another anomoly with the genuine presidents is that their cases are thicker than the reps. This makes them sit higher on the wrist and wear larger as well. the braclet on the new models is also thicker and a bit wider which also adds to the beef of the watch. I cannot stand to wear the rep day dates. Surprising the makers haven't made an effort to improve such a huge selling watch. One last difference that hasn't been mentioned is the bezel. The bezel on the 2005 to 2006 models is a bit thicker and has more of an angle to the slope thus the crystal sits a bit higher. This also makes the watch appear to be larger than it is.

The biggest problem with the new day dates is the clasp. The genuine rolesor clasp has a spring loaded hinge that you lift by the Rolex coronet to open it. The replicas snap shut. This is very annoying to me. I have seen a one on silix's website that looks like it has the spring loaded hinge and puretime has one too. They seem to only come in SS though and not gold. I can say that aside from the weight and the snap shut clasp the one I bought from trusty for $208 was pretty good. The gold color was spot on and it had a good dial. The other shortcomings of the replica day dates is the case size. This is too big of a flaw to overlook IMO. They watch that I bought from trusty was only 36mm. I have worn the new genuine day date and it sits much larger on the wrist. Probably a 38mm. The case on the gen is also much thicker and I think they wiegh around 200 grams. I wish they would make a 1:1 day date. I love this watch. I stick to my masterpiece now. Much larger and heavier.
