Croton quality has been up and down over the years. I have seen several models on shopnbc that I have come close to buying. They have a very reasonably priced full ceramic watch that is quite nice looking. Their most recent models look pretty good. If it's around $100 bucks I say go for it. Over $200 leave it.

No real collector is complete without one of these watch safes. Perfect for all those super reps

I have two of these. One white dial from King and one black dial from paul. The black dial with arabic and diamond markers is really nice. He says solid gold. I tested a link and it tested positive for solid gold. Two problems. One the cases on these two watches are much much thicker than the gen. There are versions with thinner cases but the links and middle end link aren't solid gold, just wrapped around. With these versions I have found other flaws like the crown on the clasp being way too big as well as the crown guards being way too fat. also the rehaut is very deep on the paul versions, but thinner on others that I have had. Second problem is as nice as these are, both the two tone daytonas from paul and king are dead. They work but stop intermittently. I can wear them for half a day with no problems and then I'll look at the time and it will ahve stopped. The seconds at six transfer gears are unjewelled so without a proper service they will stick from time to time. I do have one SS seconds at six daytona that I got from a Taiwan dealer that is to date the best I have seen. All the details are great and it is still running well after almost two years. I say roll the dice. they are really nice watches but don't get too [censored] if it dies.

And if I go broke I can always take em to the pawn shop............ Why you talkin bout my daddy like that? Seriously, I found this pic on ebay. I would wear them on special occasions and am contemplating a bid. Maybe a bit too much even for me though.

Looks like I will have a new pair of sunglasses. Just what I have always wanted

Ken you are way too nice. I would love to see what the other contestants did. She is obviously not competition worthy. George Lucas should sue.

Holy Crap!!! Can't get the video embedded here so here's the link: South Park

That pic certainly looks better but is far from perfect. It is the small details like these that will never be 100% that is why a replica is only a replica and the genuine is 100% genuine............

The case on the Day Date is 36mm all day long. I see some dealers advertising 38mm but it is not true. I have owned and worn the genuine and for some reason it seems to wear larger than the 36mm datejust. I don't know if it is just chunkier, thicker or the thicker bezel on the newer models makes it look bigger but the gen is like night and day from the rep. The newer models are also much much heavier and thicker. I feel comfortable wearing a genuine day date any day but the rep just doesn't do it for me. The masterpiece is larger at 38 or 39mm.

Nah the rest wear Timexes. The good ones wear the top quality reps along with their $2,000 Cartier eyeglasses and $1,000 Mezlan gators..................So I have heard

GOOD salesmen make tons of money. The rest starve...............

Or the world......................... I think I need a Patek Nautilus.

I paid $12.00 to send around $400 at the check cashing store. I also paid $90 to send $750 to NYC. Go figure. I think it does vary by zip code. I also paid 7% sales tax when I bought a car in Miami. Up here it's 6%

It's not hard to get $10,000 worth of reps either V. I would estimate all my bling to be well into the million dollar range...... Not to mention all the ones I don't have anymore. Hell, the platinum black MOP masterpiece alone is almost $200,000 retail. Kinda silly to even think about wearing that one if you ask me.

It is a lot of watch for the money. Breitling is a better value than Rolex any day. You can pick up a gen EVO for under $6K compared to a daytona which is $10k plus all day long. The guys at Rolex are marketing geniuses.

I was looking over my collection recently and I started getting a bit nostaligic over the watches I still own and have owned in the past. When I first started collecting it was all about Rolex. I don't think I am different from many collectors in this respect. I bought a day date, another day date, a few two tone subs, a gold yachtmaster, a crappy daytona, some iced out day dates, not to mention the day date masterpieces and I can remember a couple Omegas for good measure. Then I bought a couple Pateks, VC and any other gold watch I could get my hands on. If it came iced I had it in my collection. My gen collection also grew. Gen Cartiers, Vintage Rolexes, a few more gen day dates for good measure, even a solid gold Universal Geneve which I still regret selling. More recently I bought every Rolex daytona available in SS, Two Tone and Gold. I have tried many brands of watches over the years and nothing compared to the Rolex reps........................ Until recently. I now find myself more inclined to purchase the higher quality replicas which fortunately are no longer Rolex. The Breitlings are my current favorite and I have a VC on order. Once this Hublot extreme price fiasco gets under control I will add a couple of those to the regular rotation. I still remain the King of Bling and still sport a few iced out Rollies and prefer the gold or two tone models of any brand, but I do see myself moving my collection towards a more quality selection that doesn't include any more Rolex models. I do plan to buy the ceramic bezel GMT when it comes out and maybe another daytona once they revamp it again. Other than that I feel I don't have any use for a president or sub any longer. My masterpieces remain in the box most of the time and are worn on special occasions and when I feel a bit more dressy. This change of events has been brought on not only by the higher quality of non rolex models, but also the larger size of Breitling etc. I wonder if genuine watch collectors have had the same turn of events in recent years. Although I am not at all a fan of Panerai I see them gaining more of a market share with their obscenely large faces. I see more and more people sporting Bentley's as well, gen and rep. I also notice the rep makers making little or no effort to improve the Rolex models. You are hard pressed to even find a Roelx for sale on Canal ST nowadays. I have accepted the fact that my collection will never be complete and it will constantly evolve but there is one thing that I can't quite understand. I have never been one to follow trends. My style of dress has been the same for years. I still wear only Tommy Bahama and Nat Nast shirts, and I have a shoe colection that will rival some people's watch collections, but I do find myself following the trends in watches. Something newer bigger and better comes out and I have to have it. I thought I would always be a devout Rolex loyalist but that is no longer the case. I look forward to adding more quality pieces to my collection. I have become spoiled with this new generation of super reps. That is my new goal in this hobby, to only buy the best quality from the factories that pay attention to detail. I hope the dealers and makers take note of this. Anyway, thanks for hearing my dribble and any comments will be welcome.

Anyone been able to verify a 28,8 movement in HBB from silix?
jfreeman420 replied to wraithride's topic in General Discussion
I have exchanged emails with Jay and he verified 28k. He is well respected and I trust his input. He did tell me that the maker will put whatever movement a distributor wants in it but will not AR coat the cheaper versions. Also look at the difference in the Lite version and silix version datewheels. They are very different. -
WU online = $40.00 + WU from physical location to China = $12.00 This forum................Priceless. Sorry to steal your line TwoTone.

I got dibs on the omega for $401. Seriously put me on your list if you arrive somewhere around that price!!!
-
I set all my $300 to $10,000 watches according to my Casio atomic watch that I bought for $24.95. Does anyone else see the irony in that? My girlfriend aske me why don't I just wear the Casio? As if!!!
-
I was wondering who bought Hooters air after it stopped flying. Gotta get me some first class action
-
I have confirmed with Jay that his HBB is the 28k high beat version. He says the maker will put whatever movement you want in it, only he wont put AR coating on the cheaper version.
-
I appreciate the thought but that is for amatuers. This is one from my collection. Kinda regret selling it though.

I admire how you are a stickler for the rules.
