Nowadays, yellow gold looks too gaudy to me. Pink/Rose gold looks classier, and is not as common, so maybe that's why it looks more attractive. I think pure gold with no additives is actually a green colour, and the metal is relatively soft. The yellow comes from the additives to make it harder and stronger.

True, it all seems like excuse after excuse. Does any one really know what's gone on there? Only one person does, but is he really trustworthy? No one knows.

I am not a fan of military service and the indoctrination it can entail, an example of say Israel, where the indoctrination will perpetuate the conflict, or the gung ho attitude instilled into far too many Americans, or some of the despicable methods employed to recruit people from dead end parts of the US to send them off as cannon fodder. I guess that is personal opinion, and there are pluses to military service (probably far more useful than a young offender's institute) as well as minuses. Some are not cut out for the military, or do not take orders well. Anyway back to the Blade/RWG1 debate. I haven't bothered logging in to the old RWG, and with the recent hacking (?), if it was a hacking, and the phishing for Edge's password etc, it is a risk to get there. Besides, the dealers sections, and so on are pretty good here.

Gotta go with the House of Orange (Holland) and stick to Orange bezel. It's a little different to others and stands out a bit. The others are normal standard colours. Maybe the black bezel version with the orange numbers, but I like that orange.

I got a few genuine watches and blew all my money on them. I also had an idea for a frankenwatch R*l*x two tone silver serti sub, and had emailed around links to a bunch of friends with a list of most of the parts I was thinking of getting. It would have cost $1-2000 to do, and without the genuine movement. Now when they see my MBW Sub Serti, no questions are asked if it's genuine. Only a few know I have reps actually. One guy who is a close friend, and another I told my PAM029 is a rep. Hard to judge what he thinks. I know one guy who has a genuine mid-size Omega SMP given to him as an engagement gift, but I have more expensive Omegas, so no one asks. r11co - I am in a worse position than you when it comes to job etc. I have no house of my own. Luckily I don't rent but will probably get kicked out soon enough! I have no car, all the money earmarked for that 2nd hand Mercedes went into watches from the start of the year. I work in the public sector in finance, and am probably the lowest paid in the department despite my job being in financial systems management ... need to get me a proper job! And the way I dress is usually combats, soccer jersey and trainers (even at work!), and I have long hair tied back in a pony tail... so make of that what you will

Also, with stainless steel, I think only R*l*x use a different grade of this to everyone else. I think it's 916L (some 9 number anyway) which has a much higher nickel content to others, but also provides that R*l*x shine. It's also more expensive than the 316 or 404 (forget the exact numbers) used in most watches, and even by other high end watch companies.

Platinum is a valuable metal, more expensive than gold and silver, let alone stainless steel. It is also a lot heavier, and a lot tougher and stronger than gold or silver. If I had a choice, I'd always take platinum over white gold, as white gold needs periodic rhodium plating to keep it's shine, whereas platinum deforms differently to gold. Hope that helps.

I think it'll be fine, without using chronos, or you may want to get it serviced pretty early on. If it dies, put in an ETA 7750 if the watch is any good

It has proper quality control, water-resistance to 100m, and a proper strap, not the usual rep straps. Also there's the box and so on, and it is also serviced already before being sent out. If you think about a rep with the new swan neck movement, you are paying aroun $400 then a relume (and davidsen's hands), cannon pinion fix, service and AR coating the crystal. Then you can buy a couple of quality straps, and it all adds up to quite a bit. And it may still not be water-resistant!
