  1. If money is no object than get a genuine!

    Otherwise,

PAM028 - cyclops, croown/crown guard (?), relume, real PVD, datewheel

    PAM029/063 - cyclops, crown/crown guard (?), relume, datewheel

    PAM196 - datewheel, relume, crown

I am not 100% sure on these, someone like sssurfer or finepics will know more.

  2. Guys,

Glad to be here, and am learning more every day. Now I'm ready to jump, but on the sage advice of another member will retrain myself and only order 1 rep at a time.

I'm thinking either PAM196 or 111. Who has the best/most accurate rep? Which movement should I look for on these items?

If anyone owns either, a quick readers digest review would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

If you want accuracy then the PAM001, 111 or 183 are the ones to go for.

The PAM001 is with a solid caseback so no problems with movement not being decorated correctly etc.

Also, if price is an issue, you can get the 111 or 183 for a pretty good price with Asian manual movement.

If you want to go the way of Swiss ETA "Unitas" 6497, then they can also be found, but at least double the price of the Asian version.

If you want an ETA, the PAM036 in titanium is also very good, and doesn't have the centre cannon pinion problem. The only mod that really needs to be done is a relume and that's it.

  3. Went to my local mall here in NW London, passed by one of those stores which "rapairs shoes, cuts keys, and does watch repairs"...I saw he had a waterproof testing machine so I asked how much he charges, he asked to see my watch...I handed over my speedy moon watch, he looks at the front, turns it around...I'm waiting to hear if he'll ask if it's a replica...instead he says "Hmm...this doesn't use a battery...blah blah blah" told me that my watch wasn't water proof because it didn't have "water proof" written on it... :bangin:

    As Chronus would say....PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE :p

    Definitely a Peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee moment :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Apparently there is a watchsmith in Picadilly Circus tube station that does waterproof testing. I havent gone there myself, but if you find it let me know exactly where it is! :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  4. Eventhough I have many other portable devices which display the current time, Gran would not feel complete without a wrist watch. I will not give up my Hig End Luxury watch quest fixation for anything. Wrist watches are probably more of a fashion thing these days than it ever was, and my watch still serves to remind me of the time and date when I need it to

    Happy Timekeeping

    Gran :)

Is this the same Gran from the old RWG ? I hope you are better, I read the post from your wife that said you weren't well.

  5. "The inconvenience of strapping it on in the morning," ...How lazy can one person be? 4.5 seconds out of your morning time is an inconvenience??? :bangin:

Some people sleep with their watch on, so where's the inconvenience? Also, a PAM127 (1950) is a useful self-defence tool :thumbsupsmileyanim:

    Peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.....

  6. 029 or 063 (or both) are definitely worth getting. Same ETA movement as the genuine, and it looks damn good. These ones are very limited and there may not even be any stocks left.. so get it while it's available. If you don't like it you should be able to sell it or swap it with someone.

  7. Servicing an AP Offshore: $1200

Servicing a Blancpain Flyback Chrono: $1000

Refinishing a RO bracelet: $400 by AP Clearwater

    Servicing by The Zigmeister: $100-$175

    You do the math. :D

    You forgot to add,

Attention to detail by The Zigmeister: priceless :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  8. Good luck to him.

I only ever had contact with him once, saying he was travelling a lot and busy. Hope everything gets better.

Such is the inevitability of life, but it is never easy to deal with, especially something that seems eternal.
