  1. If we are talking about the average citizen the answer is no on the first question (Q1="Can people recognise a rep?") and will assume any watch youre wearing to be genuine regarding your second question Carl (provided the watch is not ROLEX or PANERAI = very often assumed to be fake by the average Joe)

In my experience people are more likely to guess that it is fake than to actually spot the faults in your replica

    BBB

Depends on where you are... almost everywhere people will have heard of Ralex... not everyone has heard of Panerai. A watch nut at work only heard about Panerai through the pictures I have on my screensaver.

  2. While working out at the gym, a nice looking blonde was checking me out. When she was done with her machine she began cleaning it off and noticed my watch. I was wearing my 196. She said "nice watch, kind of rare". She also said she like my strap (a Don black and grey shark). She then walked away.

I realized a couple of minutes later that I had met her before. I was invited to the unveiling of Panerai at one of my local jewelers (the first Panerai rep in the area) and she was the area rep. She had no clue that what I was wearing was a rep (I made sure she didn't see the date font, which I think is the only thing that gives a 196 away). She's new to repping Pams, but I still feel like my watch passed muster easily.

Get involved with her... there's a few free genuine pams in it for you ...

  3. All the PAM's have waterproofing the same as any normal watch as they use standard watchmaking principles in the reps. It would need to be checked before going swimming as I have seen a couple where an O ring has been damaged and lessening the proofing. All casebacks are watertight and the stems have seals in the crowns and in the crown tube.

    Thanks for the info!

  4. Here's a flip-side story...I have a gen speedy that is 20+ years old passed down to me and I am passing it down to my younger brother. Before I do so, I wanted it serviced at the local Tourneau. Since it is old, the caseback is without serial number and is slightly different than today's model. The guy thinks it is rep from the start and whips out of the case a new model to compare side-by-side while asking questions like "where did you get it" and why don't you have any paperwork? I really hate that shop, but didn't know of another place that would service it. In any case- I can't wait to get my 177H from Andy and start browsing that store. They don't sell them at that store and this guy has about as much knowledge as a doornob. They probably follow me around the store like a lost puppy!

    Cool thread!

I took mine to the Omega shop in London... they were probably thinking who is this guy as the way I dress is not the kind of people they would normally have in their shop. Their watchsmith opened up the back and verified it and gave me a year on it (around 1990 I think). Nice shop :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  5. It's holiday season so I've not been out and about too much since I got the extra links for my LV Sub from Andrew but yesterday we were in a restaurant and the waiter just said 'Nice Watch' as he took our order. I just said 'Thank you' back and didn't think anything more of it until Mrs. Feek mentioned later how exceptionally good the service had been.

Was it related? I don't know but the service was certainly better than usual.

  6. As can be seen from this pic, they grew up healthy and lazy.

Cats are not necessarily lazy, they have just evolved to such a level that they are very efficient and don't need much time to find (hunt) food to eat. Therefore they have a lot of time to lay around and sleep.

  7. Ok, then, Joshua is this address good? I received e-mails, supposedly from you on this address:

    trinicon88@yahoo.com

It told me that your e-mail was hijacked and that you wanted me to write to you there. Shortly before that, I received an e-mail from you via the "old" e-mail address saying that I should remit payment via another name (in the same country as we've always done) because you were traveling there for the weekend. So, who's who?

    Thanks ...

    Nouns Defions

Ignore emails and PM him here for clarification. He's already said email admin@perfect-clones.com (i think, check the other pages).

  8. so whats the verdict? does the roulette function work in gen? pretty sill to have a roulette theme if it doesn't function in my opinion...

that article is confusing... white roulette ball seconds hand that rotates endlessly around the dial - constantly casting bets... well... any second hand rotates endlessly around the dial... stupid comment. and if it rotates endlessly... how do you cast a bet... the ball doesn't even stay stillll DUH!!!

That's what all the articles say... I guess you pull out the crown to set the time and use the hacking to stop the seconds :Jumpy:

    :blink::huh:

  9. A friend of my nephews, was given a gen Jacob & Co watch for his birthday from his father. I had met him a few times and seen the watch, very flash.

Whilst riding his Scooter in North London he was hit by a car and badly hurt. His watch was stolen from his wrist whilst he was unconscious lying in the road.

    Some people are just scum

I'm in North London... and it wasn't me!

My brother isnt really into watches, but he likes the genuine Omega two tone Constellation he was given as a wedding gift, though I've never seen him wear it.

He moved to east London.. or just outside, to be closer to his in-laws :o .

  10. I had on my submariner (asian, canal rep) and went to a girl at school a while back saying "I have a Rolex, wanna go out sometime?", it was a dare from a guy in my grade. I went to the movies with her, she said it was pretty original pick up line, I told her it was fake though (hey, I could only afford the movies!!), haha.....am I arrogant...maybe....but had one hell of a laugh out of it... :p

I should have used that line in the club I just came back home from! I was wearing the two tone silver serti dial sub I got from luckyyy.

    Peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee... :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  11. The area I live in, the highest end watch I've seen in jewellers are Tags ... I spent 30 mins or so talking watches with one of the guys in there though and one of the pretty girls had my Omega SMP checked out :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Some people would say the area I live in is kind of rough... a lot of people have moved out and refugees housed here, as well as problems with East European gangs. A few years ago there was a shooting on a friend's road nearby, and on the next road, a crack house was closed down...

And still the house prices are over USD 500,000 here!

Anyway, someone wearing a real watch will most likely be called out for wearing a fake I reckon, so at least no one will try to rob you... having said that I have lived here all my life (even in the good safer times) and I've never encountered any problems, but my brother has been the victims of 2 attempted muggings ... but nothing happened.

  12. Ah, you see, it's hard for me to wear casual to work, since I normally have to meet clients, and I have to impress them with what I wear, and especially what watch I wear. But, on weekends, evenings, and days-off, there's no freaking way I'm wearing a suit! That's one advantage of being on jury duty right now, I can wear anything I want and no one will give a damn anyways, we were told to observe "proper courtroom attire", but to hell with that.

And really, i never liked how they would put sponsors on the jerseys themselves, that's why I normally opt for national jerseys.

But to be honest, this year I have been pretty slow in keeping up with football. Haven't watched a game on TV in weeks, and I may even miss large parts of the WC, as it will conincide with ending of jury duty, and I should be expected to be sequestered for 4 or 5 days, and when I get back to work, there will be so much to clear up before I can go to Hong Kong on July 15th.

And Real Madrid, I would agree that they are acting like a marketing machine........ You know why they selected Beckham over Ronaldinho........... Marketability, nothing else, if they as a team really wanted to improve themselves, the obivous choice would have been Ronaldinho.

Football has become so commercial these days, and yet we continue to gobble it up anyways. :)

Oh BTW, I also do own a couple of hockey jerseys, mostly Toronto Maple Leaf ones, how could I live in Toronto without one? ;)

Yes, if I had to meet clients it would probably be the same for me, but on those days there were no meetings I would be casual :D

As for Beckham to Madrid, I thought the same thing at that time... "Ronaldinho is too ugly for Madrid" remember that? Still, Beckham is not the problem, he is probably their best player now, the most consistent and hard-working... the problem is the laziness of players like Ronaldo (how many cheeseburgers *does* he eat?), as well as all the manager changes and so on.

Look at how Ronaldinho turned down man ure as well... why play for a team and manager like that, when he won't be restricted in a team like Barcelona? The only team in England who would give him the freedom he needs is possibly Arsenal. Almost everyone plays within a cleary-defined structure.

Try to see the World Cup, it ends first week of July, so maybe you will be able to. Or at least watch the highlights. I take it you are from Hong Kong, I hear that place is great. A friend of mine went there and China with his girlfriend, and was lucky that his uncle or someone let them take over an empty house to stay in. :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  13. You hit the nail on the head with that post Chronus. It always seemed to me though, that around the world, Man U, Madrid, Barca was the most popular, as I see these shirts almost everyday in downtown Toronto, but rarely saw Liverpool ones. I'll probably wait until I go to Hong Kong in July to look for them, as HK has a large amount of sporting stores, which do sell genuine goods.

You know, everytime I think about what I wear, I always think about what watch I could have bought with that money. So many shirts. I have a number of designer jeans, some which are upwards of $200, and some casual longsleeve shirts, sweaters which are over $100. I probably could have brought myself another Royal Oak with all the money I spent on clothes in the last few years. :( But on an interesting note, despite the fact I wear a suit everyday at work, I wear cheap ones from generic stores, I could never stand to pay for an Armani suit or the likes.

I wear soccer jerseys to work (I work in finance!) and no one says anything. Everupme else wears a shirt or suit, but hey I'm smarter than them :D I'm always the one fixing their f*** ups.

Liverpool missed a trick, they arent as marketing-mad as man ure, Real Madrid or Barcelona. There is a lot of money to be made, but the team (like Madrid and Barca) are about winning and any profit goes into the team usually. man ure profits go to Malcolm Glazer, owner of Tampa Bay Buccaneers... it's all about making money for them, not love of the game. Even Chelsea (who are accused of buying success) are not making a profit but trying to make a successful team. Arsenal are similar too, they play great football though. This year the best to watch has been Barcelona though. How can you not admire Ronaldinho, Eto'o, Messi, Deco and co ? I have a Barca shirt I got in their stadium with my name on it (in 2001), as well as recent ones like Ronaldinho and Deco. The only English team shirt I have is one England national team, and a bunch of Liverpool shirts - the quality of recent years' Reebok Liverpool shirts used far superior materia that felt like good quality comparedl to the paper-like Nike ones :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Unless you get a Nike jersey from South America, I had some Boca Juniors shirts shipped from Argentina, much better quality!
